Contained. Really good job by the firefighters
Glad it was xontained so quickly.

**ALERT- POORLY TIMED INAPPROPRIATE "JOKE" COMMENT INCOMING**....
Still waiting on permits for that Emerald Bay project, but otherwise would have saved us some money and time on demo.
Sorry. :bag:
DM me if you need some help with those permits. I've worked in and around permit expediting in Orange County for nearly 30 years. :)
Jiminy Christmas, man... NOW you tell me.

The real issue is our CA architect of record went completely and utterly ****ing AWOL. Told us typically takes 4mo to a year, so we were expecting long leadtime on permits.

He Filed in Aug, which got kicked back to him for missing coastal dev application, as well as solar (he never bothered telling us solar was a requirement!). I think that was in Oct. But we didnt know, because he never told us! So we we're waiting, following up with him- BUPKIS.

Our GC reached out to the county in Feb and finds this info out. Doesn't tell us until April! I scramble to do the coastal app...send it to jabronie CA architect...who goes freaking AWOL again!! Our GC had to literally chase him down and get him back on board.

Thats finally all submitted and the county is FINALLY reviewing our drawing set.

Tl;dr... Can you please go murder our local architect. Tia.
Haha, yikes. I thought I told you what I did? Maybe not, my brain is kinda mushy.

Who's your local architect? PM me if you prefer.

I typically look for Marriott properties for my work travel. I like accumulating the points and in the cities I'm typically staying in, Courtyard by Marriott is usually the nicest option. But there are times where I find a more "boutique" type of hotel that's nice for a change of pace. There's one in Fargo, ND, which is awesome that I've stayed at a couple times. And I found one here in dusty Bakersfield, CA. It's "downtown" (for as much "downtown" as Bakersfield has), so walking distance to a couple of eateries and place to grab a cocktail. Well, it turns out a friend of mine stayed at this place earlier this year and found out that it's haunted as heck.

I am ultra-sensitive to the paranormal, so I definitely felt it just coming into the lobby yesterday. Turns out my room is on the floor where a ton of stuff happens. I slept fine last night; nothing weird's happened (yet).

In case you're curious....

My state supreme court appeal is what clarified that wallaby's were in fact legal to own in the state.

I also think this at least the 3rd escapee since then.

I was going to day that it sounds like maybe they should make them illegal if they keep getting out but then again people’s cats and dogs get out all the time too, so

Not sure how many of you frequent the "kids & athletics" thread, but hey... my boy scored two TDs this past Friday night. Big accomplishment for him!

summer football?
Yeah, the league we're normally in has Spring and Fall but we wanted to have him doing something sporty this summer so we got him into this. It's significantly less popular (only 5 games plus playoffs).

Pickleball injury.
Slight tear of the plantar fascia.
I felt a "pop" in the bottom of my foot as soon as I planted and pushed off.
Right where it connects to my heal and now dealing with swelling and bruising.
Lots of ice and taking Diclofenac.
No pickleball for about 6 weeks.
The good news is no yardwork for 6 weeks either.

Oooof.

My sister bought her son a pair of Hoka shoes that hurt his feet. That should have been my first indication something was wrong when she insisted I take them since they're "the best running shoes in the world!!11" and kept asking how I liked them.

So I finally caved and wore them to work. About halfway through the day, my left foot felt like a boa constrictor was living down there. Nevertheless, that didn't stop me from playing 18 holes of disc golf after work. And throwing every disc in my bag on the first 9 for practice.

The pain became intense at the turn on 9. By 13 or 14 it was excruciating. By the time I was done, it felt like the left side of my left foot was being punctured by scalding hot railroad spikes.

Turns out the internet says I have a Tailors' Bunion on my left foot because of it. Neat. Been limping around like Verbal Kint the last 10 days and all because I wore the wrong shoes to play......disc golf.

Any macropod marsupial that hops and kicks is as born to be wild as that guy from Steppenwolf claimed he was (the utterly egregious "Magic Carpet Ride" undercut his claim to noble savage badassery, but that does not implicate our cute and lovable yet wild wallaby friend). Please, board fun or no, these are wild animals and there would be absolutely no irony in the red-necked variant of this particular marsupial being the one they're attempting to domesticate.

Ahem.

The topics of conversation in this thread are much different than 15 years ago.

What are you guys taking for your high cholesterol?
Slightly elevated a few years ago. Doctor suggested taking Niacin along with increased exercise before getting on " medication". That was 5 years ago and numbers have gone down to acceptable range and stayed there.

I'm on 80mg atorvastatin which is a high amount but I have family history. No side effects.

40mg here. And I keep insisting that I'm healthy somehow. Dude, you're on statins and blood pressure meds (Amlodipine 10mg). You got tired walking around a department store for thirty minutes trying on shoes yesterday. Who are you fooling?

I'm doin' okay, Cowboysfan8. Don't cry. God, it's absurd to call you Cowboysfan8 after this many years. You're not anwhere near the #8 Cowboys fan in my world, mang. More like number one, and 1A is STEADYMOOBIN, STEADYMOBBIN's erstwhile cousin. STEADY's probably 1B but I'm not sure he gives Lamar Jackson his proper due in the Shark Pool.

I'm waiting for the lench mob for mentioning football and the Shark Pool. Boys, come get me!

Google how to tape your plantar fascia with KT tape. It helps a lot

😂. Sorry to laugh. Hokas ruined my right foot. I have a bunion because of those damn shoes. My ski boot fitter calls it my sixth toe and had to punch out the shell of my boot to accommodate it. :hot:

Looks like Portland is getting a visitor this weekend. @Osaurus will be in the Rose City and unlike Flop and Da Raiders, I intend to meet the man. @Scoresman and @urbanhack and any other Portland peeps, how's your Sunday look for beers and hotdog sandwiches?

