GM's thread about nothing (6 Viewers)

Orthodonist didn't ask to immediately set an account up but that isn't unusual. I stopped by 9 other places after dropping Cal off at school and two of the nine did however. The last time I made 10 cold calls in one day, I was happy. You know, single, young and had hair. I've been developing a new technique for making these calls and I'm pretty encouraged considering the results today.
I worked yesterday too.

Pitt Panthers big over the Colorado Buffalos today, right?
I went with the Buffs. My hatred for the Steelers/Pirates/Penguins has trickled down to the collegiate level.
I'm from Pittsburgh and hate the Panthers.

But I can't see the Buffs beating them.
Doesn't Colorado have a higher RPI?
isn't their best player hurt?
Was not aware of that. :kicksrock:

Just got done in my first bracket draft. It's only a quarter one, but I picked 8th and I think I assembled the biggest load of crap ever. How many hundreds of dollars am I looking at losing?

I usually pay $15 for a haircut at Supercuts which I can walk to. There are a couple of chicks there that do a good job. There's also a barber in Oildale that I go to sometimes if I can squeeze it in on the way home. He charges $10. Also within walking distance is a Great Clips which makes Supercuts look like some Beverly Hills salon. I've gone there a couple of times and the cut wasn't bad. But the place is cramped and usually full of bratty kids.
There's an old-assed barber shop on the back side of this decrepit movie theater in Pasadena that I go to. You feel like you travel back in time.

The guy who owns the place is a #### who will charge you $35 for a cut if they use scissors on the sides and back instead of the clippers instead of the normal $17, but he's not there on Sundays and the guy who's there just charges me the normal amount for the scissor cut. I tip him well.

I'll also go to Supercuts but not the one on Washington Blvd. - that's all Armenian chicks who don't give a ####, so I'll inevitably get a bad haircut. If I go a little farther away to the one in East Pasadena there are white chicks and Latinas who give a damn and I actually look good if I steer them in the right direction. The best one is even farther away in Arcadia where all the Korean and Chinese ladies work. They'd sooner sacrifice their first born than leave you with a bad haircut, Supercuts rates or not.
Once they see the cuff links and the tommy bahamas they know to put their game face on.

Good news is that it won't take you long to find out

Seems like West Coast people who work in an office would miss a lot of Eastern games in NHL, NBA, MLB, NCAA BB on weekdays since I'm assuming they often start at 4pm Pacific time. People in the normal time zones don't miss the early games or the late games and get to sleep in on the weekends.
I wouldn't say I miss them.

You'd also be surprised how many people on the west coast who work in offices are done by 4. Not sure what the percentage is of people out here who start work early and leave early is, but I'd bet it's pretty high. I'm done by 3-4pm every day. For a long time, I was 5:30 - 2ish....there's a lot of finance/market guys on the west coast who HAVE to start when the markets open at 6:30am.

Plus, in a few minutes, I'm turning the office TV from CNBC to tournament games. It's 9am. I don't have to wait impatiently all day to get some action going....action I've bet on and bracketed with action. I'm pumped. Waiting until noon would suck. I'm ready to go NOW!

so everything is fine...she just got home. from the outside, just looks like cosmetic damage. But this struck me as weird:

The other driver told the cop that she had a red light and made the right turn on red and didn't see my wife coming....clearly, it was her fault...but the cop didn't write her a ticket (or my wife). She said that the cop gave each of them a piece of paper with the other's insurance information on it. On the piece of paper, it says that police reports may be obtained in person, etc etc.

So I assume that each insurance company will take it upon themselves to obtain the police report...and I've got to hope that the cop wrote it up somewhere in the report...otherwise, the two insurance companies will try to figure it out?

I've never been in an accident before where there wasn't a ticket involved and I'm fearing the worst here. Any insight? Shuke, did you get a ticket when you tried to mow down that school bus?
They don't have to give a ticket. Some dumb#### rearended the #### out of me and another car a few months ago and he didn't get a ticket.

I was in an accident a couple years ago and I was at fault (though I didn't think I was at the time) I knew the cop on the scene and he told me he wasn't going to give me a ticket even though I was at fault.

So random question here. Wife just called and said she got in an accident (everyone is fine) and from what she says it doesn't sound like it's her fault. She had 1.5 glasses of wine 2.5 hours ago. If the cop asks her to take a breathalizer, does she take it?

ETA: the other car called the cops (so it's likely going to be a he said/she said thing)
Never blow.
My wife has been calling you for legal advice, hasn't she.

Hey, how's your family doing? Specifically, your wife.
She's doing okay, thank you for asking. Her office was closed for Spring Break last week so she got to spend the last two weeks or so with her mom, which really helped both of them. Mom is doing pretty well, too but she has her moments.Father-in-Law was a loud man. He was losing his hearing and wouldn't get a hearing aid, so the television was always blasting Eye-Talian political talk shows (even though they've lived here for nearly forty years, he still voted in local elections over there :lmao: ) and he would shout on top of them. He was always talking. Even when he was sleeping his snoring would rattle the windows. Needless to say, the house is much quieter now, which I think is the hardest thing for her to deal with.
I could move my daughter in to live with her. She's a pint-size, mobile version of Century Link Field on a September Sunday afternoon.

Does your daughter know who Berlusconi is?

Also: nominee for mismatched voice from a person. Paul janeway of St. Paul and the Broken Bones. Looks like Drew Carey sounds like Otis redding.
Never going to listen to them based on the name alone.
Abe's got a little ABC "The Bachelor" thing going on with his expect everybody to know the band he's referencing shtick. I sadly expect only Pickles and Krista to understand that reference. :bag:

I forgot to mention my least favorite thing about Seattle, which is this #$(!#(( #&$&$^^^ *(#&$J #&&@*** time zone. I hate it so hard. Can't wait 'til tomorrow when the NCAA tournament games start at break of dawn.
Up much before noon, Burroughs?

I can't imagine waiting until 1 pm for football. Awful.
I don't sleep. There is simply an appropriate time for things to happen, and inappropriate times at which they should not. College basketball at, what, 8 a.m. tomorrow? Ridiculous. There is no way I can station myself appropriately at a bar-restaurant for that. My tradition in human time zones (Eastern or Central) is to go to a place for lunch and the first games and then stay there all day and night. What do I do showing up at 7 in the morning? Toast is not an acceptable tourney food.
So you're up early, but you want to wait around for basketball to start? Makes sense.

Also pretty sure that most sports bars will be open at 9 AM and serving breakfast today. Our local is.
Yeah, they all are. This is a huge event for sports bars. Hell, even Frosty's favorite spot BW3 opens at 9am today.

She knows what manicotti is.

I don't like Bloody Marys. Maybe that is the problem.
To be fair, it took me a while to adjust. It is a major change for a sports fan used to Central or East Coast Time. I've learned to love bloody mary's but it took time too. I also get really baked and drink black coffee until 11ish.

I think we've found the answer. ;)

I also don't drink coffee. I like the smell of Bloody Marys and occasionally get tricked by that into ordering one, and then I remember they're gross.

Btw, my sleep patterns are so effed up that instead of going to sleep at like 10 this morning I decided I'm just lapping a day. I started drinking at tipoff though, so I should be fine.

Bloodys would be great if not for the whole tomato juice thing. I find the Madras to be an excellent breakfast cocktail. Bellinis are pretty nice e as well. :Gaaaaaay:
