If I posted in here more often, would that annoy Fish? Because annoying him is something that appeals to me at the present time.
No one cares if you post here as long as you aren't long-winded, preachy, insufferable, self-righteous, wishy-washy, or annoying. You also are not welcome to post about anything regarding politics, religion, social theory, history, human behavior, any of the physical or life sciences. Or anything about spirituality, cooking, cricket (sport) or crickets (insect) or most anything else.

Cool?
Yeah but I want to annoy Fish.
The fact that you may draw your next breath annoys me. I really don't care if you post in here, as long as you understand what this place is all about.

Cal has been a mess this year at school. I'll spare you a lot of details but it has been killing me inside. It has made so screwed up I even thought that somebody here, that I've considered a GB for a long time, was mad at me. Anyhow, just minutes ago I received an e-mail from his teacher that he told her I beat him. Again. This is the second time this school year he told her that. The worst part is he then said he wants to kill himself. I don't believe this to be true but it is sickening all the same. We are meeting with his doctor tomorrow about changing his meds and another trip to a psychiatrist on Friday. So if you wonder why I've been MIA a lot from here the last month or so, that's why.
So sorry to read something like this. Hope you guys can turn a corner soon and I really apologize if trying to arrange a meetup in St. Louis contributed in any way to your stress levels, GB. Sounds like I couldn't have been coming to town at a worse time for you.

I'm sure it doesn't help much, but in our family we've seen our share of troubled kids. I'm one of 18 cousins on one side of the family. 15 are older than me and most have multiple kids. Some have had some really hard times growing up. Always well taken care of and loved, but just found struggles with learning and/or emotional stuff for whatever reason. Sometimes there just isn't a good explanation. The silver lining, I guess, is I can tell you that they all eventually grew out of it. They've all grown up to be good, productive folks. We all have our little, I don't know the right word, maladjustments maybe, that we have to deal with and those kids were no different. They each seemed to have settled in comfortably to adulthood though. Here's hoping this is just some hard core growing pains and he'll be able to grow out of it like they did as he gets older and matures.

So, I got a situation. Curious as to how others would handle it. My sister is a 50 year old loser. She was recently fired from her third minimum wage job this year. Because she can't manage her own life, she has to live with my 70 year old widowed mother. Also living there is my 13 year old nephew. Sister and nephew live rent free, and she is responsible for pay for her car, phone bill, and the water bill.

Total monthly bills equal approximately $500. She constantly fights with my mother, and is basically an unappreciative #####. This morning my nephew got in my mother's face after another fight between mom and sister, telling her he is not afraid of her. My sister did nothing about this, claiming he was protecting her. My mother has been saying for the past year she is going to throw them out, but hasn't done it obviously. What I want to do is throw my sister out on her ###, and beat the #### out of my nephew, but I'm pretty sure that's frowned upon nowadays.
My grandfather's wife's 50-year-old, 400-pound son lives with them and is a real peach. I looked into this a couple of years ago in case my grandfather were to try to throw him out, and in that state at least he had to treat him as a tenant with notice, etc. Sorry to go all lawyerly but there's a good chance she can't just kick them out. fish or Thorn or Leeroy Jenkins or someone else who actually knows about real estate law will be by with better advice.

If this is Alabama beating the #### out of the nephew is probably OK, though.
At least in my state, a person can't claim to be a tenant-at-will unless there has been an exchange of rent.

Just had this real weasly kid come up and tell me he doesn't feel well. Back when I was in the Navy during WW2 we called guys like this "goldbrickers". He never wants to do work and always has an excuse for why he's not doing something.

So he comes up and says "Can I go to the office? I don't feel well." I asked him what was wrong. He points to his side and says "I have a cramp." :eyeroll:

Whatever. If a kid says they don't feel well I send them up. Don't care.

But on the note for the office I wrote "OK to Office (cramps). 10:39 OPM". He didn't notice what it said. Hope the office staff got at least a chuckle.

You're screwed unless mom wants them out, plain and simple.

We rented a car yesterday so that we could go buy a car (####### Atlanta). After driving about 40 miles in it I went to the gas station and put in two gallons to get it back to Hertz with the same amount of gas. Totally thought about Abe the whole time. :lmao:
I have to pull an Abe today with a rental!
Still sitting on half a tank here, bro. :coffee:
Such a waste too, ain't it?

Also got clocked for going "Hisashi Iwakuma fastball" in Kern County, so I guess I'm helping to pay Tanner's salary at some point in the next few months.
Fine, don't stop and say "hi".
Wrong freeway. And I don't f around when I'm driving.

Disneyland wasn't so bad. Lots of awful tattoos (Disney-related and otherwise), but late September mid-week with decent weather, it was reasonable. Pretty short lines, we basically walked on to the teacups. There's no bloody way I'd ever go there without kids though.

Speaking of bloody ways, CQ, you mentioned your daughter had made it through a month of HS without getting pregnant...has she had her period yet? Let's not count our chickens here.

"Hey teach, you misspelled 'gramps'."

So, we're getting sued. As I've mentioned before, we have a few rental properties here in Knoxville. We have had issues with this one house for a while... paying late, ducking phone calls and visits when late with the rent, etc. We started the eviction process about 4-5 months ago, but they came up with the money at the last minute and we stupidly ( :wall: ) let them stay. The wife is a real piece of work, but the husband is a good guy who really is trying. Mr. YSR will throw him some labor work from time to time to help lessen the burden of rent for them. Basically, we've tried to help them the best we can.

