GM's Thread About Everything/GM's Thread About Nothing (7 Viewers)

Staying married seems to be the rarity these days. Add in another culture, language, moving 10k miles away from home, etc, can't imagine that helps.  Sucks for the kids.

I used to work in a Chinese (Cantonese) restaurant.  When it came to the the staff, pretty much every east Asian culture/nation was represented.   I wish I had a dollar for every caucasian rube that said something to me like "It must be great to work with all those hot Asian chicks!".

1.  There were just as many unattractive females there as there were attractive.

2. The stupid stereotype about Asian women being subservient/demure was bull ####.  The Asian girls/women I worked with were no different than the caucasian girls/women I worked with when it came to personality/temperament.

I'm talking Japan, not pan-asia. They're not all the same you know

PronHub traffic stats shows that the threat of nuclear holocaust dramatically lesses the urge to masturbate.

And then the relief of not being in a nuclear holocaust drives a large masturbatory release.

Stats.

ETA:  We probably knew this ...just intuitively.  But it's comforting to see the numbers back it up.
i thought about this. what if the neighbors who always admired the other's SO decided to go ahead and just go out doin' it.

Then they find out there is no attack.

It's hard to come back from boning a neighbor on the front lawn.

Nothing more riveting than pressing a button to install a minor patch on a remote server to fix something that should have been taken care of years ago.  Meanwhile IT in bfe is freaking out about it bringing the end of days.  Lol.

After a couple of recent visits, I've really grown to love Minneapolis/St Paul. I can;t help but feel for them when it comes to the awfulness its about to experience with those two fan bases descending upon it.
Found out today that at the end of Sept. I'll either be out of a job or be moving to St. Paul.

Heck of a day

I witnessed, in real life, a group of eagles fans scream “#### YOUUUUUUUU” to a baby in a stroller wearing a Vikings hat

upside:  lots of time to look for a new gig
So i found out I'll be considered "Retirement Qualified'. So on top of a very sweet severance package, I'll be able to retire with full pension and a decent health plan if I stick it out til the end (3Q) and don't accept a position in Minn. I'll be 56 then, and would probably look for contract work.

Not sure if i can draw on my pension at that age without penalty though. Some say yes, some say no.

technically,  i think you can as young as 55 but at a seriously reduced percentage compared to if you wait until 70 1/2

Can we talk toll roads in here?

They don't have them out west.  I went back to Dallas last month, rented a car and followed my GPS to get around town.  It routed me on to some toll roads, but I never had a chance to actually, you know, PAY THE TOLLS.  So yesterday, I get a letter in the mail from the rental car agency and they say I didn't pay all of $3.48 in tolls.  They were kind enough to pay it on my behalf with an extra $30 'convenience' charge and because they're super friendly, they went ahead and billed my CC that I used for the rental.

What is this sorcery?  I wasn't even given a chance to pay the tolls.  How is one supposed to know?  QUESADILLA???????

Until recently, at least in Illinois, Waze had a habit of always routing you towards the IPass / auto pay lanes instead of the cash lanes. I always wondered what kind of  headache that created for out-of-towners and now I know.

Last couple of tollway trips I've taken I've noticed its directing you towards the cash lanes.

So the word you spell correctly is quesadilla? Would've been a long time before I guessed that.

Yes, toll roads are an abomination. You're supposed to pay with an electronic tag affixed to your windshield. There's been all kinds of issues related to that. If you don't have one, there's a camera over every lane that takes remarkably good photos of your license plate as you speed by. There are some traditional booths, but not many; the fleecing is quite automated. All the money goes to some Spanish conglomerate. This was all rammed through by our beloved governor, who is now, hilariously, Secretary of Energy.

We may need @bentley, our resident pillar of the community, in here to explain the upside. I have never driven on a toll road and never will.

you gotta cough up $4, last i checked, to drive from OKC to Tulsa - the mobile equivalent of paying a ho to get off you

I was in the Dallas area over thanksgiving and ended up on some of the toll roads, and was also purplexed when I exited and there never a toll booth, or signs mentioning how to pay for cars without the magic sticker.  Still waiting for my bill to arrive in the mail.   At least in Illinois they have a cash lane you can go thru if you don't have  IPass.
