GM's thread about nothing (43 Viewers)

'Sweet J said:
I know I haven't posted on these boards forever and a day. But I read through GMTAN pretty religiously. Krista's thread reminded me how much I like the people here, so I will try and ease my way back in.So, recent stuff:1) We are buying a new house and moving. The new place is only about 8 blocks away. Still in Alexandria VA. Holy shnikies moving sucks.2) My kids are 8 and 11. I friggen love those ages. I want to bottle them now, because I am afraid of what they will be like at 13 and 16.3) I am applying for a new job. Application is due Monday. Holy crap, it sucks Monkey balls. I don't know how I'm going to finish it. I have to finish 7 three-page essays by Monday at midnight.Anyway, just had to vent.
Good luck with everything. I'm in a similar boat with regards to moving. I'm terrified of it. It's going to be a nightmare. My pregnant wife won't be too much help. I'm pretty broke, so movers are out of the question. I have some good friends who have offered to help, but I'll believe it when I see it.And yes, I'd like to capture the age of my children right now and never let them grow. Soon, they'll want nothing to do with me and god help me when they go off to college. Sigh....Krista's thread makes me horribly sad. I hate that she's going through that sort of pain. :(
When are you thinking of moving. I might come back out your way this summer. If it coincides, I'll totally help you move if you need ir

seriously, what the hell is in Bothell? Why do all these divorced mid-30s chicks live there? I just can't justify the drive, unless I can set up an evening with 2 or 3 of them in a row.
It's an enormous area. I'm on the very south end, it borders snohomish, lynnwood, and everett in spots. No idea why there seems to be a lot of divorced mid 30's chicks there.

Then again, I'm an emotionless, cynical ##### of a lawyer. you should probably do the opposite of what I feel is morally and socially appropriate.
Oh this is pretty much me most of the time. The other day 3 members of my school's student council came up and asked me if I was willing to help with a pep rally they are having tomorrow.Me: What do you need me to do?Kids: Well we're going to have a flash-mob with the cheerleaders. We're going to get up and dance...Me: You want me to dance with the cheerleaders? Is that what you're saying?Kids: Yeah.Me: Guys, I would love to help. But I'm not dancing at a rally.Kids: But we've already got Mr. Allen and Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Mitch...Me: Yeah, those guys are suckers. And I've also got a bad knee from Vietnam. (I really did say both of those things)Kids: :confused:Me: Just kidding...about the 'Nam thing.
there's no way I would ever do something like that. you'd have to have no self-respect.I think that today may have been my new high-water mark.

movers aren't that expensive and definitely worth it. a few less nights at fancy night clubs with cover charges and limos and they'll be paid for in no time.
absolutely, especially if you are moving in-town.Moving is a nightmare, this is money well spent. I used three men and a truck or something like that. I think it cost 150 bucks for the move, and I tipped them (don't remember what) and they moved my entire family from one place to another and put everything in the appropriate rooms. All I needed to do was box up everything before the move, and unbox it after the move.PRetty sure Cosjobs could round up some day workers and get it done for 1/2 that cost if you wanted
As long as your not anal about getting all your stuff.

Today I confiscated a phone from a student and intended to return it to him at the end of the day. Some asswipe stole it out of my cabinet before that happened. I feel like a heel.
You sure it wasn't the student in question?
I'm sure. It was a different class, while I was showing students their grades and giving make up work. Otherwise, they wouldn't have been back there by the cabinet.

A big part of it is there is no real reason to have pep rallies. They don't have them for the sports teams (we only have basketball, volleyball, and track). They have them to give the kids a treat and to justify the $$$ the cheerleaders have to spend to be on the squad. Middle school is pretty stupid sometimes.

huh. I guess that 9-5 thing just went out the window.
Does this mean she just reached out to you???
yep. guess having her break up with knuckles stirred up some stuff.

So I finally broke through email and got green-lighted to meet this Bothell chick for after-work drinks. If I'm in Seattle and she lives in Bothell, where's a good place halfway between?

Going out drinking with Bakes in a little bit. I always think it's strange when he and I hang out for the simple fact that I think everyone in public assumes he's my dad. Love the guy though
I've had people ask me if cosjobs was my boss when we've been out drinking. I don't appreciate the implication that I've made the kind of life decisions that would force me to find work for a guy that looks like cosjobs.
:lmao:

Trying to sorta catch up...

1. GL Krista... and Mr Krista.

2. ####### Mavs.

2. Kinda drunk but taking the day off tomorrow.

3. GM, hire movers. Totally worth it.

4. Speaking of movers, I might put an offer on a house in the next twelve hours.

5. Is Catfish Cal's pirate shirt just a coincidence? Or is he intentionally matching the treasure hunting theme?

6. GF will be invited to move into the new house, which means I"m ever closer to being a poor, dumb *******.

7. There seems to be some sort of "responsible adult" thing happening here.

8. I just made crock pot chicken to pics/videos from my "glory days". RIP

9. Wish I hadn't numbered these.

Who sent the PM to Imp?
To answer this...I'm pretty sure no one will step forward now.
I really thought they would too. Engaging you is always a dreamy non-stressful way to spend your day, like skipping through sunlit fields of supermodels dripping beer from their nipples.
You use sarcasm yet you have engaged me many times in the past. It's like you try to hang off the tip of the GMTAN crowd while also hanging off mine. You are one very insecure little dude.
I find all this inappropriate and very tiresome.
Oh no. Really.

I got an invite to see the Mayweather fight on Saturday. On just fight value (ie no chicks are going to be there), is it worth going to?

I know so little about boxing these days.

It's been so long that I've been to :e: (afraid to venture from my work computer) that I've forgotten my password there. Dammit. Gonna have to create a new yousername. Especially since I can't remember the password to GirlA'sPulverizedV either.

gone for 3 days and have 10 pages to catch up on
and don't forget the now mandatory "Falling Slowly" thread. Godspeed GB on your reading.
pretty sure you can forget that thread. It be goners
Did I miss something in the middle of the night? What happened?
 I assume that krista asked to have it killed.
Makes sense, I was surprised she brought it back to life anyway.

I think its less the way I look and more the way Bretnley defers to me with such respect and admiration.

Now I know how Yankee fans felt when they heard Mariano Rivera was done for the year and possibly his career. This is so sad to me.