Last night, a sheriff showed up with a summons at my in-laws' looking for Mr. YSR. They also had one for my FIL (who I think is listed on their lease as the property manager, since we were living in FL when they moved in). Apparently, the wife fell in a hole LAST OCTOBER and hurt her arm, and she's suing us now. She's hired an attorney and the summons is asking for a list of all of our assets.

Our lease has liability language protecting us against injury, etc., but this is going to be a pain in the ### and it just makes me angry.

Did you at least give me the finger as you drove through/by Buttonwillow?

I have this one kid. Kind of short and round. He looks like a miniature John Belushi. Good kid, too.

About once a week he wears this grey t-shirt (like 'Property of USC Football' or "Nebraska Athletics" etc)

His says "HARVARD LAW"

Then underneath in a slightly smaller font "Just Kidding"

Cracks me up.

Watched the "Pilot" of Breaking Bad and thought of you more than a few times. Show seems pretty goodish.

Yeah, it's not awful.
Question:

In the Pilot, he threw some red phosphorus into a fire and gassed out the bad guys holding guns to his head. Did he kill them? I wasn't expecting this guy to be a murderer, but maybe he is?

I can probably try and watch the next one to figure this out on my own.

F spoilers for something that aired 5 years ago.

And yes you will understand what happened in the next EP.

Breaking bad spoiler sort of:

as it turns out, a show about a mild mannered chemistry teacher doesn't have much meat in the bone so there is a reasonable chance that the main character turns out to be a bad guy

You do a bottle flip like Tom Cruise in Cocktail and lose control and the bottle goes directly into one of the old broads' eye sockets?

Well, since everyone but Tanner and Bentley kinda suck right now...allow me to add that clinical depression is really unpleasant.

I don't think I've ever talked about it here, but I've been on antidepressants for the last 5 years. Apparently it's a genetic thing because back in '08 when I went about a month without speaking to another human being (other than those selling me beer, cigarettes, or food) my one sister finally got a hold of me and let me know that literally every one of my six siblings went through some serious psychological issues in their early/mid 30's. My first response was considerable anger...how the #### do you not tell me that BEFORE I went two years wondering why I felt like killing myself every friggin day? Anyway, I saw a couple doctors and went on meds and straightened back out to the old Homer again, most of the time.

The thing is, though, that when external factors come into play, like being out of work or having girlfriend issues or money problems or whatever, I really tend to go into a shell and avoid any kind of contact with people. And that, in turn, makes me get even more down on myself. While back home, I had tons of friends and family that would kind of force me out of that spiral and get my ### moving again. Here, however, it's a different story. I have plenty of people I can call and hang out with and have a blast, but they're not the real thing.

Having been a bartender at a really popular place, I see people I know pretty much whenever I go anywhere. And I'm always cheerful and friendly and heyhowyadoin, but it's 100% reflex. Being a bartender, I've mastered the 20 second conversation and everyone that leaves that conversation always thinks "what an upbeat, friendly guy that PJ is. He's the best!" But it's so fake. Not even close to real. Like I said, it's reflex. I'll be purely miserable and run into someone, have the quick conversation and walk away laughing and think "What the hell was that? " My smile is gone the second my back is turned. The whole time I'm talking to someone, all I can think is how much I want it to end.

And so for the last few weeks I've been as bad as I've ever been. Even with the meds, I've gone literally days without getting out of bed. It's so horrible. I've avoided every possible social obligation. I've avoided a smoking hot chick that totally digs me and I would really enjoy dating. I've completely destroyed the friendship of about the only guy out here that I was really tight with.

Basically, I can't get right. And I don't know how.

I swear on a stack of Bibles that this post started out as a standard TWP and I hate hate HATE talking about this #### but I really can't get out of this rut. I guess I just needed to talk it out for a minute.

TPW to those with real problems.
I considered taking the private way out but WTF, my life is way out there already, might as well release a little more of it and maybe it will help some people.

You're not alone my brother. I totally get the "100% reflex" thing. I'm exactly the same way. Drives Mrs. SLB crazy because then I get home and I'm how I really feel inside. I've tried anti-depressants about 6 years ago I guess but they took the edge off me too much. I couldn't function at work. It would be like giving a boxer Valium right before a big fight. I quit taking it after a couple of weeks.

Depression runs in my family as well. Both of my parents suffer from it. My Mom has spent more days in bed than she has been functioning the last 6 years or so. I contribute most of this to her selfish little #### daughter. Because of my Mom, my Dad is depressed a lot. Just one more thing I have on my plate every day.

Exercise really is the key to things. I couldn't imagine how much worse I would be right now if I didn't do it. There are days, much more often lately, I feel like just staying in bed all day too. I absolutely, positively, totally get that. Thankfully I have this cute dog that gives me a total guilt trip if I don't take him for a walk. Once I start going, there are days I find it hard to stop because it makes me feel so much better.

So again, you're not alone. You know where to find me if you need me. Love you buddy.

P and S

You know what's really depressing? I can't have booze until next week because I have to get blood drawn.

Cal decided to "use" his mother's razor in the shower last night. He came out with a big patch missing in the middle front of his head and patches missing on both sides of his head. I just thought my eyes were playing tricks on me because his hair was wet. Now he looks like a mental case too. Oh and picture day is tomorrow.
