GM's thread about nothing (42 Viewers)

Tonight I'm bringing the kids over to my parents in order to give the wife a much needed break. My parents are going to be out of town, however
This may need to be explained to me.
How can this possibly be confusing.
Women are less confusing.
I think I see. I am bringing my kids over to my parents' house tonight where the three of us will sleep, although my parents will not be there, in order to give the wife a peaceful evening to herself.

I'm gonna post my Belmont pick in here, the GMTAN THREAD. I love a horse. Waited 5 weeks for this, after going over the Kentucky Derby replay.

MASTER OF HOUNDS

Not gonna go over ALL the reasons; you either know the take on him already or will hear why in all the lead-up shortly. MoH's finish in the Derby was really impressive to me and coupled with skipping the Preakness and the added distance he's flat-out the horse to beat, imo. This is a classy, lightly raced colt who went through a lot in his first race on dirt; he has every right to improve, and not just a little. This crop is still very suspect to me, which is why I picked horses like him and Animal Kingdom to begin with; a little improvement is all it will take (and of course taking to the surface).

I was loving that there hadn't been any talk about him. Yeah, he didn't run in the Preakness but also probly because he's been across the pond... And with the whole rematch thing, along with Nehro's return, it was shaping up like a nice price for sure. But that has all changed of late, damn it, so much so that I'm afraid he's becoming the "sexy" pick, whatever that means. So we will get about half the price I was hoping for but so be it. Yeah, LOVE this guy on Saturday.

:deadhorse:

Nehro for second, although I haven't decided for sure who I'll play in the exotics...later. Anyway, GLGBsintheGMTAN!!! :banned:
I like it, Sonny. I'm on Nehro to win, with Hounds, Animal Kingdom and Ruler on Ice rounding out my exotics. GL!

It isn't, but your use of a period instead of a question mark is mildly upsetting. Actually, I do wonder, why doesn't your wife stay at your parents' house, instead of kicking everybody else in the family out?

My future BIL is throwing me a bachelor party tomorrow. It is mainly for her father, uncles and a few cousins so it won't be anything like The Hangover. In fact, it will be as bare-bones redneck as it can get. Starting around noon with horseshoes, bean bags and the best thing I can think of when drinking copious amounts of beer...trap shooting.

Then around 6 we have a bus to take us to the La Crosse Speedway for an evening of racing, including the headliner Faster Pastor Race. Yes it is exactly what it sounds like...a race for local area pastors. :drive:

Found out today I'm not going to make partner at my giant law firm. 50% depressing, 50% relief. Probably my ambivalence about the prospect of being partner here is why it isn't happening. Think I'll get drunk tonight. I am NOT looking forward to telling my wife. She is going to freak out that I need to find a new job. On the good side, the firm is giving me several months to look around and find the right fit for my next gig.
Also, I'm 50% hoping you land in a better place and keep your chin up, and 50% happy that you're able to move on.
:goodposting:

My wife is awesome. I thought she would have a giant freakout, but she was OK. After sleeping on it for a night, I have decided that while I am not particularly excited about the looming paycut, I am feeling energized at the prospect of doing something different next. I also won't miss, at all, a number of the a-holes in this office.

One of my best friends from way back in high school is currently living at his mom's post-divorce, and thus is a block away so he can come hang out.

Can I ask which firm? I'll take a PM if necessary.

Went to pick up my daughter yesterday from her friend's 'last day of school' party. There were about 200 kids there, more than half of which were 7th-9th grade girls running around in bikinis. It was Homer heaven. Now that I think of it Homer - are you still in Y-town? If so I'm maybe an hour away. I'm sure you could have made it in 30-40 minutes considering the circumstances. Sorry, Bro.
Damn it, I need to be informed of this kind of stuff!!! :hot:
Twitter, IMO.

Oh yeah, I cashed the check that had the c-word on it. Pretty uneventful, really. The cashier lady looked bemused but not particularly offended, but I managed to deflect from myself by saying I didn't really know the guy that well.

The highlight (and true):

Me: "This is the kind of guy...who got drunk once and puked in his child's toybox."

Teller: "That's disgusting."

Who goes to a teller anymore? Also, who was this?

Non-FBG. I usually don't, but made a special exception this time and reported back to the league.

I need a breathalyzer for my phone. Scatter shooting texts last night was not good. :bag:
Sadly, all I got was "Sports panties."
Same. And I had just put the kids down an hour or so prior so i was in the mid 2nd quarter on the DVR. Thanks ****.#FML #GoMamricks
Oops. But "sports panties" might not be a spoiler.
I suppose this is a good sports point, especially since I received the same text around the same time from Holla.

I'm warming up to this beer. It's essentially a cheaper version of Budweiser.
It really wasn't bad. At least not after starting with vodka sodas. $3 for 16oz was the main appeal though.
Most Portland bars sell the 16 OZ for $2 or less. I love tall boys. And I love cheap prices. WIN/WIN.Also, there is a case of PBR in my house right now. :bag:

I, too, have a case of PBR in my house right now that I purchased for $10.50
