WTMF.My wife is always pissed when I drink. Then, she's always ready to hop on when we hit the sack. Says the smell of beer on my breath is a turn on.Last Ram's home game yesterday. It was fan appreciation day and they gal mixing drinks was overly generous with the whiskey. Got silly drunk. Mrs. SLB was all pissed off because I wasn't going to drive and I was feeling too cheap to pay the Scooter Guy or a cab so she got the privlage of driving me half way to the mall by my GB's house and then picking me up. Nice upscale mall. And there I sat, outside with a cooler of beer and a bottle of Bud Light in my hand blissfully not caring about laws or what anybody thought of me. Many a rich person gave me a dirty look so I decided to start telling them Merry Christmas. I got a few big smiles and a Merry Christmas back. Man I'm an idiot.
So Mrs. SLB finally arrives and is channelling her innermost Angrywife. Doesn't say a word to me. I finally break the ice and she warms up a little but still isn't saying much. Get home, the boys are playing next door, I decided I need another drink. Next thing I know I'm waking up on the couch. It's 8:30 and she's putting the boys to bed. So my day in a nut shell.

I was like you and couldn't wait for him to start talking. Every kid is different, though. If he's already babbling, I'd expect he'll focus on some words soon. We got him saying "light" when he'd see this little spinning LED thing at about 10 months. I've mentioned before that I'm concerned about my nephew. He's almost 2.5 and is speaking very little. He knows "No", of course, and maybe a couple of other words such as "mama", "nana", etc. I can tell that he's a really bright kid - I just don't think he's getting what he should be in terms of developmental health (i.e. they don't read to him, they answer for him, there aren't any real learning tools that I've seen around the house).I want to get him some kind of LeapFrog-type toys for Christmas (versus the motorized Jeep that my in-laws are getting him) unless anyone else has something better to recommend.I was like you and couldn't wait for him to start talking. My wife has lived in both countries, and her family still lives in thailand while her MIL works in Cambodia. I'll ask her.I would like to get my boss a book on Thailand/Cambodia for Christmas. She's going there for 3 weeks in February and will mostly be hiking, etc. I don't know her full itinerary, but I could easily find out.I'm too lazy to search posts this morning, but am I correct that k4 spent some time in that area a year or so ago? Anyone else been there and have a book/guide they might recommend?

My daughter is in the same boat. 19 months, weekly speech therapy. My boy is at 2 years, 4 months and still isn't talking much. He says only a few words and does a lot of pointing. We read to him all the time and try to get him to repeat words and he does ok but realistically only has a recognizable vocabulary of probably 5 words or so. We actually have a speech therapist who comes to see him every other week or so and we've made progress with sign language, which I thought would be the last thing you'd want to do but apparently it helps teach him the power of language and communication and might hurry the process along. It's completely free as long as he's under the age of 3, so YSR you might want to have your relatives look into it.
We aren't really concerned about it because he is clearly very bright (the therapist said she's rarely seen a kid his age pick up signing so quickly) and he doesn't show any other signs of autism (biggest concern for me with the not talking) and I'm sure at some point he'll just start going and the flood gates will open. I think the biggest problem is his sister, who started talking fluently at 1.5 years old and hasn't shut up for 5 minutes the last three years.
Ugh, seeing that you guys were so proactive about this makes me feel even worse for the kid. I will try to suggest something along these lines, but I have to walk a pretty fine line when it comes to making recommendations (I'm "not a mother" so I don't know what I am talking about, there is a lot of denial, and just a general lack of common sense). My daughter is in the same boat. 19 months, weekly speech therapy. My boy is at 2 years, 4 months and still isn't talking much. Yeah, this is tough. My oldest nephew is 9 and he is struggling so badly right now with a lot of issues. It is heartbreaking to watch and even tougher to to swallow the fact that his parents aren't doing ANYTHING to get him some help. My wife thinks he might be 'on the spectrum' and that very well may be the case. But even hinting at that is met with furious denial and outrage. And yet, his behavioral traits are so far from normal 9 year old behavior that it is appalling. All my sister will do is coddle him and make excuses, but she's also frustrated and takes her frustrations out on him, which is just painful to watch. :(Ugh, seeing that you guys were so proactive about this makes me feel even worse for the kid. z) I'm in the playoffs in my 2 big $ leagues...can bring home $1500 next week...worst case scenario $550
* If I would've started RuWil in the other, I'd be in a 3rd CG
[*]I'm actually debating taking 2 weeks off for the first time ever!
My link120+ is a good score in my league. I got 84, but my opponent dropped a 61. #backingin
