The Large Hadron Collider has created a hot dense soup:

"At these temperatures even protons and neutrons, which make up the nuclei of atoms, melt, resulting in a hot dense soup of quarks and gluons known as a quark-gluon plasma," researcher David Evans from the University of Birmingham told the BBC.

Some airport thoughts:It takes far more coordination than one would think to get on and off a moving walkway that isn't moving. The only thing worse than people standing on a moving walkway are people who walk extremely slowly on a moving walkway.
isn't the point of the moving walkway to rest your travel weary legs? or am i doing it wrong? :pickle:
Which part of "walkway" in "moving walkway" are you having difficulty understanding?
the part where i have to walk on it. it's moving for me. why fight it?

Hello Uranium Friends.... :pickle:

Uranium Market Heating Up: Only the Beginning

Trading Indicator : positive

osted by Adam Schatzker on Friday, November 05 2010, 9:36 AM ET

The uranium price has been on a roll recently. In June of this year, the spot price was $40.75/lb and it seemed that there was no reason for it to move higher for many months, if not years (according to some industry observers). However, in late-July, a modest amount of spot buying sent the price flying to $46.00/lb and industry participants took notice. In the third week of October 2010, many participants at the Nuclear Energy Institute conference in Savannah believed the price rally was already wearing thin and expected a retracement back to the low-$40s. However, as we know now, the price instead continued to rally up to $53.50 as of this past Monday and looks set to post ~$55/lb this week.

For some time now, our uranium thesis has forecast a rally and bull market starting in late-2011. It looks like we were wrong, but perhaps only on the timing. While it is unclear whether this recent rally will march on unabated, our belief in our bull market thesis remains unchanged: the world needs more uranium production and we need prices in excess of $75-80/lb to incentivise new production.

To add fuel to the fire, this week it was reported that AREVA, the French uranium/nuclear company has entered into a long-term contract with China Guangdong Nuclear Power Company (CGNCP) to deliver 20,000 tonnes of uranium over a 10 year period at a reported price of $75/lb. This agreement is one of many that has been made over the past two years by countries and utilities looking to fuel their growing needs.

From our recent discussions with industry participants, it appears that the spot market is being starved from the supply side. The mid-term market (1-3 year delivery) has become more active, possibly driven by utilities scrambling to cover near-term requirements and there have been a number of new requests for offers in the market for deliveries in the 2012-2019 timeframe. We believe it is the impending shortfall in the long-term market that will ultimately drive the price beyond the $70/lb level in late-2011 to early-2012. Hold on to your hat, this one should be fun.

Fight it? You're not supposed to walk the opposite direction. You walk on it to get from point A to point B as quickly as possible. It's not an amusement park ride. You're not being casually moved past an animatronic reenactment of the Treaty of Versailles signing.

Did you see the Hold Steady on Sunday? They were playing in Austin at the Funfunfunfest

look, i just switched planes 3 times.. i've got a 3 hour layover in Newark. i'm in no rush to muddle through the construction barrels in the concourse just so i can get shivved by some homeless guy at the coffee bar.

I prefer shrimp bisque myself, but a nice hot quark-gluon soup sounds pretty good now that it's getting cooler.

Maybe with Melba toast? I loves me some Melba toast.

Why is Indy getting points this weekend? Is this a trap game?
People are expecting the Eagles to come out on fire with Vick and DJackson back and all rested up after the bye. Throw in the fact that Indy is quite a bit better at home and WHALA....you have Indy getting points.
Andy Reid 11-0 after the bye week. He's full of steaks and ready to roll.
that's fricken insane

Anyone else use Swag Bucks to get gift cards?? In a little over a month I have already gotten four $5 Amazon gift cards.

You get "SwagBucks" for doing searches on their site, along with some other ways. Their search engine blows so I only search for places I go to already, so I search for "football guys", woot, hotmail, facebook.... you get the picture. You will randomly win between 8 and 12 bucks. I think I get about 3 of these a day.

A $5 Amazon gift card is 450 points, and is the only thing worthwhile I can find. For some stupid reason a $25 gift card cost more than 5x the $5 one.

You can also get 4 free bucks a day by doing a daily poll, using their toolbar, looking at surveys (not actually taking them). So that means you can get $15 in gift cards for a minute of your time a day. There are also Special Offers you can do to get more bucks. If you start doing the special offers I would recommend setting up a seperate email and facebook account. Many of the offers result in spam, and some require installing apps on facebook.

Anyway, here is my referal link if you want to take a look.

If there is some interest I will start posting the quick and easy special offers that I find.

I would have liked to make it down for that but had a wedding.
Oh yeah. Update?
As expected, the single female situation was dire. That didn't stop it from being a great couple of drunken days/nights. Probably helped, if anything.Friday night post-rehearsal dinner shenanigans may have put my groomsman status at risk, assuming the fairly uptight Baylor bridesmaids had enough influence. But fortunately "stays here" was upheld enough to keep any rumors from spreading beyond the groom's side.Open bar at the rehearsal dinner led to five of us wanting the party to continue, which led to the only place we knew would be open past 2, which led to bad decisions. :goodposting:

I seem to remember a discussion about Kat Denning (Dennings?) in chat one day. Well, guess who has salacious cell-phone photos out.

Never heard of her before, so I turned to the google....DO NOT WANT. yuck.

I'll take a PM.Maybe I'm just not getting the right pictures of her, but she is not very pretty in my eyes. Kind of homely. I mean...the cans are nice. So that's good. But her face is a turn off. For me. Different strokes.

This thread is too hard to keep up with just checking every couple of days. Could one of you start posting a daily synopsis?

Hey GM - you were talking about self publishing a book? Check out www.createspace.com It might be what you are looking for there.

Oh, and if I were to draw a graph of my whiskey and other consumption on a daily basis it would look a bit like the eastern face of K2. 60 hours a week working and hopping on a plane Friday and Sunday nights to do midnight feedings and change diapers for a couple days will do that to a fella.

Am watching "Get Him to the Greek". For those of you who haven't seen it, there is a line in there where P. Diddles tells Jonah Hill to "go with your Destiny" - meaning a stripper named 'Destiny'.

Totally got the giggles thinking of our GB Homer. :kicksrock:

:hifive: Thanks GB. I keep meaning to do this, but have been slammed. Will check it out now.
