GM's thread about nothing (31 Viewers)

The Americans started off terribly. I kindly watched the next couple of episodes and it did get better. Then I figured I'd DVR the rest of the season and watch when there was nothing else on. It's pretty meh but I was mildly interested to see how it would play out.

I'd grade it at a C with a few moments sniffing at C+

Justified: I gave it a shot when it premiered. It just fell flat. The first 2-3 episodes were filled with clunky dialog and hamhanded plot points. Timothy Elephant is a pretty good actor but not good enough to make up for Walter Goggins. Goggins is like Michael Biehan's special ed half brother with a glue sniffing problem.

I'd generously grade it at a C- only because I suspect there is a chance it got better. I just didn't feel the need to see if it did.

No idea what the hell Helix is so I googled it. Pretty much lost me at "SyFy".

Never watched Hannibal. The promos looked rather schmaltzy. And do we really need more Hannibal Lecter? Haven't there been like 5 movies with Lecter in them? It reminds me of that bull#### Judy Blume pulled with "Tales of a 4th Grade Nothing". The original book was great then she realize that the real cash cow was Fudge. "Fudge-a-Mania", "SuperFudge", "DoubleFudge", "Fudge-a-Palooza", "Fifty Shades of Fudge". Enough.
Just tried doing a shot video of me reading this post in a cranky voice but I kept cracking up.
Oh man. DO IT AGAIN
No actual shot.
Did you use a script?

I'm with you, except I kind of liked Cable Guy and never finished Eternal Sunshine....was a bit weird for me. The rest of his work annoys me to no end. I find him to be insipid.
Dumb and Dumber down?
Barf
Too highbrow for you?

It's not like Frosty works in movies or anything.
Not in the 80s
Working knowledge of the classics down?
Obviously I'm working on it. This is an example.

Maybe it is because I'm the youngest of 4 and my parents were in their late 30s but I was exposed to all that old stuff when I was younger.

Of course it might be because when I was a kid there were only 3 networks and you were ballin if you had 12 cable channels.

Thorn congrats. Didn't see the backstory. Want as partner? Tia
Left my firm as a 5th year associate this week to start my own firm with two others. Told my old firm on Wednesday, they asked me to please get out by Friday, I have a trial Tuesday. #### got hectic real quick.
Hippling here, so maybe it's answered later - but how does this work? You get to carry all of your work/clients with you (i.e. it doesn't belong to the firm)?

Hi happy people, quick question.

We had a situation the other night where Miss was almost mugged. Since, she's freaked out early in her sleep to the point I have to grab her and hold her until she calms down. When she wakes up in the morning, she barely has any recollection this happened. It's only been three days but she really is freaking out. Does anyone have an idea what I can do to help her?

TIA

Self-defense course and some mace usually helps. Can you PM me a picture of her so I can be sure?

Can I just delete posts in here where people quote twenty indented posts that make reading on mobile a complete joke?
Trying to delete nested quotes can be a pain the ###. Although I do it as much as possible, I can see why some people would say #### it.
Granted, I'm an idiot - but I can't figure out how to delete nested quotes.

Oops - meant to say "#### it - don't wanna be bothered"

She was well taken care of in regard to defense. She's having nightmares because of the situation. Pics of her aren't hard to find if you follow the blatant clue I left.

Counseling for her is probably the straight answer. Anti-anxiety and/or sleep meds would probably help, but they can guide you.

Are you sure you know what "blatant" means?

Is a few days too soon to seek something like that? Would they give meds so soon?

It could be me then, carry on.

I've been mugged before. Time is really the only answer.
Miss is really bugged when she sleeps. Anything like that happen to you?
i didn't sleep well for several months. nyquil helped for awhile. locking all doors and setting braces against them helped too. my fear (irrational as it was) was that they would find me and break in.

My daughter just about walked in on the sexy time with the wife. Closest time ever. She was at the neighbors and had just left. Ran back to get her bathing suit #rough winter

Good times
How close exactly?
running up the stairs yelling "mom!" door was closed, but not locked. i acted like i was in bed for some reason  , wife ran into the closet naked, with the light off :lmao: daughter came tearing into the room, looked at us both kinda strangely, shrugged it off, and asked her mom where her blue bathing suit was.

Question: wife has been home with our 2.5 year old as a stay at home mom through this brutal winter, essentially house bound and losing her mind; due to weather and the like,I really wasn't able to do anything for Valentine's and didn't get get her anything (she's pretty cool and claims its just a stupid holiday for women to post to Facebook the lame crap their husbands get them, but still); her 30th birthday is in about two weeks; oh and, minor detail, she is due with our second in 2 days -- wtf do I get her, and how the hell can I possibly do enough?

I locked up her local favorite restaurant for a brunch for 30 or 40 of our closest friend and will foot the tab (its an amazing place and includes all you can drink bloody marys and mimosas), to happen a few weeks after the baby arrives, but I really need to go big here with a present I think.

TIA
Take a week of paternity leave, during which you will work as many hours doing anything she wants you to as you normally would at work.
this

be there for her completely. and plan a trip together six to eight months from now.

or get her some work out dvd's.........tell her to get her #### tightened back up

Thorn:

My cousin is a lawyer in the Bay Area. He was with a pretty big firm in SF. They did mostly insurance/liability stuff for some big corporations.

He worked is way up rather fast. Partner etc etc. About 5 years ago (when he was about 45) he broke off and started his own firm with couple of other folks.

I spent some time with him this summer. He said "I should have done it 5 years before...despite the fact that I was set."
 everyone I've talked to that has done this has said essentially the same thing. It's ridiculously nerve-wracking, but I'm about as certain as I can be that this is the step that needs to happen.
Wanna make out?

[sorry YSR]
Such a whore.

Do we like Bruce Buffer? He's a joke. Why do they tolerate this idiot?
The YSR household despises Bruce Buffer.

Thorn > you sound like you have everything planned out really well, and if so, you'll never look back. Don't listen to people who claim you have to expend tons of overhead for stuff that doesn't make sense to you such as promise-the-moon online marketing initiatives, etc. Keep your clients happy, always look for new business, bill timely, and you'll be completely set. Good luck.

:lmao: at the shuke terrorist video.
