GM's thread about nothing (9 Viewers)

Havent checked in here in a bit.

My wife was out of town for 5 days so it was just me and my 2 daughters for the week (6 and 3). Between that and Frosty's updates, I have 2 IE tabs open. One for GM's thread about nothing and one with google search results for "San Antonio vasectomy doctor".

Just found out something called GlobularSupport.com has been charging my account for $30.54 each month as far back as my online account goes. I've also found others on the internet saying it's due to porn sites, but I don't pay for porn, so I'm shuked on that. So, I'm going to the bank tomorrow to see how far back these charges go. Could be forever for all I know. Ungood.
Hey, GB. Those are my consulting fees from Uber. You never cancelled. Go ahead and submit your cancellation request and I'll try to get to it tonight.
:goodposting:

What I do is just to keep it as simple as possible. Light sprinkle of oil, sea salt and black pepper. Rubbing fresh garlic on it is optional. I keep the grill a little cooler than if I was grilling beef as it can dry out very quickly. For thicker cuts, I'll sear then use indirect heat.
Thanks. Its a thinner cut, so I'll just keep a close eye on it. Any ideas for broccoli other than just steaming it? I have some apples that I was thinking about trying to serve with it somehow.

How does one not notice this after like 2 months?
That's what I was thinking. My guess is that he's got a good padding in his account and doesn't ever look at his account or do any sort of bank reconciliation.
:flex:
This only makes sense if you have no money to care about. Irresponsible. What are you, 20?

It's just money.

My online account goes back two years. When I work for $720, I know where it is. Good luck with that.

Grill it on the warming rack while you're grilling the meat - sesame oil and coarse salt (marinate in olive oil and lemon juice first if you like). Or wrap it in foil with butter, salt, pepper and coarsely chopped walnuts (pepper flakes optional).

That sounds awesome. Thanks RWS.

Sounds good. I would pay $30.54 a month to have someone else cook.

 $30.54/mo is a bargain.

Isn't blaming Tre for not realizing he was being ripped off akin to blaming a rape victim for asking for it because of what she was wearing?
Only if the rape victim didn't notice she was raped until she did the laundry.
Not at allIt's classic "blame the victim" mentalityThese types of companies thrive on flying under the radarThey use vague and nebulous names and don't try and take you for $500 or something you would definitely recognize They are perfectly happy to siphon out $30/month from a bunch of people until someone realizes it is happening and cuts it off

We don't have classes today, as we are having parent/teacher conferences from 11:00am to 7:00pm. My Chicken Pox student I sent home yesterday is here with her mom. I predict an epidemic. Get Mr. Ham on the line.

For anyone that cares (and really, who doesn't like instant updates?) I nailed the interview. The only question is if I priced myself out of the market. I am now sitting in the sun having a Trappistes Rochefort barley wine, reading a book by Steve Pinker and watching cute girls walk home from work. I'm then going to a talk by Michael Shermer. Life is good. Your friend,Nigel Tufnel
Congrats!! When will you hear anything?
Too soon actually. I have a savings / pension account that vests after being here 2 years, and that happens the 2nd week of Nov. It's enough money that I'll miss it, but I've kept saying that it the right opportunity comes along, I'd leave it in the dust and not look back.Yeah, I know, tough life...
I started my new job in November of last year, not only giving up an annual bonus I had worked 10 months toward, plus also the vesting of some stock I'd held for three years. While I didn't make up for all of it up front, I did negotiate a big enough signing bonus to cover a decent portion. You could definitely play the "would love to start now if you could make this $$$ up to me somehow but otherwise could you wait 'til November" card. :excited:

Just booked a week in Nicaragua in January. :goodposting:
Tell us more. I'm thinking either there or a Caribbean island for the beginning of Jan.
Cheapest yet safest country in Central America. Also an incredible number of volcanoes, beautiful beaches, huge number of lakes, etc. When I say "cheap", I mean we are staying here for $200/night. And the meals, transportation, activities, etc. also super-cheap.San Juan del Sur is the best-known beach; excellent for surfing if you're into it. Granada is the cool Colonial town; first European settlement in the Americas.

Which Caribbean islands are you looking at? They'll be a lot more expensive and IMO most are boring, but I like more active vacations, which is why I'm into the hiking, volcanoes, etc. in Nica.

It's made more complicated by the fact that I'm pretty strongly in the running for an internal transfer (they re-opened the posting for me) that would be a decent promotion to a team lead position and out of IT, whereas the other position is just a move to consulting in another IT shop (although for about a decent $$ increase). I won't find out about the transfer for ~ 2 weeks.I'm actually half hoping that I don't get this contract just to see the other path out. I'm going to hear as early as end of business today and I think either way it's going to be 1/2 disappointment and 1/2 elation.

Someone mean has hacked into SLB's account. The lady that owns the house keeps calling it Nica, as do some of the people on the TripAdvisor forums. Apparently those in the know use Nica. :)

Looks awesome. I'm the same as you and want to be pretty active. They girl I might be going with will need more of a mix, but it looks like that's a easy accommodation there too.Carribean - probably St. Lucia, Saba or maybe on the outside Curacao.

It's also the favorite derogatory slang used for Nicaraguans by the Ticos in CR.

Ah, haven't been to any of those three. Actually I've never heard of Saba. Is it short for something, like Nica is? ;)

I've never heard the term while in Costa Rica. ;)

I thought SamLB was just taking the opportunity to make the "N---, please" joke again. Made me chuckle, anyway.

You won't hear it at the resorts. :lmao: I was staying with an expat in Santa Anna and he had a bunch of Ticos over one night. Fun but eye opening how they viewed the Nicas.
I've never stayed at a resort in CR; have always rented a house. We played in a poker game with a bunch of Ticos last time there. I've absolutely no doubt what you said is true; maybe they were on "good" behavior because I was there. :)
