I woke up normally. This also happened to me one night last week. To my knowledge, other than when I had the flu, nothing like this has ever happened to me before. So, um, thoughts? I thought I would ask here first before the gen pop and get 800 "ball cancer" replies.

I've had these episodes on and off for years. Every time I ask my doctor, she seems to not be too concerned. It has been so bad in the past that I have had to change pillows and put a towel down since the bed is so wet. Other strange thing is I am always freezing when I wake up. I just sweat(ed?) a few gallons, but feel like I'm making snow angels naked. ETA:For the record, I am overweight, have sleep apnea, dont use my mask and I'm on mild BP meds. So, I have that going for me. Cholesterol is great, though. Really good number there.

A few weekends ago when I was sick I watched 13 John Wayne movies. I have tried to finish "The Outlaw Josie Wales" at least a half dozen times and have yet to finish. Meh.

See, I was kind of wondering about this...I didn't drink at all Monday but hit it pretty really hard over the weekend.

All in all I'd likely agree (some of that's based upon Eastwood's movies being more recent/modern), but there are some classic John Wayne movies. The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, for example. The Shootist, Rooster Cogburn, Red River and The Searchers are all classics.

For background, my mom isn't very Internet savvy... My parents have an email account and when I send them an email, my dad prints it out for my mom to read. She's completely afraid of technology.

Well, my bio for my new role was posted online today, so I sent my parents the link. My dad printed it out for her to see and read. I just got off the phone with them and my mom finds it very impressive that I have a Facebook bio. I tried for a minute to explain that it wasn't Facebook, it is the page for my new position, but that fell on deaf ears

I decided to change the conversation to the selection of the new pope, but that just riled my mom up. She doesn't want it to be an Italian because they're old and stuffy and need to get with the times like the Americans have. I'm pretty sure my mom hates gay people and just hearing the word abortion practically makes her weep.

Some of the known conditions that can cause night sweats are:

1. Menopause. The hot flashes that accompany menopause can occur at night and cause sweating. This is a very common cause of night sweats in women. We might be able to rule this one out.

2. Idiopathic hyperhidrosis. Idiopathic hyperhidrosis is a condition in which the body chronically produces too much sweat without any identifiable medical cause. This would be too easy. And not nearly entertaining enough. Can't be it.

3. Infections. Tuberculosis is the infection most commonly associated with night sweats. But bacterial infections, such as endocarditis (inflammation of the heart valves), osteomyelitis (inflammation within the bones), and abscesses can cause night sweats. Night sweats are also a symptom of HIV infection. All seem to be reasonable possibilities. Have you had sex with Magic Johnson lately?

4. Cancers. Night sweats are an early symptom of some cancers. The most common type of cancer associated with night sweats is lymphoma. However, people who have an undiagnosed cancer frequently have other symptoms as well, such as unexplained weight loss and fevers. Any unexplained weight loss? Any fevers?

5. Medications . Taking certain medications can lead to night sweats. Antidepressant medications are a common type of drug that can lead to night sweats. From 8% to 22% of people taking antidepressant drugs have night sweats. Other psychiatric drugs have also been associated with night sweats. Medicines taken to lower fever, such as aspirin and acetaminophen, can sometimes lead to sweating. Many other drugs can cause night sweats or flushing. I find it difficult to believe Bob would use drugs. Gonna rule this one out.

6. Hypoglycemia . Low blood sugar can cause sweating. People who are taking insulin or oral diabetes medications may experience hypoglycemia at night that is accompanied by sweating. Could it be an absence of green M&Ms?

7. Hormone disorders. Sweating or flushing can be seen with several hormone disorders, including pheochromocytoma, carcinoid syndrome, and hyperthyroidism. Puberty II: Electric Smellygoo?

8. Neurologic conditions. Uncommonly, neurologic conditions including autonomic dysreflexia, posttraumatic syringomyelia, stroke, and autonomic neuropathy may cause increased sweating and may lead to night sweats. This seems highly likely, actually
