GM's thread about nothing (49 Viewers)

Speaking of which, I've been battling a head cold all week and haven't had a drop of alcohol since last week, unless you count NyQuil. Proof positive that I'm not an alcoholic :thumbup:

I think I'm getting hammered tonight. :unsure:

 
So I gave blood today and the advice is to avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours. And, as always, I'm thinking "#### THAT!" I'm getting 10% drunker on the same quantity of booze after donating. As a matter of fact, one of the things I look forward to with donating blood is the cheap drunk that follows.

And speaking of fb...why do people post their relationship status on fb? I get why teenagers do it. I don't get the adults doing it. Attention cry?

 
We closed our business yesterday, and have been moving office furniture into storage today. I should be sad, but I already feel as though 40 pounds has been lifted off of me. My fiance is the one who started the business, so he is experiencing/will experience all of the emotions that are tied into a small business failing (shame, guilt, embarrassment, etc.). I know the next few weeks/months will be hard on him, but I'm positive that once we are on the other side of this thing, he will be a new man. 97.5% of any stress that he and I have in our relationship has been due to this office.

Things are going to start looking up. :thumbup:

Sorry to hear about your business. I don't know how you businessy people do it. I spent 15 minutes researching how to get a business license for my wedding thing and almost puked.
 
I know a girl I went to school with who's in my field and struck out on her own. According to a mutual friend, she made a stupid amount of money next year. She makes Scupper look like prosposis. Only one year, granted, but that #### is tempting.

Working together is not something I'd recommend to anyone starting off in a relationship. We've been working together for 15 years but if we didn't already have a child and strong relationship at that point, I'm not sure we wouldn't have killed one another when the business was starting off. I hope you find something to fall back on quickly! Best of luck!
 
There's not a damn thing on TV tonight. My old lady is working the Salt N Pepa concert, most of my GBs are busy and I only have about 6 beers.

This may be the most boring Saturday night I've ever had.

Working together is not something I'd recommend to anyone starting off in a relationship. We've been working together for 15 years but if we didn't already have a child and strong relationship at that point, I'm not sure we wouldn't have killed one another when the business was starting off. I hope you find something to fall back on quickly! Best of luck!

We have another office open elsewhere, so it's not the end of the world (although that office will undoubtedly be affected by this closing). We will be okay for a few months, which will give us time to finish this house and sell it. Then I'm hoping we move back to my hometown in SC and just start fresh there. It was his dream to own a business and not work for anyone else, so he's certainly bummed on some level. He said a little bit ago that today (moving all of the furniture out and telling the employees) was both one of the best and one of the worst days of his life. We need some time to recoup and then - with all of the lessons learned in this venture - I'd be happy to support him in starting another office. Except you're right about working together; I want no part of that anymore. ;)

Last time I gave, I was told no alcohol for 4 hours.

Am I really that beetchy? :mellow:Sometimes I feel like we've been married for 40 years. Then I remember I'm 36. I'd say there's not a thing about him I don't know. There's a great comfort in that I suppose.
