GM's Thread About Everything/GM's Thread About Nothing (2 Viewers)

Well, you knobs are no fun, so I'm at the bar. Tonight's band is a straightforward, two-Telecaster bar band. Which is all this joint deserves.

I hear you, brother. Now if you guys will excuse me, I have to jab some medicine into my thigh.
Do you think its better than Metformin? I hear Metformin's  the new, miracle, life-prolonging drug the hipsters and silicon valley execs are taking. For some reason I objected to it and my doc gave me the thigh piercing alternative that allegedly has the side effect of weight loss.

Mostly weeping for my lost youth.
#### that noise.  find something that make you feel good.  makes you feel youthful.   for me, it's skiing.  i have skied 21 days, so far, this winter.  265 miles.  23l,000 vertical feet.  with a new top speed of 61.7 mph!  headed up for a couple days on tuesday and am planning my trip to chile, in august.  endless winter!

must.  shred.  the.  gnar.

@cosjobs the whole family will be in plaid tomorrow, my brother.

I couldn't tell you, as I am on Metformin too. And Farxiga. And the thing you jab in your thigh.

I began taking Metformin around Aug '18. My blood glucose level got into the 7 a1c range - doc was happy.

By November, I was having stomach pains, cramps, gas, diarrhea and began losing weight fast. I was at a great bmi already, so, any weight loss was unnecessary and unwanted.

By March, I was bordering on malnourished - just could not eat enough - was getting 2400 cal/day - I need 3000 min, for normal activities - more when working out regularly.

My doc kept blaming some unknown stomach ailment. After too many tests that found nothing more than a hiatal hernia (not the problem), I finally stopped taking metformin on my own.

Within a week, I had gained 4 pounds, lost nearly all my stomach pain, lost nearly all my hand and foot pain, stopped taking all my OTC crap for stomach and pain and now feel better than I have in over a year.

I have managed my blood glucose by eating super low carb and exercising a lot. It has averaged around 250 these past 2 weeks I've been med free. It is too high, and I know it. I also know that I can't keep this up. I need to go back to meds.

I see my doc Wednesday, and I am going to explore other options. But, unless something crazy occurs, I'm done with metformin.

Bah...

GL guys.

Edit - oh, I was taking the metformin / glipizide combo - so, I'm not sure which med was the real problem. Could be both.

my 43 year old wife is mad at me because she just served us burgers that were bloody red, raw on the inside.

it's my fault because she has never made a burger in her life.

in 43 years.

this is my fault.
It is your fault.  How could you allow such a thing?

She's mad because you didn't like them, or mad because she didn't know how to make them?

I gave up red meat a long time ago... so I eat turkey burgers instead. not even close to that dripping delicious rare/medium-rare beef burger... but say la vee.
I tried giving up red meat, but as a type 2 diabetic, I am pretty carb restricted.

I primarily eat chicken breast, turkey, pork loin and other "loin" cuts of all kinds, but I still eat my reds - just in moderation.

It seems that most every thing has a way of kicking my ### these days - I just roll.

if i had to guess, she got mad because she's embarrassed that she feels like a failure for not doing something perfectly the first time she attempted it. that's her personality.

all i said was "these don't look quite done" and she freaked out

i could have said nothing and had my kids refuse to eat, which would have led to her freaking out at the kids. really it was a no win.

When I was on those two drugs I lost 30lbs in a month, but I also nearly died from an upper respiratory infection, bronchitis and pneumonia.

Any stomach probs from it?

Any other med work near as well for you?

I've got a lot to learn.
How much Metformin were you taking? I can only tolerate 500mg a day otherwise I get the same stomach problems you had.
Ah, thanks. I was taking 2x500 per day.

When I was 1st diagnosed, I had over 700 blood glucose. Now, without meds, thanks to other measures, I am avg. 250.

Maybe I can try 1/day, if there are no better options.

Thnx much, Mr. Pack

Ask your doc for Trulicity. Trulicity together with Treseba and Metormin, I've been averaging about a BG of 140 and my A1c is down to 7.1

My joke killed at the memorial

After watching my sister die I flew back home to Austin. There I found my beloved poodle in kidney failure and about to die. I was disconsolate, I decided to send myself some flowers, but I forgot to include a card. When I got them I didn't know who they were from.

To be clear, all work is performed on an employer-issued laptop. The desktop is a good five feet away, and used only for surfing magic football message boards in lieu of work.
