GM's thread about nothing (36 Viewers)

Actually funny story leading up to it.

My mom was set to retire on Dec 28th of last year and started having anxiety attacks about leaving the job she's been at for 35 years. Dad gets a call from the head office in Texas that they need him in Germany to train a bunch of guys or something. He tells them he can't go until after the New Year...thinking he'd wait until mom was retired and surprise her with adding a week to his trip and them getting to take a vacation out of it. So the company agrees, dad books them both for January 15th.

On Xmas eve mom surprises us that she's not retiring for another month, Jan 28th, cause she doesn't want to deal with the anxiety during the holidays.

We visited this place today, met the very charming owner, and watched how the cigars were made. I purchased a pack of six cigars for a contributor to GMTaN. If interested, please post. If more than one interested, we'll have some sort of contest.

SLBob, you are not eligible as I bought a separate package for you as thanks for the gooey butter cake.
Interested.
Also interested.

Oof. Sorry, GB. Here's hoping for good news and a speedy recovery. On the other hand, I have to think that furley is pleased at this recent turn of events.

Thanks all.

I still need to review the security cam footage -- but during the estate conference call today, I heard from my head of security Clarence that some guy with a cheesehead and bad breath was seen putting the waterhose all over my driveway on Sunday night right before the storm hit.

I just gave Dylan a hug and kiss goodnight.

Me: I love you so much Dylan, sleep good.

Dylan: I love you too daddy. But I love Shadow more.

Me: What?! You love the dog more than me?

Dylan: Yes.

Me: Do you love Shadow more than mommy?

Dylan: Oh no.

I'm not getting enough sleep. I woke up this morning in a semi-zombie state. I got ready for school, made oatmeal for breakfast like I always do, put it on the roof of my car as I moved things around inside, hopped in and took off. I usually eat it in the car on the way, but this morning I drove off with it sitting up there.

:lmao: You don't have to do that but I do have two humidors.
That settles it. You get the package with the two rum-soaked cigars in it.

Buying a house at a steal and should be closing Tuesday. House has been on the market for over a year and the old owners still havnt got all their stuff out.

Stuff Ive seen so far

Oak table with 6 chairs

matching china? cabinet thing with booze in it

nice corner style computer desk

about 12 packed and taped boxes

cases of expensive foozy or something (acai berry?) stuff

excersize ball

golf clubs

boxes in garage

and

a HUGE 6-8 foot long 3 feet wide, 3 foot high wooden crate in the garage. I call it the mummy casket.

I'm dying to know whats in there. you could easily kill and shove 8 grown ups in this thing.

Final walkthrough tomorrow and i will snap some pics. Where/how to host them? Contest to guess whats in there?
This is awesome.Where is the house?

In a 2008 Health magazine study, Panera Bread was judged North America's most healthy fast casual restaurant.

In 2009, the restaurant review service Zagat named Panera one of the most popular restaurants for eating on the go.[15] Panera was also rated #1 for Best Healthy Option,[16] Best Salad,[15] and Best Facilities, among restaurants with fewer than 5,000 locations
I'm not sure a survey would be a verification of fact.
sure, but if their sandwiches really had 1000+ calories, I don't think they'd be winning these awards.not even sure how they could have 1000+ calories. They aren't Big Macs.

EDIT: http://www.panerabread.com/pdf/nutr-guide.pdf

I see one at 990. Most much lower.
:blackdot: I usually get the pick 2. Normally a low fat soup and a salad. Pretty healthy IMO. Of course the chicken noodle is low fat and judging by the picture, now I see why.
I had the pick 2 and a large iced tea for 13 cents a few weeks ago thanks to SLB. :hot:

My big screen tv just died or something. :blackdot: It's funny that I always have it on but never seem to pay attention but now that it's dead I want to watch something. I have a 32 inch in the next room but I really don't feel like getting up. I could use a glass of water though. Where are my slippers anyway? I can reach the kindle and ipod w/o getting up but I can't decide what to read or spin. I could just organize my photos on the computer here. I finally got my world soccer mag this week and I could flip that. I started to read lindys fantasy baseball but it is awful and they are clueless. They had Trev Cahill ranked as the 58th starting pitcher or something, come on. I broke wind at PT tonight while doing crunches on the table in a room full of girls and I am still wondering if they heard it and just ignored. I gotta bring my son to the kidi dentist in the morning and i'm dreading it. I should just go to bed. :hot:

Happy belated, GM. Many happy hangovers to come, I hope!

Just had my new dining room delivered. I could go back to work as I'm only about a mile away, but I told my fellow workers that I didn't know what time the furniture was coming (true) and I've also had a Bloody Mary or three (also true). Here's the set I got:

I doubt I'm notebook-worthy, but I live alone after it took two marriages to figure I'm not good at it and bought this house a few months ago. I've never furnished a home on my own with new stuff, so I'm actually kinda stoked doing this. I've got the master BR, living room, & now the dining room done. Next up is the 2nd BR once my funds recover. Then the office. THEN the 1500 sq ft basement, which I'm gonna man-cave the hell out of. I've already got a bar there, a pellet stove, and a dart board (guy I bought the house from left them). I've also go the plumbing roughed in for a bath. Frame it up, get the fixtures in, drop a ceiling, get a stove for cooking beer, and some TVs (got DTV cables dropped for 5)........I may never leave the house again.
This is great. Really happy for you. :blackdot:

My dad is going to Germany on Saturday. He asked if I wanted anything brought back. Do I want anything brought back?
Great Kinderschokolade (chocolate)Milka Cow is good as well (tell him to get the purple package)
Well, Milka is produced by Kraft. Not saying it's not good, but...not like an un-mass-produced brand.
watYeah, I was aware of that...but the purple package is ubiquitous, so if daddy can't find the other, its an easy one.

OK, my friend Sebastian just came from Rothenburg and brought me something....called KUHFLECKEN and below that it says Alpenmitch Schokolade....Google is my friend....happy cow / milk chocolate. So there you go.

Milka is the brand, and believe it or not the purple package is trademarked by Kraft. Believe me that I know this. :penalty: So maybe there's another purple, but that particular purple of the Milka--it's Kraft.

:penalty:  :lmao: I figure you knew me well enough to know that I WILL absolutely drink the hell out of some crap booze. I remember sitting with Charv when he ordered his first ever Coors Light. It was like he took a sip of cat piss on his first swallow. That beer did not get finished.
jeebus, that was right next to IU campus, right? That whole weekend is still foggy for me... who knew that mixing a couple of cases of beer, a bottle of scotch, some smokes and a fistful of painkillers were a bad idea...at least I had the presence of mind to just say NO when it mattered the most... :bag:
