GM's thread about nothing (37 Viewers)

Sorry to hear about your loss Pack.I hate having to catch up on this thread during the weekends.Did anyone here know that it is $3k to get staples, fiber from a stuffed toy, hair tie and string from a Boston Terrier's stomach on a friday night? I didn't even want the damn dog, now I'm $5k into it in 5 mths. Allocating resources were not done very effectively in our household this past year.
Those dogs are worthless.

My neighbor across the street died yesterday. Actually, he might have died Tuesday and the police broke in on Friday. I feel bad because I've been thinking I should go over and offer to break up this big cardboard box that's been sitting in his front yard to get rid of it and to pick up trash stuck to his cactus plants. He was a former teacher, around 70, and alone. Sad to die alone like that.
This has been up for like 90 minutes and not one joke about me being old?

What's the right move here. A fraternity brother of mine's father passed away on Thursday. The services are Monday, but I'll be out of town for work. I would consider this guy a friend, but not a great friend. We both have mutual friends who we are both better friends with, but we're just not really that close. We hang out at games and parties and such in large groups, but I would never call him to see what's going on for the weekend. But he's a solid guy and I had met his dad a few times at parties, and he was always very genuine. I will be definitely be sending a sympathy card, but shall just that suffice? Do I even mention that I'm sorry that I'm going to miss the services b/c of work? Sign the guestbook online?I think I'm overthinking this...but I hate these situations, so would like another opinion.
I think it's fine to send the sympathy card, sign the online guestbook and not have to give a reason why you can't make it.
I agree. Any kind of explanation is probably going to make a bigger deal out of it than it needs to be.
:goodposting: s
thx y'all

We figured this story would hit a little close to home and didn't want to really upset you

Look at it this way, if it weren't for guys like me, you wouldn't look near as funny as you do.

My wife just came home from the hair dresser. She bought 3 bootleg DVDs (War Horse, The Descendents, and Courageous...which it turns out is a Jesus movie) from some guy, who doesn't speak English, who comes in to the shop every few days. He carries a suitcase full of them. I asked my wife "how do we know that they're good". She replied with "Gator's mom vouched for him".

You can't make this stuff up, people.

anybody know anything about life insurance? Is there any drawback or argument against AAA's Direct Term Life Insurance? Seems cheap and easy for $200K....no medical exam. Anybody?

This would be for my wife, not me.

Just bought a new backup battery for my alarm system. If I bought it from the alarm company, it would be $60. Amazon cost is $15. Impressive markup.

Start hiding arsenic?
:lmao: that post kinda does smell a lot like "i'm planning on killing my wife"...I'M NOT!!! :lmao: She just doesn't have any at present time and I can call my agents and have her go through my policies and take medical exams,etc...or I can do this cheaper AAA version that came in the mail today. Just want to ensure there's no issues with this cheap AAA insurance. Figured a lot the posters in here have life insurance on their wives. (Sacamano, HI!)

Since it's an association endorsed program, the association is getting a cut. I would think you could find something else out there that was cheaper if you look around.

Prepare for complete annihilation. Tonight at The Redwood Bar in DTLA.

From none other than....yep...Fartbarf! :lmao: :lmao:

BRONG, when you have a chance, would love any recommendations for Bali. Have to go to Singapore for work in April and wanted to stop by for a few days somewhere I haven't been before, and this looks like the best option. More interested in peace and tranquility than the clubs, though I imagine we'll go out to a couple just to check out that scene. Which areas/beaches do you think best? Any ideas welcomed.

Same question for charvik and anyone else who's been there. :)

CC is pretty clearly post-hipsterI am headed to a dive bar on the Lower East Side to hear a friend of a friend's likely ####ty band. There will be Pabst.
C-Squat?
"Arlene's Grocery is located in NYC's trendy Lower East Side in what was once a Puerto Rican bodega."
:lmao: Nice. Get a soda, some suspicious looking chocolate and see a band.
Bringing a flask

Winds are 30-40mph so we went out and flew glow-in-the-dark kites for an hour or so.

The one I was flying broke.

I wasn't allowed to fly the other one. :kicksrock:

Watching Grosse Pointe Blank and he's in the Ultimart in front of a cooler full of Faygo. Intentional Juggalo product placement?

I'll try to add some thoughts later, when not on the phone if my BAC allows it. :banned:

Well karma bit me on the ### after that post. I was putting away groceries earlier and didn't feel like taking a 4-pack of toilet paper all the way to the upstairs bathroom. Instead I just tossed it up onto the landing with intention of putting it away next time I went up.20 minutes later the wife and I leave the house for 20 minutes. We come back to find that my dogs decided that toilet paper had to die. They brought it downstairs and destroyed 3 out of the 4 rolls. I'll never bad-mouth other people's dogs again.
