GM's thread about nothing (71 Viewers)

Man, you know things are slow in the GMTAN when Homer and I are talking legal nuances in the Supreme Court decision thread.
:lmao: it's 1:30 on a Wednesday night. How's that west coast time treating you?
:lmao: Great.Re Brandon, it really is a crazy stretch. Could win Player of the Year.
All my friends can't believe that my friends's husband's friend is doing so well. Keep the updates coming  If I recall, he's pretty new to the circuit? Maybe he has some super smart new strategy that is way more effective than the usual approaches. Hard to believe it's just the cards he's getting
It's definitely not the cards. I don't remember his history but know he moved to Montreal a while back to play full- time, but didn't stay for too long and was sleeping on the couch in the recording studio when returned to Chicago. Mr Krista says he's been cleaning up in the cash games too and has made over $1 million already, before this event. Guess he can buy his own couch now.

Poor Guster. Went from having this awesome road trip with Thorn and Rude planned to pretty much flying solo from Cincinnati to Beerhole. :(
wait, what?
there's an outing called beerhole. it will take place in Milwaukee over an upcoming weekend. Guster lives in Cincinnati. Thorn was going to fly to Cincinnati and they were going to drive together to Milwaukee, while also picking me up along the way. Then I changed my plans to join SLB on the train and Thorn booked a direct flight to Milwaukee. Now Guster has nobody to drive with unless Shuke feels comfortable leaving his wife with the babysitter.
I almost have to go now. What are the dates again?
I plan on leaving my part of town ~8am on Friday, July 11

That should put me in Milwaukee by 2:30

I'll be leaving Milwaukee mid-morning on Monday, July 14, getting me back in to Cincinnati mid to late-afternoon

I offer curbside pickup and drop off

Oh and I don't often take long drives with Shuke, but when I do, there's always fantasy football and cornholes involved

At this point I've essentially cut off all communication with any other girls that were in the rotation :oldunsure:
Exclusive
Just to attempt (and likely fail) to clear this up... We are heading in the direction of exclusive, but haven't actually made that commitment yet. From indications she has given, I don't think she's out dating (or banging) some other dude(s) and similarly I am wiping my slate clean so that if things continue as they have been, then it's a natural next step. Just trying to do what feels right

I kinda like this girl so want to give things the best chance for success.

To give you some indication... I TALKED ON THE PHONE with her for a half hour last night*

* dating as a single parent can be hard because I have my daughter every other night where as she is single, has no kids and has every night free. She is currently away on business this week, so we have had even less time than usual to connect.

Did Gekko delete all his posts from the True Detective thread? I'm three episodes in and wanted to read his insanity but other than a partial quote of a deleted post he has no presence in there so far.
I also started that thread from the beginning the other day. And I watched E4 last night. :hifive:

OK, I know in a thread full of guys I might not get much help, but YSR is here and some of you are good at planning events and such...

Last July, my mom turned 70 and also had her 25th anniversary with my stepfather. I planned to take them on a big trip (safari or such), but then with the getting rid of all my possessions and moving to a third-world country it didn't happen. After throwing out a bunch of ideas this year, my mom told me they'd really rather come out to WA/OR to visit because she has visited all other states but those and Alaska. I've bought them first-class airfare, set up great places to go and cool places to stay, have someone with an "in" at a bunch of wineries who has set us up with private tastings, planned a hi-falutin' bday dinner, etc. They don't really know about any of this other than the flights.

Their trip out here spans not only her birthday but their anniversary, and Mr. krista had the idea of cooking them a crazy "Big Night"-type dinner (Big Night the movie) of a squillion courses. As we planned the menu, it expanded into something where we* are going to make each course have some connection to events or people in their lives, but with the courses "gussied up" a bit. For instance, my mom's mom was known for her chicken & dumplings, which will now be "duck & dumplings" with seared duck rillons, sweet potato gnocchi and roasted duck veloute. I'm going to pair each course with a wine/port or cocktail.

tl;dr Here's my question: what else can we do to make the night crazy-special? We are not planning to eat with them but just to serve. We are going to make a playlist of all their favorite music and have that going. I'm going to get a printer to do some fancy menus. Obviously flowers, tablecloths, candles, condoms.** What else could we do?

*"We" will cook in that I will be in charge of the one dish that will remain unchanged: my grandma's strawberry cake.

**One of these is not serious.

YRS, lil help here?
You want boy or girl?

also stabbed myself with a fork trying to make a baked potato the other night. :bag:
:lmao:

What is a fork used for in the "making" of a baked potato?
Poking holes?
Which does what?
Makes the potato bake better.
Bull####.
yawn
Not buying it. I learned you were supposed to poke, but I haven't done it for years. Urban legend.
Poke holes in a scrubbed potato (I actually use a meat thermometer because my little T-Rex arms get tired poking with a fork). Coat with canola oil and kosher salt. Bake at 350 for 1 hour.

So I might be out of a job soon.

They are restructuring my division and making it a Center of Technology. The 3 year long project I've been working in has been shut down, as have all new projects.

We are now considered a Global Resource for Technology.

Sure it sounds great on the surface, but I'm a CAD Designer, not Software, Hardware, or Communications.

:kicksrock:
:( You making Beerhole?

I threw up in my mouth a little and was aroused at the same time.

I watched True Detective today. The whole thing.

And two movies. Out of the Furnace and Blue Ruin. Both get a

Never got out of bed except to pick up pizza and smokes. Toughest part of the day was that I kept having to sit up and burp all the time. Heartburn sucks.
really liked Blue Ruin

How's married life treatin you?
Married life is good, in isolation. New and Improved Wife is wonderful to be married to, unlike the original model.

The Brady Bunch thing we have going on with the blended family has its share of challenges, however.

The advantage the Mike and Carol Brady had over us is that their former spouses were dead.

1. I would like to hear more about this new and improved wife thing. Hopefully there is some sort of software upgrade.

B. Dylan's baseball team played Walnutz's son's team Tuesday night as well as last week. I noticed a couple very hot mom's drinking beer at both games. I would like to know their status's as well.

Soccer geeks seem to think this Michael Bradley fellow is worse for the US than a Hitler-led Germany.
Being critical of him seems to be more tolerated today than Sunday. It was like I insulted somebody's mom during the Portugal match.
calling him Tony Romo based on one bad game and one bad pass wasn't harsh?
One bad pass? Okay. And Tony Romo is a great QB. Not like I compared him to JP Lossman or something. Why don't you jump on other guys who are critical of him?

when you made your initial comment, he had like a 92% completion percentage or something and you said he was turning the ball over like Tony Romo, no?

I'm over it. He needs to be better, but it's silly to make him the scapegoat.

From where I sit, his turnovers seem to come at critical junctures where opportunities are lost. I think he's made more than one or two this tournament and I'm not the only one who has been critical. But I don't see you challenging anybody else who is critical of his game. Bah, goal. Neat.

I only took issue with you on the Romo comment. He's getting blasted by lots of people, some deserved some not.

my apologies if I overreacted. I'm a fan.