Oh man, sorry to have to miss this. I have a cousina nd her family in town this weekend or I would be down.

I'll just have to continue stalking you at Ringside for the time being.

Hi gmtan. I rarely check this thread and have rarely contributed to it, though some of you may remember the morning "the murderers" were in my backyard. Dog saved us, cops everywhere. I won the forum that day. Well, I've never started a thread in the FFA, but I have a story from last night that I want to share somewhere.

I got my car stuck in a random garden in the supermarket parking lot at 10 pm last night. After doing some shopping I just didn't see it. Forgot it was there, and it sure looked like I could just drive forward and be on my way. There was nothing in the garden but dirt, so I didn't see any plants in front of me. Now the curb for this garden is only 4 inches or so at the pavement, but it's dug out a good foot inside the garden. I confess I hit the gas kinda hard to zoom out of there and this deep drop high-centered my car. The frame between the tires was resting on the curb. This isn't getting stuck in the mud or soft sand. This is different.

I got out and cursed in part because I promised Kit a ride home from work and she got off at 10:15. Well there were three huge flat rocks in this garden. They made it obvious I wasn't the first to do this. If I could somehow get them under a tire, I might just get out of there without needing a tow truck. So I started working on it. They were heavy. I had a witness. Big young dude dressed like a slob yelled something, got out of his car, and came to help. His gf yelling at him. So he sees my dilemma and starts working really hard to get a rock under a tire. Nice of him. I told him I could handle it, but nope. I'm 63 and he's in his 20s. "Just get behind the wheel old man. I got this." Well, nothing was working and I suggested jacking up the car to get a rock under the tire as a solution. No jack in my trunk. So he checks his gf's car. No jack. So he tells me he knows where he can get one just a block or so away. Drives off in his gf car to get it. She's shopping for tampons.

While he's gone, I'm making phone calls. Sorry Kit, got my car stuck. She works at a Dollar Store, lives in a bad part of town, and I give her rides when she closes. I hate her walking at night. She's 21, dirt poor, and well, I've known her for years. Coached her back in the day.

A tweaker pulls up on a bicycle talking fast and wanting to help. I can't get rid of him. He's very dopey and equally fascinated with the high-centered problem. Big guy gets back very fast with a scissor jack. This is a new Cadillac Lyriq. It's a very heavy car, and I don't think an old rusty scissor jack is gonna do. So I have this guy huffing and puffing trying to jack up my car, this tweaker frantically digging out a tire, and I'm doing nothing but watching. Wth. The gf, clearly on the rough side of her cycle, comes out with her tampons angry at the big dude. They fight. She leaves without him. I can't apologize enough, but the jack works. We get a rock under the tire and line up two more to get me out of there. It works. I thank them profusely and take off to get Kit.

I instantly feel like a turd. I go back and offer him a ride. No, he's alright lives all the way across town. Doesn't want to be an inconvenience. The tweaker is hanging out so I give him $10, thank him and off he goes. I'm going across town to look for Kit and tell him he's earned a ride anywhere. So he gets in and tells me he lives in La Mirage, where Kit lives. Perfect. I introduce myself and shake his hand. He's Brad. We talk about cars. I see Kit just before the entrance to that bad neighborhood. She gets in and says, Hi Brad. Thanks for helping my dad. :)

So wait, Kit was the boy’s father?

In all seriousness I honestly do not understand the story.

Kit’s your daughter? Brad’s her boyfriend?

Chaos34, there’s no set up for the surprise ending! You never say, “my daughter Kit” or even that . . I’m just confused.

But if that’s the case, congrats on the boyfriend!

Kit is a young lady so not the boy's father.

It's okay not to understand the story.

Kit is not my daughter. Brad is not her boyfriend.

Yes, you are confused GB.

I don't know what case you've imagined, but I didn't gain a boyfriend.

She was being funny. Since I'm giving her rides to keep her safe, she calls me dad sometimes, which makes us laugh. I thought it was obvious but sorry for the confusion.
I found it obvious. Less obvious was no real comment about what high centering a lyric did to the car.
Yeah you kinda had to be there and i should have taken pics, but high-centering took the weight off all four tires so they just spun. The smell of burning rubber was annoying. my car reminded me of holding a dog above water and watching it swim in the air. i felt pretty dumb. you would think getting the rear tires (still on pavement) to bite was a simple solution but in drive it made matters worse and in reverse it wasn't going to clear that 1 foot drop without damaging the car. the only option was "pulling" it out with a front tire over those rocks which lifted the frame off the curb as soon as we got them right and I pulled forward. Sadly i did some damage to the undercarriage. Just two parts designed to protect it (shields) doing their job, but i feel even dumber for that.

which one is a murderer?

I drove onto one of those in a Hemet parking lot and had a tweaker and his girlfriend trying to lift my car, just like you. And probably looking for scratch. I told him immediately I couldn’t pay him (I was going to an unspecified but officially fine meeting and was broke). I had to get towed off of it. So I wouldn’t feel stupid if I were you (well, if you’re sharing experiences with me then maybe . . . ), or not too stupid, let’s say. Somebody else who is currently alive and under seventy-five has done the same stuff.

That was a frustrating, helpless feeling because getting out of the car with it being raised in the air is something one has to do, although I’ll bet like me you’re too concerned with other stuff to remember how far you were from the ground. It’s not anything that’s that high in the air, so it feels natural. But you are indeed up in the air, as is your car.

LOL. Hope the Lryic repair doesn’t cost you too much.

PS You went with the freaking Caddy, didn’t you? I told you, bro . . . never the Caddy. :)
