GM's thread about nothing (35 Viewers)

I have had a total punch in the nuts day. Argued with wife for a few hours about money then had my biggest account yet slice their service level in half after 6 weeks because our techs are doing crummy work and giving them attitude. And my boss skipped the call where I tried to get them to reconsider and is fine with the cancellation because he and the other owner didn't get along well.

Although your mileage may vary, especially if you don't have a crazy sister being enabled by her unstable mother.

Well, I had a blast for the first 75% of the night. My memory over the last couple of hours is a little foggy, as I may or may not have consumed a substance for the first time in years, and it made me a bit of a goofy mess by the end of the evening. I distinctly remember NEEDING to get a slice of pizza at some point and disappearing and eating the biggest, greasiest slice I've tasted in years (but oh, so delicious). Then coming back, apologizing for leaving, and then stumbling off again. I ran into a couple of women from my office and had a drink with them. I thought it would be funny to call them by the wrong names the whole time, and to talk about the movies out now that I've seen that didn't actually exist ("Thor 7--It's Clobbering Time," and "Hi Fidelity 2, Electric Boogaloo"). That was met with a mixed response, I think (confusion? exasperation? lust? pity?).

On the cab ride home, I remember calling the cabbie "Ramone" for some reason, over and over, but I don't really remember why. I don't think it was his name. I then stumbled into the basement apartment that I've moved into and slept like the dead. I woke up to my son prying open my eyelid and telling me it was time to play Call of Duty Ghosts (the X-Box is in the basement apartment with me). I felt like ### and almost puked, but I'm always ready to game with my son.

So overall a successful night. Thanks, Fatguy for inviting me. I really appreciate it.

My sister has been out of work since she and her abusive boyfriend got back from Nevada (where he got arrested for beating her as well as a DUI). Because of his legal troubles, they had to stay in Nevada longer than planned, meaning she missed work, meaning she got fired. She's a freaking mess. We don't talk much anymore, but that didn't stop her from sending me all sorts of nasty text messages last night. I called her immediately, not wanting to engage in a text battle. She was incoherent, crying, obviously drunk drunk. But it really bothered me because she sounded despondent, uttering things like "I don't want to go on". Terrified me. I called my mother and told her to get over there immediately (they live a few blocks away). Then called her ex-husband to make sure he had the kids with him. He did. Not sure what to do, but previous efforts to try and help her along have been met by hand bites and 'leave me alones'.

Mom said she was drunker than Cooter Brown and made her go to bed, but doesn't think she's a danger to herself. I'm not so sure.

Sounds like we're also rolling solo for Thanksgiving since my niece can't have other kids around her yet (post chemo).

I'm going to smoke a turkey and a ham on the egg and sit in relative silence. Sounds awesome.

Will you take on a 37th job and work for my school district? It'd be great to have one user who does this on their own and/or doesn't try to lie to me about it when I ask if they've done it. (plus, we get sued a lot, so it wouldn't be boring.)

My side of the family is still having it so it's really just less running around for me. Still wish I could see my nephew, B&SIL though.

Don't get the hate for Thanksgiving. You don't have to buy presents and get to sit around all days drinking, eating and watching football while the women wait on you. Quite possibly my favorite day of the year.

That's wild. Exact same situation here except it's my sister-in-law being enabled by her overbearing mother. SIL has been pawning MIL's jewelry and forging checks (made out to herself) in order to buy drugs from a guy she met at the park where she takes her son to play. But we're the #######s because we refused to tell her probation officer that she is babysitting for us 40 hours/week (which is a lie, as I will not allow my child near her without supervision).

 
Been months since i checked in so just wanted to say hi. Feeling kinda down lately and now i feel like a butt after reading the real problems in the gmtan.

WE are hosting Thanksgiving. Two years ago we went to a restaurant with my mother and my deadbeat sister. Last year we went to my aunts who fed us turkey and microwaved bob evans mashed potates stufing. NEVER AGAIN.

 
I'm not exactly sure what's going on, but the best I can understand it my ex-wife is at my daughter's doctor and has just (temporarily?) relinquished her custody rights??????? She's moving in with me as of tonight. I can't get anyone to give me any information about what's going on, and I'm an hour and a half away and working.

She's got a boyfriend, but he seems like a pretty stand-up guy. I seriously doubt it's anything like that. I always assumed I'd end up with custody of my daughter at some point due to a lot of conflict between her and her mom...I figured it would be as a teenager, not at 9.

She's got a boyfriend, but he seems like a pretty stand-up guy. I seriously doubt it's anything like that. I always assumed I'd end up with custody of my daughter at some point due to a lot of conflict between her and her mom...I figured it would be as a teenager, not at 9.

I wish she'd just have fun. she just went to a weekend horsecamp and was arguing with me about something before she got out of the parking lot when I picked her up.

she rides horses, plays basketball and takes guitar lessons, but she acts like her life is miserable.

daughter. think ex-mrs fish hit the end of her rope and is giving up.

And you probably already know this, but it is perfectly normal for a 9-year old girl to be miserable to her mom/dad, about everything. They can only dwell on this stuff. That's what they do. That's why it's so important to be solid.

Oh, and I was supposed to move in with the GF in January when she's done remodeling. My daughter was going to get the former master bedroom, and already picked out paint and stencils to decorate the room.

GF doesn't want to take her on at this point if I have full-time custody.

The GF realizes she loses if she forces your hand on a choice, right? Some women don't get that or like the competition. My MIL broke up with a guy because he spent too much time with his daughters or something. They're college age or slightly older, mind you, but also lost their mother when they were younger. The fact he put up with her weirdness should have been enough for her to keep him around.
