I just saw a mouse in my basement. Big sucker too. Can't really afford an exterminator right now so I'd like to exhaust all other avenues first. I'd rather not do poison because I don't want my dog getting into it and don't want this (these?) thing(s) to get into my walls and die there. Are traps and peanut butter still the way to go?

Streaming the tournament online is $3.99 this year.

This is a legit way to get it free. You just sign up, they text you a code, and then you have to send 4 texts stopping their messages.

Thanks! Just saved me from having to work this week.

Can I watch the tournament at my office again?

Of course, but there are some major changes. NCAA March Madness Live (formally March Madness on Demand) will be available for free streaming online on an authenticated basis. What does authentication require? Cable and satellite system subscribers can authenticate themselves through Turner's sites (tbs.com, tnt.tv, truTv.com) by providing their account number. Fans who opt to not authenticate or cannot authenticate based on where they live can purchase a $3.99 all-access pass for the entire slate of 67 games played through April 2. Those games will be available online, and for the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch, and select Android smartphones over Wi-Fi and 3G/4G. Games that air on CBS require no authentication and can be seen on a number of websites. For information on the March Madness Live, click here.
sounds like you don't even need this coke promo if you feel like putting in your cable/satellite info.

When cats bring people dead animals most people think "Oh, how cute. He brought me a gift." In reality the cat is saying "Look what I did. You suck at hunting."

At what point is it acceptable to throw away your computer keyboard instead of cleaning it again? Just got really close to mine, and it's pretty nasty. The 'Q' and 'P' have so much buildup, it's going to take a hammer and chisel to get them clean. My keyboard stays under the desk 99% of the time, so I had no idea.

Guess I should have dug a little deeper, oh well. I have my authenticated account so starting tomorrow work should be fun.

I've been really boring lately so haven't contributed at all but have been lurking. Since I've been boring I've instead taken solace in the warm embrace of a timdraft.

jplvr, I'm really sorry to hear about your sister (I did read your now-deleted posts) but am glad to hear that she might be staying with you and things could be looking up.

fish, sorry about your paralegal troubles--predictable as they were, it still sucks and I hate to hear it.

Frosty, I have had your novel at my office for several days but can't figure out how to mail it. I don't really know how to use regular mail at my office for anything more than a letter, so I usually FedEx everything, but now FedEx won't let me print airbills from my printer. I need to go to a post office or use someone else's computer, which has just all seemed too complicated so far. Maybe this week sometime.

Happy birthday to anyone whose birthday I missed, including Mr. YSR. The GMTAN parents seem to have had a good time every late May/early June, judging by the number of recent birthdays.

The highlight of my last week or so has been an excellent schadenfreude moment as my work nemesis, who finally got a well-deserved demotion, had to move from her giant office with tons of windows and beautiful antique furniture to a tiny interior windowless office.

Yeah, I got nothin'. :(

Oh, and I too need someone with a great bracket. I don't have time to think about it this year but have a 20th annual bet with a friend that involves a lot of money, so I need :help: .

:goodposting: can someone post a good bracket?
kenpom ratings have like a 73% success rate or something like that, so that would seem to be a good starting point.
Thx. Here's a print screen of a completed bracket blindly using their rankings: http://www.flickr.com/photos/22020226@N04/6834795974/in/photostream

the sad things is that my bracket doesn't look all that different from this and i've spent a couple hours of reading up on teams and doing research

Yes! I'm going to copy it except having KY win. I just can't do that.

Nothing lower than a 5 seed in the sweet 16. Stupid.

Just pick some teams. There's really no science to it, at least in that I can't explain it to you.

Does everybody here have an invite to Dave Lamm's aka Harry Beanbag's Bracket Challenge? It's well run and costs only $10. Let me know if you want me to email you the invite.

I'm going to play in 3 this year...not too bad. I like having different scenarios in play, so I'll probably have a few different outcomes. Sure seems like the talking heads really like Kentucky and UNC more than the rest of them, but I just don't trust Calipari's youf and I think UNC is vulnerable. Syracuse is vulnerable too.

Having Michigan State in the Final Four everytime Izzo has a legit team seems like a decent strategy. I like Tom Izzo a lot. Might be my favorite college coach. I like Bob Hudgins quite a bit too. I like big, brash guys who are loud and look like they drink a lot.

