We are always nice to our garbage pick up guys. We put out cookies on holidays, and we give a generous tip around christmas. WhyTF do they insist on leaving the empty trash containers right in the middle of my driveway when I come home from work?
#### these guys. I don't tip anymore. They insist on leaving the lids open to our receptacles, even when it is raining or snowing.
our guys throw them in the road, on the grass, in the driveway, etc. broke the top off my garbage can so half the time that's in two pieces.. and if it's windy... down the street somewhere.
I won for worst garbage collector about 400 pages ago. Guy took all the recyclables out of my trash can and threw them in my driveway
No way. I almost got in a fist fight with my last one. Love my guy now after moving. He smiles and waves every time I see him.

Oh, and as if things weren't ####ty enough, I got word from Julio that Casa Paloma was broken into today. Stupid guests staying there didn't secure the doors. Apparently very little was taken--just a purse and phone--because the midget across the street ran them off, which led to perhaps my favorite Julio sentence ever:

The weird thing is that all the amenities of the house are in the house, so i am not sure what the thieves took, aparrently everything is there, even the laptop of the tenant was there, may be is because the Short person started to shout at them saying the thieves and pointing them, so they did not have the time to take something from the house.
:lmao: Oh God, I'm having Fantasy Island images flashing through my head!
Da Thief! Da Thief!

 I love Short Lady :wub:I kept the door-cage locked almost by accident, but there were a lot of people who came up & knocked. That said, I never felt unsafe, but maybe that's because I was drunk for the whole week.

Not unsafe at all. Apparently someone was just canvassing and took the opportunity when the idiot guests left the door unlocked. Julio took pictures of the cops showing up and there's one in there of them talking to your girlfriend the Short One. :)

Update

Have two solid job leads. A commercial furniture company in Houston is hiring sales management for Austin. They do about 120 million a year in business and the staffing firm has interviewed me twice and told me to look to hear from them next week for an interview with the company itself. Had a phone interview Thursday with a pre-ipo software company that I can't quit thinking about. I love their software, love the sector, and love that they are destroying the competition. Moving in to the 22nd floor of a downtown building next month and looking at ipo in the next couple years. Really excited. But then out of the blue comes a long shot for my current business. A person we know in our sector who owns a 30M business in Georgia is looking to open a facility in central texas. It is possible - no idea how likely - that he would buy us to acquire our talent and infrastructure and contacts. I would likely become an employee of his company (not exciting) but would get to run things using his capital and (most important) most or all of our debt would go away. I would be blessed to have to choose between the three things, although it would be no choice at all.

You might have to fend off her Short Male companion, whom I've seen much less frequently. I am trying to find out from Julio what we can do to thank her for being Midget Superhero Crimefighter. Also, stupid-### renters first sent me an e-mail about this basically accusing Carmen, primarily, or secondarily Julio, of stealing from them. Carmen. Mother####ers. Luckily before I had a chance to write back they found out what happened, realized their error and sent me a 180-degree different note telling me how happy they were to have Carmen and Julio take care of them. Crap like that makes me not wish to rent to people at all, though.

Oof. I wasn't sure if Short Male Compasnion was "with" her; he wasn't always there. But he DID cast a wary eye my way, so he may have knifed me had I gotten closer to Midget Lady Superhero.

My story: I have a tenant who has become a friend and I desire to help him. His dad is dying of cancer, he's addicted to heroin, and he refuses to go to detox because going to detox is horrible. He hasn't paid rent in a couple months, and I've made a conscious decision to let it slide because the only other places he has to go are places that will end up with him doing every drug known to man. I know this makes me sound like a sucker, but I really like the guy, he's got a great heart, and he's just stuck in this awful place. I don't know really how to handle it because I'm not too experienced with heroin or my dad dying, but we're going to try to detox him here first. If that doesn't work (which it won't), I might get to have the go to detox or move out conversation with him, because as much as I want to help the guy I feel that having heroin in my house that I rent out to people is pretty much a 100% no go.

I applied for a job tonight. Left the salary requirements off my cover letter. If I don't get it I'm blaming you.

I'm having to have some honest conversations with myself about what I want to accomplish. My wife is over the moon excited/hopeful that the Atlanta guy will work out for us. She knows its a long shot but she is hopeful. I'm not nearly as excited and I'm not sure why. In dark places I am wondering if I've given up on my company and am looking to move on (new job I like) while saving face (keeping the company going with reduced overhead thus a chance to make a profit). Then I shake myself and remember how much I love what I do and how hard I worked to build the company in the first place. We have a good company, just got hit with a slow 6 months at the worst possible time. To have our debts handled (about 200k) and "start over" we could have a great business. But the hole feels so deep in light of the slow business climate and I've been fighting for it for so long that talking to people about 120k jobs with benefits and stock options clouds my vision. So, time for another 'stone.

I told Mr. krista, and he actually was in the midst of texting to get time off from work to go down there and physically force them out of the house when I received the second message. You wouldn't believe it. She said they didn't want either Carmen or Julio coming to the house unless they were there at the time, and a bunch of other crap. In second message fessed up to the fact that the whole thing was their fault. Thanks, #######.Oh, and I don't know if Short Man is with Short Woman; probably just made a bad assumption there. ;)

Ugh, I'm so sorry to hear. Saw your post about heroin addiction and wondered what was going on. I'm a terrible landlady (when I owned the Chicago apt building) and probably still a bad owner in that I can easily feel bad for people as well. You don't sound like a sucker. You sound like the caring, great 'ninja we know. Sounds like you're handling as best as you can.

Unfortunately, there aren't any easy answers. Even so, admittedly not knowing the details, were it me - I would go for the stability. There's no law saying you can't re-start somewhere down the road. Gte your feet under you again, Abe.

. I will not be a person that loses investor money again. I did that seven years ago and it's the worst feeling ever. Lost friends, awkward conversations with family members. Never again. So whether I do it from the side or somehow work it otherwise, my company will be a part of me (and I a part of it) until the debts are paid. Being employee 330 (or so) at the next google or SAP or oracle or dell has me seeing $$$$ and thinking, "I might be able to make enough somewhere else in the next 3 years to get my company on better footing..." Thanks for the kind words, mostly just getting it off my chest right now. Wife still cries most nights because she doesn't understand how it went from a good business to a dire situation over night. It's been rough but ill get it situated....eventually.

Text sent.
Great. You're sitting downstairs behind the host stand in some kind of Nancyboy sweater. This would have been nice to know two weeks ago.
