GM's thread about nothing (22 Viewers)

Also, how many more times can networks, movie promos, radio stations and middle-age women at parties play the song "F You and F her too" before it's been overdone and played to death?
I made this same point in the Best Songs of 2010 thread, and was astounded to find that the majority of the FFA people reading the thread had never even heard the song.
I was at a New Years Eve party where the women ranging in age from 31-65 played this song on repeat and danced to it like they were in Glee. It was funny and mildly entertaining at first. By midnight, I started pointing champagne corks towards the iPod machine and drinking in hopes my ears would stop working.

What was the uranium etf you guys like again?
There isn't an ETF yet for Uranium. We've been buying miners. There is a closed end fund called Uranium Participation Corp, but I don't own it and wouldn't recommend it at present time.
UUU and UEC?
I do like Uranium One quite a bit. It trades UUU on the Toronto and SXRZF OTC. It's the company best positioned to prosper with higher prices due to their properties and exposure to Kazakhstan. UEC is a decent option, though I don't currently own it. I might at some point.

still pretty sure I've never heard this songbut I hear the one about Galileo about 10 times a day.
Do you watch football games on mute? Or do you skip commercial breaks entirely? That's the only way you haven't heard the song I'm talking about. You may not recognize it, but Fox has most certainly bestowed it upon you during commercial breaks for football games.

Sequestered in Memphis / Subpoenaed in Texas

That's the lyric that's been stuck in my head...that's The Hold Steady, right? Is that one of their better songs, a typical song or not one of their better efforts? I THINK it's the only one I know and I don't love it. I don't hate it, but I don't like it enough to seek out anymore of their stuff.

But they sure have a good reputation with a lot of you, so I'm willing to dig deeper here.

The Bills don't play on Fox too often so I guess I might not have noticed it. Otherwise, I'm normally watching the Red Zone channel or watching the games on Short Cuts with no commercials. Either way, I have no idea what it sounds like.Just watched it on Youtube. I'm sure that I've never heard this song before in my life.

That's them. I'm a big fan, and I don't particularly like that one, but I think there's very little consensus among their fans, other than everyone loving most of the tracks on their album Boys and Girls in America. It's a cliche, but they're definitely one of those "you have to see them live" type bands. Definitely not for everyone though. Hard to describe why. There's nothing particular "artsy" about them other than the lyrics, and the lead singer's voice and style of sing-talking isn't for everyone.

Yeah, that's them. It's a pretty average song for them imo.Get the "Boys and Girls in America" and/or "Separation Sunday" mp3 folder, listen at least three times and report back. That should give you some idea, but performing live as "America's favorite bar band" is really where they earn most of their love.

this is the (non-Katy Perry) song I hear over and over and over again

Thanks GM and SLB.

Kill me now.

I'm on a packed flight to Tampa, in a window seat in row 30. Aisle seat is occupied by a 350# behemoth. Middle seat occupied by a lady constantly sniffling, coughing and blowing her nose.

Could be worse. You could be in the middle seat.
I think that would be equally as bad.Should I start one of those "I'm on a flight, will answer questions" threads?
Pretend to answer your phone, say "Oh, hi Dr. Plankton...yes....that's correct....what?....what does that mean?...how contagious?...but I'm on a plane now, I can't...repeat that?...so anyone next to me is at risk?....I can't hear you, you're breaking up....DOCTOR PLANKTON? HELLO???....." and then just look at your phone with a blank stare.

AMC is going to run Breaking Bad from the beginning starting some time this week. It might be tonight. I missed like half the first season so I think I'll rewatch it all.
What is this show about? Can somebody sum it up for me? My TV viewing is really embarrassing. I watch the Bachelor with my wife, mom and sister and have resigned myself to the fact that I'm nothing more than a white wine sipping, closeted moho with no more pride. As if that's not bad enough, I also still watch Survivor. And I'm probably one of the only ones left in the world still holding onto The Office. Other than that, I don't really watch anything more than re-runs of Curb, Seinfeld, Entourage, etc. I like Bill Maher's show when it's on. We've been going through The Sopranos for the last few months, so that takes up a lot of our time (GB the library where you can get all the episodes for free).

Oh, I also like Celebrity Rehab, Millionaire Match-Maker and Rehab at the Hard Rock when they are on.

Also, Jeopardy, Judge Judy and Maury Povich if I happen to be home when they are on.
Chemistry teacher sees his students raking in big cash dealing drugs. He's dying of lung cancer so figures he'll leave his family (disabled son and pregnant wife) some quick cash by making meth with a loser student. His BiL is DEA. Hilarity/chaos/drama ensues.

There is a 5 page thread titled "THIS SUMMER! grant us all the power to drink on top of water towers".Am I the only one (other than GM I am sure) that doesn't have a clue what this means?
Hold Steady fan club thread. They're a rockin' little band.
Ah. I know/like the band. I rarely pay attention to lyrics in any song unless they catch me as just being horrible, which makes me a music snob failure.

I don't know this song, either. My god, I used to listen to music. What happened?

I had to pick up a script for Cal at his doctor's office and some gal pulled up next to me. I heard her say "come on Chase, come on Blake" or something. I wasn't really paying attention since it was 3:30 and I was really hungry since I didn't eat all day. I beat her to the door so I held it open and turned to see this 6'3 (heels? Who knows!) really skinny, really hot chick standing in front of me. I was a bit , she thanked me and looked to be pissed off as all hell. When I left I noticed she was driving a massive, top of the line, Escalade.

I'm not sure who she is but I have a way to find out.

Stay tuned....

Aw man, the Doobie Brothers broke up!
ROMANCING THE STONE!
 That's also about where I'm at regarding music. I have no idea what is being discussed here.
You should go into the 2010 Desert Island Draft and do some YouTubin'. Lots of links provided.
The last time I listened to "new" music was in the 90's and I started dressing like a lumberjack.

This thread is useful without pics.

Right, but that would be interesting. You'd be like an aborigine dropped in the middle of a big city.Or maybe not, it seems like stoner-ish music made a big comeback this year.

I just got :goodposting: a copy of The Social Network, watched the first minute or so and I think I already hate this movie.

It gets better, right?

Full disclosure: Big fan of Fincher, can't stand Sorkin, fairly agnostic as far as Zuckerberg/FB goes.

The initial scene is likely the most Sorkin-esque dialogue, although Zuckerberg's character does have a clipped speech type all film
