I also lost $1000 in about 13 minutes at the Golden Gate once. If it wasn't money I hadn't just won at Superbowl squares and if I wasn't blind drunk, I probably would have been more angry about it.
Playing what?
Blackjack.
It's a little foggy but I had won about $700 at Craps there the night before and had just won about another $400 at Superbowl squares. I was sitting with my buddy at the GG and he was losing horribly and I was winning. I went up maybe $200 or so in a few minutes. After my buddy cursed the GG, the dealer, her children, her parents and everybody within 20' he stormed off. I started play 2-3 hands each and kep winning. Of course, I got confident and soon those 2-3 hands were $100 each. I thought I was treading water but before long (likely 30 minutes) I was out of chips.
Ouch.
My best ever run at craps was there. Keep in mind I am a very low-roller. Wife and I and a friend were there one night. I was trying to be smart and "budget" myself. So after a terrible run at 21. I had like $18 in chips left. I got up from the 21 table and saw my friend having a hell of a time at the $5 craps table. I jumped in next to him and threw down my pitiful stack.
I think I walked after about an hour with like $300. I know it isn't a crazy amount but considering I was playing $5 with some odds and no more than a couple of buy bets. Oh and some hard ways.
But the best part of it is that everybody at the table was having the time of their lives.
Somehow my friend and I started calling out what we needed in "football speak". If the point was 4 we would yell out "Emmitt Smith!". If it was 9 we'd yell out "Urlacher!" Not that it really worked but numbers were hitting like crazy.
At one point the guy with the dice looked at me and said "what do you want?" I told him "hard 9!" The whole table said "wtf". I shrugged and said "OK, easy 9". SOB rolls a 9.
