GM's thread about nothing (27 Viewers)

Random thoughts.

I hate one of our local weathermen with a passion. But I can't stop watching him. So self important and huge drama queen. I know most weather people are like that, but this guy is the worst.

How is that Outsourced show still on?

Cape Fear remake is pretty underrated. One of my favorite DeNiro roles.

I need somebody to remind me who the FBG's on my facebook page are. I think I could identify 85%...but man, I'm terrible at keeping things straight.
So here is what I hate about FB. I'm 48, second time around doing the we're starting a family thing. I got married pretty late the first time, had my oldest when I was 34 (good decade after most of my friends from h.s). Then darling baby girl and Mrs B2 come along a decade later. Basically, my toddler is in preschool, my olde school friends are newbie grandparents.

So I'll see something pop up on someone's wall on FB, and next thing I know I'm checking out random photo pages on hot chicks I went to h.s. / college with, and thinking dayum she is still smokin'.

Then I realize its her daughter.

Note to self: Do some more Bobby Layne stalking.
:kicksrock:

Yeah, I haven't exactly embraced the Look At Me! :style: on FB.

I just can't get into it like some people do. If I'm enjoying a great dinner or a show or doing something cool with my kids, the last thing I am thinking is 'hey, I should blast this out to my 200 FB friends!'

However, I do love checking out fat (or bald) people I haven't seen in 30 years. One guy sent me a note about all the great times we had back in the day. Just didn't register (I never knew we called him by his middle name - FB has his first name, which he goes by now). TWO YEARS LATER I finally realized he was my closest friend junior year of h.s.

I hate middle age.

What's a good book that could be called a Love Story? Need some help.

Cheater
There are definitely some categories where I have no idea. Considering pulling an imp and drafting something like the 2011 Federal Budget as my fantasy novel.
I thought more people would understand drafting The Invisible Man (mediocre crap) side by side at turn with Invisible Man (awesomeness) was a not very subtle dig at the Sci-Fi category. I understand some people like it, but I just don't think I have read a single SF novel that wasn't assigned to me - and that was 30+ years ago. So I just did an eff this ####.I think maybe one person caught it.

Just want to let you guys know I'm probably going to strangle my wife tonight. I think a couple people could track down my real name, and TRE knows the city I live in, so you'll be able to see me in the papers.

Hopefully they have the internet in prison.

Possession by A.S. Byatt
Listen, #######, and I'm not kidding...I can think of almost no love novels I'd want, and I had that in my back pocket for a very-late-round pick that no one would be taking, as it's one of only a handful of novels that might fit the bill that I can tolerate (and in this case, really enjoyed). So you take this and delete it and never speak of it again, lest I reign timwrath on you. (Also totally not kidding about the book.)

Cigar-mailing has been delayed due to circumstances beyond my control; to occur early next week.

facook and 'ninja, I need your addresses.

Frosty, if you take Possession at any point during the draft, may g(G?)od have mercy on your cigar-smoking soul.

Pretty impressive accomplishments over the past couple days for the Friends Of GM's Thread:

StLB joined Facebook

Frosty got a cool man-toy for alone time

BostonFred got to see pics of a uterus and ovaries

Gadzooks masturbated

SLBronk saw a spider in a urinal

GM landed a big account

Gadzooks masturbated

Shuke got a promotion

Anything else?
I had the best fried chicken I have ever eatenDoes that warrant the GM Thread Index?

I have no idea what that is.

A 20-year old romance novel about two fictitious Victorian poets. Gwyneth Paltrow starred in the insufferable movie version. I don't think you're going to be fighting for it.

1) Agree on Outsourced. Horrible. And this new show they wedged in-between Community and The Office stinks, esp. b/c it pushes 30 Rock back to 10. And no hot chick can save a flaming bag of #### show like that, I'm not 12 anymore. Thankfully, I DL shows from the internet and watch them commercial free.

2) Congrats on the promotions/job landings/various accomplishments. Now that I'm working on full commission, I know how good it feels to land one. It's alternating dread of a cold streak, punctuated with the sheer ecstasy of pulling one down.

3) My mom has graciously offered to babysit this Saturday night. My wife and I are going to a motel, then grab burgers, then go to a bookstore. :blackdot:

4) Pilkington is brilliant. Love him.

So yeah googled that and
Yeah, pretty sure you had to do some time in the pen to enjoy that thing.
Oh, how excellent that the first FBG she thought about with this thing was me. Neat.
:lmao: I thought you linked a site and video of that thing a few years ago. I know the old memory is not as sharp as it use to be but thats not the kind of thing I forget guy. While we haven't purchased any such toy, I can assure you that "spot" exists.

Sorry. Love that book. Easily in my top 10 of all time. Didn't know you were also drafting.

Not in this thread, but Shuke had a revelation and switched from Khakis to slacks.

Probably due to the promotion...congrats, shuke!

I got a new FBGs username. Also made the love to my wife last night, which, given prior postings, seems to warrant a mention.

Frosty: You can take The Unbearable Lightness of Being by Kundera.
That's a great book, too.And yes, the movie of Possession was dreadful. Not really a surprise.
I see that ULB was taken, though.I refuse to believe that Possession was ever made into a movie. If there was ever a book that should have been content to remain a book, it was that.
Actually this seems like a good strategy, which I will adopt.

Apparently those Dora/Diego Espanol lessons have worn off for my son.

Me: A lot of times you don't actually get out of your class right on time because your teacher is a little....manana.

J:  ....She's not little!

Coinciding with a 1 year lull in our eat-off thread, no less.
I've lost 10 pounds since the eat-off ended. Seriously.
You're knocking the cover off the ball. Good for you.Just ran 3.5 miles in 30 minutes. Hoping to do a half marathon in 2 hours or less by June. We'll see. It's....it's a goal.
Is this exchange some kind of sick joke? Well it's not funny. Quite the opposite actually, it hurts to read this. This is a sad day for America. I guess the terrorists won. Instead of posting pictures of yourselves stuffing your less-than-skinny faces with beautiful food, perhaps in 2011 you could post pics of yourselves running on treadmills in fancy spandex outfits. Or maybe a pic of you 2 sharing a stick celery "Lady And The Tramp" style. Selfish jerks. Whatever. I'm done ranting, I'm gonna go eat some red meat with mayo on the side.

Hourly rate?
F that...they got a babysitter.
Update: Mom is spending the night too, so we can stay out as late as we want.So do we go to the motel first, then go out, or motel after going out? I kinda like the idea of hitting the motel first. Always better to do that before you eat, if possible.

If it's not hourly rate (LOOK AT ME I DON'T LIVE IN THE GHETTO!!) - motel, eat, bookstore, motel.

Yes...hit it twice...the room or whatever.
