How I am spending my day.Daughter was born yesterday with no complications. She went to the NICU for a few hours, but that was more a normal precaution for preme babies. At 37 weeks she was still a healthy 8lb1oz. Our other daughters were 9-14 and 9-10 at birth, so my wife makes big babies.I had forgotten how small a baby of that size is, can't imagine what a 6 or 7 pound baby would be like.

You'll appreciate this. I saw Julio paying Carmen and Pancho today and asked him if he had put through the raise for Carmen that I had asked him to start Jan. 1. I didn't think it had shown up on the weekly reports, and Julio confirmed he hadn't done it yet as he wanted to double-check with me when we were visiting. He's super-careful about spending our money, which is nice. Anyway, I told Julio to go ahead and pay her the larger amount and make it retroactive for the past couple of weeks. You know, I'm sure, how little I'm talking about, but she then told us how grateful and happy she was to work for us. All very nice.A couple of hours later she brought me three ceramic thingies and pointed to the wall. With awful Spanish I thought I gleaned she was giving me a gift, but when Julio came back to the house he talked with her and confirmed that yes, she wanted to give these to me to show her appreciation. I feel touched and awful all at the same time. It really is such a beautiful thing that a woman with so very little wants to give me something to honor the fact that basically I treated her as a human being. Nicaraguans are really amazing people.
Any chance you guys could adopt me?
Sure, and I think I could even pass you off as my natural-born child given my skin tone. Well, if I'd had a baby when I was five, I guess.

Carmen is such a sweetheart. You've got a good crew down there, girl. Are you staying at Paloma or Camila?julio told me the other day that the best time for fishing on the Lake is September so - Thropa willing and the creek don't rise - I may be booking Camila then.
We are at Paloma. I'm staying in that front room where you slept and can't believe you didn't stay in the back. I let my Mom and stepfather have it (well, actually they had already taken it by the time we arrived), and it is so much quieter and more comfortable. Not only should you stay at Camila in September, but we really do need to have a GMTAN group outing here. As you know, I've sleeping space for 14, and people would have such a ####### great time. The only problem is that it is sooooo hard to leave.
My niece is probably going to Nicaragua this year with her college volleyball team. The coach told the team they didn't have to worry about passports because Nicaragua doesn't require them. Is this true?
No. Nicaragua doesn't require visas, but of course they need passports. If she ends up going, let me know when and where they'll be.

In all seriousness, as one who has had his life completely absolutely fall apart in every conceivable way, keep plugging and it'll get better. Not that knowing that makes it any easier to go through the crap. Good luck.
Thanks. It will be fine. I've tried to explain to my wife that nothing has failed, it has simply changed. I tell her it's a process, and it's iterative. Just because I couldn't make us rich the first five years doesn't mean I can't make us happy in the next five. Not to make a pity party out of it, but when we started I envisioned wealth and prosperity. Now I look at my baby girl and I just want to do right by her. The other stuff seems unimportant.
I hope you have a college fund established. I didn't do this, I was always thinking "There's plenty of time for this" Well it went by so fast, and now she's stuck with loans and I feel horrible about it.

THis flu thing I got settled in my sinuses and eyes.

Really weird, itchy and agonizing. If I touch or rub them they just get worse and worse. Spent half the day with a cool, wet washcloth on them. When I woke up this morning, I had to use my fingers to open my eyes, as the eyelids were crusted over and sealed shut. The good thing is that theya re so painful I hardly notice the racking cough and sore throat.

Ugh. I want to be well.

