GM's thread about nothing (18 Viewers)

Groupon fires Andrew mason. Too lazy to find the right thread. Sort of a big deal in tech.
Sort of a big deal in my household, too. :( Loved his goodbye memo, though.
Hard to feel bad for a guy that made a ton of money by taking something pervasive and putting it online. But the money aside, there are far too few stories about the folders that get fired once things get "big." Happens a lot. In fact, I would offer that it is an exception for a founder to remain in charge for long post ipo.
Not going to be a big deal for him. He can go back to being Intern8803 or whatever he was at Steve Albini's studio. He is not your average founder.
Oh, I'm aware. Just find it interesting that he got pushed out conpletely. He's been in big time articles and has been the face of the company. Now that its supposed to be a real company with real reporting, he isn't worth a ####.
Yeah, though not surprising as you mentioned. Guy is quirky as #### and cut out to be a crazy idea guy, not a CEO. Once public there was no way Wall Street was going to accept someone like that. It's probably a great weight off him at this point.
most days I wish my investors would fire me. And I wish my wife could understand that even though "this is who I am" it's killing me. Carry on.

Sorry, GB. :( It might not seem like I could empathize, but "this is who I am" killing me is something I can very much relate to. It's getting better for you soon, though.

Oh and to add to the previous secret information, Mrs. SLB gets a call from her brother tonight. Her brother was on an-cestory.com researching stuff. (He just had a double knee replacement, I'm sure he's bored.) He gets an e-mail today from some wackjob that goes around taking pictures of headstones. Well she had a pic of their Dad's headstone and she wanted to sell them a picture. WTMF! So she's a mess right now. Cool. You may be wondering why I'm here. I told her to just enjoy her book and TV show. She seemed to really appreciate that.

I lost $60K yesterday by staying at my company to get my bonus. Yes, I will more than recoup it, but it sucks. Our Comp Committee set our stock price $2/share lower than it had been previously, so when I leave and get bought back, it's at that lesser price. I still made money on the stock overall, but just a lot less. Yay.

As of 5:00 PM today, Mrs Limp makes about 60% of what she used to. :(

It could be worse, I'm in your tax bracket and I'm guessing you are as close to the higher end as I am to the lower end. ;) I need to adopt some kids remotely or something.

Ends justify the means. Lots of perks with new job, virtually no commute after having an hour each way for years, potential for a nooner once in a while. It will take some getting used to, but we found lots of ways that we piss away :moneybag: in budgeting for it.

Yeah. You probably don't know that she works "part time". And by "part time" she put in 100 hours. In 2012. Her comment isn't cool, man.
In her defense, if you actually do the math, that is just about two hours PER week. How can she keep up that pace?
Hey, nursing is hard. In her defense, I sort of endorsed this. The problem is at her work true part time is something like 37 hours a week. That's every day. It was a helluva struggle to bring these boys in the world, somebody should get to enjoy them. So she went per diem and now gets all the crap hours when people want to extend a 3-day weekend and stuff. She makes good dough too, like $35 an hour. I'm thinking about telling her go full time and hire a nanny.

Do I look like a Catholic priest?
Maybe...?

Reading Bob's Facebook related post reminded me - the FB shtick I'm dying to try is having a 48-hour period of utter chaos, and then "coming back" and saying my FB account was hacked and "apologizing".

Would you like to make an offering? I can't guarantee anything but the larger the offer, the happier God is.

It will. Gets her out of administrative / dead end career path.Half the paycut accounted for in dropping a tax bracket and eliminating commute costs.

I was just having fun. My wife doesn't have employment.Of course, I am an international power broker, and I need someone to raise my children and keep my business on the home front in order.

I know, GB. No worries. Which BTW this "No Worries" was my tag line. Talking to my Cali customers I picked it up years ago. Proposed it to the other owners two years ago and they thought it was stupid. Now Hammermill uses it. Makes me mad every ####### time.

How do I change my FB from married to single?
Hire a nanny?
:lmao:
My dad's old ad agency partner hired a Swedish nanny who was Ellen Nordegren hot. No exaggeration, and I swear that. They lived across the street from my high school, and I'd say EVERY dude there knew about her and knew the last time they'd seen her leave the house. It caused, erm, marital problems, and I honestly don't even think that he nailed her.

The latina in the far back has called me "cutie" three times now. Once: ok, haha. Twice? Ok.... Three times?

Homer, she's only 18, tops. Want to take a short vacation and help me out here?
She's Latina? You already made her pregnant just by thinking about it.
My first class i taught, I was in my late twenties. Teaching art is a bit different because you stand very close to students. This smoking hot twenty year old Indonesian student used to always wear mini- skirts and step back into me and drive her backside right into my crotch every time I went over to talk to her about her work. Then she would just look over her shoulder and stare at me.

One of my favorite student workers brought in a whoopie cushion today. She walked into my office and was said, "my stomach really hu- fffffffptptppbpt" and I have been shaking with laughter since. I'm apparently an 8-year-old boy. So stupid. :lmao:
:lmao: I was sitting on the throne at work today and when people walked in I would play fart sounds on my phone from the Fart Machine app. :lmao: :lmao: everytime.
:lmao:Brilliant!

So Xavier and Dayton are going to be in the Big East, and Cincinnati ends up in a league with Central Florida and Tulane. Sweet.
