Because no way Texas would have resigned him at the contract he got. Wasn't thattt good at the time when moved. Now imagine if G.W. had signed off on that one....Seriously, how does this not get the scorn and resentment that the Sosa trade gets?'bentley said:Nice work by the Rangers trading A Gonzalez (along with Chris Young and the great Termel Sledge) for Eaton and Otsuka.
Red Zone channel is freaking awesome (free preview this week in case you didn't know). If you don't like it, just don't turn it on

I took a triple dose of Nyquil and 4 OTC sleeping pills around 11:30 and was still wide awake at 2:30.Wow.....I take 2 Benadryl, 2 Tylenol PM, and a 10mg Ambien every night before bed....... I still rarely sleep more than 5 hours, and definitely not a sound sleep.A mad sinus headache & congestion had me hopped up on meds on the couch yesterday.
It got worse during the ND-Michigan game, so even though I was crazy yelling happy as ND went up 14-0, I popped two benedryl and settled in for a more mellow experience. The last thing I remember was ND being up 24-21 and Michigan trying to make a game of it, despite ND dominating them on both sides of the ball. Then I passed out.
I pretty sure I won here. ME = WINNING.

5dimes juices their early week lines heavy.Rams getting SEVEN from Giants at 5dimes. Huh. Browns only giving 1 there. They always a couple points off from everyone else?

It got it's fair share of grief, but like I said earlier, Teixeria was to be the 1B for the next decade and Gonzalez had shown to be a great BA hitter and plus glove, but not the power. He was not going to pass Tex.With Daniels able to follow this up with The Teixeira Trade, Hamilton for Volquez, Murphy/Beltre for Gagne, getting Nelson Cruz as a throw in, etc. His wins in the hear and now have helped mask this trade a bit.Now imagine if G.W. had signed off on that one....Seriously, how does this not get the scorn and resentment that the Sosa trade gets?'bentley said:Nice work by the Rangers trading A Gonzalez (along with Chris Young and the great Termel Sledge) for Eaton and Otsuka.
1) There's always DH, or the possibility that they have to let Teixeira go. Power often takes time to develop.2) Eaton and Otsuka stunk that year.It got it's fair share of grief, but like I said earlier, Teixeria was to be the 1B for the next decade and Gonzalez had shown to be a great BA hitter and plus glove, but not the power. IMO, trading Danks for McCarthy hurts maybe more than losing Gonzalez.
From doing this for 2 years in college I can say it's not worth it unless doing it as full time job. Internet makes this much easier, but it's still a huge pain. What would it take to become a local bookie?

Me too.I'm at zero. But plan on spending my first single weekend with Disco Stu.
I'm obviously still a long way from catching up on this thread. Making another attempt though.OK, some power. (I did relook at those numbers before I typed that). Still at that point the infield of Tex, Soriano, Young and Blalock was going to be one for the ages, and no room for anyone else. The team still needed pitching in the worse way and thought they had something with the trade.I still don't like the trade of course. Gonzalez on this team now would be special. No Power? It got it's fair share of grief, but like I said earlier, Teixeria was to be the 1B for the next decade and Gonzalez had shown to be a great BA hitter and plus glove, but not the power. Buffalo BillsI just uncorked a larger than normal size wager on ONE NFL game this weekend. See if you can guess which one it is....Also, am I the only idiot who thought St. Louis Bob's NFL contest was ATS?![]()

Yeah, too many pages. Skipping ahead.Am I crazy or is there Ranger talk in here?Wow, you caught up quick. Impressive.
Smoak seems like the perfect fit for Billy Beane. Light hitting 1B who can take some walks (his OBP better in the minors, but so was his surrounding cast....that Seattle offense will go down as one of the worst in modern history).'bentley said:Smoak was :meh:. Kinda like Davis, who plays for the Orioles now.'Frostillicus said:Ouch. Between trading Gonzalez and Smoak they've jettisoned some 1B talent. At least Chris Davis is still there.lol'bentley said:Nice work by the Rangers trading A Gonzalez (along with Chris Young and the great Termel Sledge) for Eaton and Otsuka.
No kidding.Stop talking about f###ing baseball!!!!![]()
Not just Ranger talk, but 2006 Ranger trade talk.Yeah, too many pages. Skipping ahead.Am I crazy or is there Ranger talk in here?Wow, you caught up quick. Impressive.
Well it's not like Beane TRIES to get guys who are light-hitting, it's just too expensive normally. But they did trade for Brandon Allen at the deadline, and he has pretty good power potential.Smoak hit for a lot of power in college. Maybe it's just taking time, a la Gonzalez.Smoak seems like the perfect fit for Billy Beane. Did not realize it until now
And I was in it last year

Chris Carter was/is a big-time power prospect too, right? Assuming he's still in their system, desperately trying to make contact.Well it's not like Beane TRIES to get guys who are light-hitting, it's just too expensive normally. I imagine playing in the first slot on Sunday after (the later second slot on) Monday would also be a terrible record for them. The Raiders are 2-7 straight up over the past three seasons (2008-2010) when playing in the Eastern time zone
I can't imagine they've been on MNF very often in recent years.Looking back, they had no MNF games in 2010.In 2009, they opened up with a home MNF loss to the Chargers and then won on the road in Kansas City in week 2.They also had a short week midseason when they beat the Bengals at home but then lost a Thursday night road game in Dallas 4 days later. In 2008, they had a similar start. Lost to the Broncos in the MNF opener and then beat the Chiefs in Kansas City in week 2.Had a Sun-Thurs short week again later on but they only had to travel to San Diego.I imagine playing in the first slot on Sunday after (the later second slot on) Monday would also be a terrible record for them. The Raiders are 2-7 straight up over the past three seasons (2008-2010) when playing in the Eastern time zone
He walks a lot. Carter's been a mess, but let's not get racist and lump all African-American power-hitting 1B in together.Homer, I'll take my :e: banning now.Chris Carter was/is a big-time power prospect too, right? Refresh my memory on this one...I thought Beltre signed with Texas as a free agent? Or was there another Beltre? I'm kind of lost.It got it's fair share of grief, but like I said earlier, Teixeria was to be the 1B for the next decade and Gonzalez had shown to be a great BA hitter and plus glove, but not the power. Thought Carter also played some OF, albeit terribly. Great AAAA hitter...He walks a lot. Don't really like the half point tacked on to the 3....what's the elevation like in Buffalo? Any chance SBass starts kicking from the Oakland 40?The Raiders are 2-7 straight up over the past three seasons (2008-2010) when playing in the Eastern time zone
lol @ elevation. it's like 500 feet above sea level.Don't really like the half point tacked on to the 3....what's the elevation like in Buffalo?