Awesome. There is some stupid ####### hillbilly telethon on instead of snl. I'm going to go dive in to traffic now.
Oh yeah? I went to my sister's house tonight with my boys. Left my 6-month old daughter back home with my MIL because nobody in any of my families thinks I'm qualified enough to care for a 6-month old baby despite the fact that I've now had 3 of them. So when my wife goes out of town for work, her mother has to fly into Portland to help out. That's the level of faith people have in me. And so tonight, I went to my sister's house with my boys to meet a female cousin of mine I haven't seen since I was 17 and passing through her home town of Winston-Salem to visit Wake Forest where they laughed at me for considering them as a choice for college. This cousin of mine is a saint; a nurse who works in pediatric intensive care. She is on a cross country trip with a girlfriend from Nashville to Seattle where she'll work a 5 month shift. Towards the end of the night, my sister said that 9/11 was an inside job perpetrated by our own government. I apologized to my cousin and the rest of the house, grabbed my sons and split saying as I left "You are one sick POS and just one notch above the Holocaust deniers. Cousin, I hope you love Seattle. If you need a bike, I gotta guy". And then I left to come home to find my MIL in my bed with my baby screaming in agony because she hasn't pooped. Meanwhile, my wife in Phoenix is in tears because she can't help with any of this and doesn't get back until 9pm on Monday, despite being done with meetings at noon. Oh, and I have a brand new tire that got flattened by the dull end of a flat-head drill bit and cannot be repaired so I'm rolling around on a spare. Oh, and I'm watching SNL now. It sucks. If this makes you laugh, then you must love Keystone Light and West Wing. My balls are funnier than this. I don't know who Jennifer Lawrence is, but I have been playing connect the dots with her moles while unlaughing at this tripe. Where's that bus?
I think you are awesome. You are constantly putting other people's needs before your own, even if that means that your desires get completely trampled. You will do anything to reach out and help when someone is in need. People recognize this and gravitate toward you. You are a great Dad and will go to amazing lengths to do what you feel is right for your kids. This community, this thread, this board, this corner of the Internet would be a whole lot worse off without you. Here's to hoping that you start having some good luck thrown your way

Not well versed in Nica travel but I believe that a Passport is required for any international travel even Canada and Mexico which used to not require them.
This doesn't sound right. I would think the She'd at least need her passport to get back into the states. What she wouldn't need is a visa that allows her into Nic as they don't require them for US citizens
No. Nicaragua doesn't require visas, but of course they need passports. If she ends up going, let me know when and where they'll be.

advice from the least germophobic person around - wash your hands a LOT. anything viral in the eye can be re-introduced ad infinitum by external contact.

Last night after a very long day of again cleaning out my moms house to get ready to sell, I decided to cut my hair. Got the razor out popped on the guard and went to town.

It looked a little shorter than usual, but eh, whatever......

Went to take the guard off to trim around my ear......

Uhhh, oooooops, no guard....... :o

No wonder it was so short.

Anyone want to buy marshmallows?

I was going to do one in the recovery room since both previous daughters were with me immediately after. With Sarah they took her to the NICU right away so I couldn't take one.

congratulations on your wife's enormous hooha.and your daughter.
Thanks.Wife's hooha has never been used as an out. All 3 babies were C-section. For the first they were afraid the shoulder width would be too big and she would get stuck halfway out. After the first the Doc told us they would all be C-section from that point on. Going into this one we knew the baby would never make it to 40 weeks, and a C-section was planned for 39 weeks to try and keep the baby from getting too large inside, they were afraid the uterus would overstretch and pop like an over inflated balloon.

Like Atlanta at 4 or more. Most of my bets have the Falcons teased up to double digits though.Tough to pass on a home team getting that many points and the Falcons record at home is very good.I'm on Baltimore +10 and teased up to 16 in most of my bets for the later game.Much smaller bets on the totals, but I like the Under in the first and over in the 2nd.

Wife's hooha has never been used as an out.
Sorry about your wife's ruined vajajay. ;) Congrats GB!

Congrats! I have my 2nd due March 1st and my brother Wrigley just had his 3rd on Thursday. I'm gonna drink mass amounts of alcohol today in all the new baby's honors

Out of keystone...holding my nose and switching to Ultra.
Out of everything you've just mentioned, the fact that you're switching from keystone to something worse makes me the most sad for you
I would have gone with "Wanting to dive into traffic because SNL wasn't on" but Keystone is also an acceptable answer.

Jinx is offically on

Couldn't find the Andre Rison jersey my Mom gave me for Christmas in 1988. :( I had it in my closet before we moved. I haven't worn it since HS but always kept it next to my work shirts to remind me of my Mom.

I'm sure Pickles will be going through his cross reference of the Internet to realize I'm not a jersey wearing kind of guy but I was actively playing football at that period in time.