They are playing first round games in Portland, but tickets are expensive. Not TOO expensive for my ex-wife to go, mind you, but too much for me. However, they are setting up a huge drinking venue right outside the Rose Garden called "Fort Awesome" with heated tents, TV's, beers and fans drinking it up outside the arena. I might have to check that out. Long Beach State vs. New Mexico will be a fun game, as will VCU vs Wichita State (have always dreamt of being amongst a fan base that celebrates The Shocker).

Can Texas beat Cincy? I don't know about that one. I hope Vanderbilt goes deep. I like Stallings and I like that team. I hope the Pac12 teams get bounced. That conference was doo doo this year and the last few years.

Anybody buying Mizzou? I heard something the other day that Mizzou has a dubious distinction of being the team with the most NCAA Tournament appearances without advancing to the Elite 8 or something. Can they get past the hump?

I like St. Mary's and always have since Randy Bennett took over. My buddy left two years ago to coach Columbia, but I still like The Gaels. But I'm not sure they are a Sweet 16 team. Purdue won't be easy and they ain't getting past Kansas. I think Kansas is another good bet to get to the Final Four.

Blah blah blah blah Sorry Tanner. I'm bored and this thread has been on fumes lately. We have no synergy. Maybe it'll pick up with hoops. I'm all for watching the games online and at work and talking about it in here.

Oh, Montana is going to beat Wisconsin. :banned:

Well, this is based on odds, so that makes sense. It's an upset when one of the lower seeds advances deep in a tournament for that very reason. I think this is a good starting point and you can get crazy from here...

had a racist truck driver come into my office today.

co-worker- "hey trucker guy, would you like some apple juice?"

trucker guy- "are N-words stupid and lazy?"

Totally agree about Michigan State. Had them pegged as my national champion before the brackets even came out, but that second round matchup against Memphis is frightening. Toughest bracket to figure out for me is the East. Vanderbilt is the type of team that I usually like going far, a team from a major conference that underachieved early in the year but started putting it together late. However, I'm always wary about some hangover effect of winning a major conference tourney, so Vandy, FSU, and L'ville are big question marks for me. I'm either taking Harvard to beat Vandy in round 1 or taking Vandy to the Elite 8.I think just about anyone can take the East: Cuse, Vandy, OSU, Cincy, FSU, Wisconsin. For double digit seeds in the sweet 16, I really like Long Beach State from watching them play. Also taking Ohio, not necessarily because I think they're all that good, it just seems we're due for a MAC team to make a tourney run (note to Tiger Fan, this is the unscientific part about picking brackets that I'm referring to).Another really difficult pod for me is San Diego St/NC State/G'Town/Belmont. I think I've changed my mind on that one about 46 times.

Shuke, I have Long Beach State going to the Sweet 16 in one of mine as well. :hifive:
Heard some dude going on and on about them yesterday on the radio, so I pegged that as my upset special. Also heard someone (Doug Gottlieb?) talking about Vandy getting bounced in the first round when they're a 4 or 5 seed so am considering avoiding them. These ghostly recollections are all I have to go on this year. :(

I have Memphis beating Mich St, but losing to Missouri. I also have Kentucky losing to Missouri. F Kentucky.
Homer. ;)I saw Mayor Wharton's bracket posted on Facebook yesterday and thought for shtick I'd just use his bracket in my various pools. Then looked and, of course, he has Memphis winning it all.

:lmao: Now that's being a homer, but then again what are you supposed to do when you're the mayor.

Here's why Facebook annoys the crap out of me.

Guster sends me a PM asking to join Beanbag's awesome NCAA Bracket Challenge. He does not leave me his email address to forward the email from Dave. No problem, I think. I can just pull it off of Facebook under "Info"! So I go to Facebook, look up Guster and what do you, Guster has changed his Facebook site has been updated to the fancy new Timeline design, which I freaking hate. Okay, no problem, I'll just go to "info" and find his email. There is no "Info". There is no email address for Guster. Real cool upgrade.

Guster, PM me your email address. Anybody else want in? Dave does a great job keeping everybody updated.

My final four are UNC/Kentucky/Missouri and VanderbiltI couldn't name a single player from Missouri or Vanderbilthth
Vandy is a good team with some upper classmen that have played together for a while under Coach Stallings. The fact that Gottlieb (sp?) doesn't like them makes me like them even more. Syracuse is going to be the first #1 seed going down.
