GM's Thread About Everything/GM's Thread About Nothing (10 Viewers)

Local lady makes lumpia and pancit and sells it through her facebook page.   After seeing the reviews, I bought a bunch of lumpia and a half order of pork pancit (she says a full order feeds 8).  I have now eaten pancit for lunch and dinner every day since Saturday.   I have about 30 vacuum packed lumpia left in my freezer.

Best food I've ever bought out of the back of a car in a Target parking lot.
Mmmmmm...trunk noodles.

This is my favorite part talking to old people about it and explaining it to them like I'm some ####### anthropologist from the future who understands the 2021 idiom and can translate it to normal English...

Sus?  The etymology is from the game/app "Among Us" in which players collaborate with one another to find the one player in their midst who is secretly working against them.  When you identify someone worthy of suspicion you can simply say that they are "sus"

Slide into my DMs? You're probably referring to direct messages on a dating or social media platform.  And your intention is probably sexual in nature but in a work context I just mean send me an instant message

lately there has been a retro trend.   sick and dope are both back in regular usage.

and whenever possible, j use a single letter instead of a whole word.

Every time I learn something new it pushes some old information out of my head.  I just took a home wine making course and I forgot how to drive.

Page 4!?!?!

OK, let me preface this question with "I get the joke" so I am not totally a dead inside old man.

If your kid's first grade teacher posted on her Instagram page, a photo of her actual classroom with the caption "BIRTH CONTROL GOES BACK IN EFFECT TOMORROW" would you want your kid in that class?

Not relevant.

I'm channel surfing late Sunday night and come across some paralympics.

There's a wacky sport where it's 3 vs 3 blindfold handball/bowling sport. Guys are sprawling around the court trying to stop a bouncing ball from rolling into their net based on where they sound of the ball is coming from.

ETA: It's called goalball. Crazy stuff.

I was watching some of the swimming over the weekend.  There was a lady where both arms stopped at about her elbow, and she was going faster in freestyle then I probably could.   The blind swimming race was interesting, where each swimmer had a helper who used an 8' pole to tap them on the head when they were getting close to the wall so they knew to do their turn around flip thing.

I kept flipping wanting to see what goalball was, thanks.

My air conditioner has decided that it didn't have to blow cold air. Neat.
It took them an hour and a half, but eventually a guy came over and replaced a capacitor, sparing countless innocent lives.

hi brohans i hope that you are all having a good summer and keepin on with yo bad selfs take that to the bank brochachos

Hopefully that’s all it was, we replaced mine and then right after the compressor blew
Since I had an unsure smiley from Kev, bad capacitor can likely be due to another issue, not the capacitor itself.  They certainly do go bad on their own, but wouldn’t be surprised if something else upstream is failing on the AC

The USA national goalball teams are based out of Fort Wayne, Indiana, where I worked in the before times.  (I live about 30 minutes away).

I think the blindfolds are because the sport is open to visually-impared athletes, so everybody wears a blindfold so it's completely non-visual (you can't load up on a bunch of nearsighted ringers).

Mine went completely kaput while we were on vacation.  Came home to moldy fruit and a sauna upstairs.

Dude comes over does some initial juice flow tests and tells me, as he's connecting his tool to the AC unit, "it's either a fuse ($149) or you'll probably have to replace the whole thing ($4000(?) -- if we can even get one supplied), depending on whether we hear a beep when I clamp this."

High drama.

We have 2 units. They were about 14 years old, so decent life, at the point we had a capacitor issue on one. But the guy offered at the time we had to make the decision on the capacitor that if it went within 6 mos, they'd credit the money we spent on the capacitor against the cost of replacement. Four months later the compressor on the other one went.

The whole unit is two years old, so I'm hoping to get through the summer (Halloween) before it goes kaput again.
