Early, I so hear you on this. I'm the same way with my 19yo. He's taking some tough college classes right now and many of his classes are early in the morning. He hates getting up early. I told him it's on him to get up but then again, we are paying for his classes right now and I don't want him to miss. :sigh: He's been doing it on his own but it's difficult not to go and make sure he wakes up.
It's so hard to let go but I know I have to. If the boys wouldn't make such dumb decisions, it would be easier. lol

It's a little late for Mardi Gras, no?Thanks Facook but it isn't anything special. My Dad & Uncle who drive up there, about 400 miles round trip, every couple of weeks to spend time with her/them, that's special. The priest that arrived as we were leaving to spend time with her and the other patients, that's special. Part 2
Like most boys, my GF was larger than life to me. He also seemed mysterious because I didn’t get to see him very often since he got transferred to the Bloomington area as he worked for State Farm. He actually lived in a little town called Lexington where he rented a farmhouse. I always thought he was a farmer, which made him even cooler in the eyes of a young boy. Of course my teenaged Aunts that just got moved there were miserable. My Dad said they played Alice Cooper’s Escape over and over on their record player for almost two years driving my Grandparents crazy. I can’t say I don’t blame them.
My GF was about 6’1, played the guitar, banjo, and harmonica. Not one of those dime store harmonicas either, I snapped this this picat the funeral home. Here is a pic of him and Cal playing their harps at Christmas in 2006. I gave my GF a harmonica signed by Stan Musial, his favorite player. Stan is known for his love of the harp as well.
He also had an unreal voice that would rival Frank & Tony B. We were all at a bar for a party back in the mid 90’s and there was a karaoke contest. The younger crowd sort of groaned as he got on stage but when he was finished the place erupted in applause. He won the contest easy. On top of all of this, he was a handsome man as well. The priest, seeing pics of my GF as a younger man, asked is he was ever a model. Just having one of these traits/talents would be good for most but my GF got dealt a bad hand from the start. My GGF had a bad heart and the doctors told him not to have children. I’m guessing being a hard head must be strongly coded in the genetics of my family because he had two sons and a daughter, my GF being the oldest. My GF was 8 years old when his Dad died of a heart attack at the age of 34. I often think about the Butterfly Effect in all of that.
They were already poor and the brother of my GGF wanted to split up the family but my GM wouldn’t hear of it. My GF was thusly thrust into being a man at a very young age. He helped in every way he could to make money to put food on the table. My favorite story is how he and his brother would wait on overpasses for a train with coal cars to pass under. They would jump onto the tops of the cars and kick coal off as fast as they could then jump back on to the next overpass. They would then go back and collect the coal in a wagon, keep what they needed to heat their home and sell the rest. They would also collect the wood that accumulated next to the tracks to sell as kindling. From what I understand boards were used to secure cargo and they would often wiggle loose. One time some other kids in the neighborhood wanted in on the action and beat my Great Uncle up pretty bad. My GF found one of them and beat him unconscious with a two by four. That was that.

A few years back I got an IM from a friend of my. Her son had Silly Putty stuck all over his balzac. She wanted to know how to remove it. My first reaction was "why does she think I have experience with this?" I suggested "use a belt sander".

went through it back in December. I think it only took about 3 weeksAnyone gotten a passport renewed recently? I just realized that mine expires in two weeksand I'm supposed to leave the country 5/16. Last I recall hearing, they were taking months to get unless you lobbied your congressman or something silly like that.

Only in Berkeley: Eating outside at a restaurant, and saw a hipster stop a Syrian guy (and a Sufi, it turned out) on the street because he had some friends who were Saudi Arabians, and was he Saudi Arabian? He prattled on for a good 90 seconds in a monotone Ulyssesian single sentence that encompassed pretty much everything he knew about people from the Middle East, which was not much. I swear I'm not making this up, our one-year old actually put both hands over her ears as this douchey hipster cornered this guy on the street and prattled on and on. We were cracking up.
The Syrian guy, to his infinite credit, went on to explain his beliefs and philosophies on religion for at least a good 20 minutes to a complete stranger. When we left, they were walking off down the street the other way.

GD! I performed a wedding on Saturday and was filling out the license this AM. I put today's date on it instead of Saturday's. Now I have to call the county clerk's office and pay for a duplicate. I don't know what happens after that. I have this crappy feeling that I have to somehow get the two witnesses to sign it again. FML.

CRISIS AVERTED!Spoke to the county clerk and all I have to do is go down in person, pay them $5 and get it fixed. I do not have to have anybody re-sign anything. You can all go back to what you were doing before.

It was probably because I was getting very frisky with Mrs. SLB when Cal opened the door to our bedroom. I got him back to sleep right away, things resumed and then Dylan starts crying. Mrs. SLB got dressed and went into his room to comfort him. I was told he was having "growing pains" and now she was no longer in the mood. Stoopid kids.

I once spent the better part of a Father's Day with a rented steamer removing wallpaper that wouldn't come off using just wallpaper stripper. The guy at the rental place said something to the effect of "You should be putting this money toward a divorce lawyer." I should have listened.

He has singlehandedly torn down walls, sheetrocked, mudded, sanded, painted, installed light fixtures, molding, door casings, and baseboards a good 1/2 of this house (we bought out of foreclosure and there was water damage to two bedrooms, the hall and the hall bath). There is very little of that work that I can do, so when he's away on business during the week, I take on the projects I (think I) can handle.
