"Toastmasters are dorks.........except for my group." Good shtick.
I was just elected President of our group. I plan on ruling with an iron fist. :nerd: :nerd: :nerd:
OK, I'll bite, what's a Toastmaster group?
They are clubs that meet with the purpose of helping you with public speaking and communication skills. The original intent was to help people give good toasts at events, I guess  . A typical meeting will last an hour, have 2 or 3 people give prepared speeches that last anywhere from 3 to 9 minutes long, people who evaluate those speeches, people who count your verbal pauses, someone who asks random questions (table topics) where people will come up and talk for 1 to 2 minutes on the question without any prep work.My speeches so far have included, "How The Rangers Will Never Win The World Series", "My Only Play In Organized Sports", "My Top Three Christmas Movies" and something I stole from a TED talk.

Most clubs are public, if you find it, you can attend. Our club is strictly coworkers within the company. When you meet a hardcore TM member you will know it right away, and if you don't, they will find a way to bring it up in conversation quickly.

That actually sounds pretty useful. Do high school english teachers still spend a little bit of class time on this subject?

I started the Couch to 5k program this afternoon. I've always wanted to learn to run and learn to love to run, but I get so bored. This seems to be a really cool and completely doable program (thus far, on day one) for people who hate to run.
Is this something one would need to buy or is there some sort of free version? Sounds perfect for me.
www.c25k.comThere is a $2.99 app that I bought, though. It allows me to play my music on my iPhone while this runs in the background, and gives me cues for when to switch from running to walking, when I have reached 1/2 way point, etc.
Stick with it. Started with this in March - now running 16 miles a week and training for a 10K in October. So anyway, it works. Good luck.
   I did that half in June and have gotten SO lazy this past month. :pig:I have to sign back up for boot camp and another half so I can get my lardbutt in gear.On a fun note, I think I mentioned signing up for an "all girls" half marathon in May (Hippie Chicks Half). I'm not facebook buds with that race organizer after meeting her in June and now she taunts me by inviting me to ALL women oriented runs. I think I might take her up on the offer and try to break their little code. Don't I sort of have an obligation to do this? For mens rights? Or shtick?
I'm doing a chick 1/2 in November.
Like a Transexual?

gllllli recently finished up my 3rd course of couch potato to 5k. previously my running habit was interrupted by birth of babies. took time off to help the wife and then got back on the horse.had never ever run on purpose before starting this program. now i love it. :thumbup:it's completely doable. don't get discouraged. stick with it and in no time you'll be knocking out 5k's a few times a week.eta: don't #### around with equipment. get the right shoes, socks and sweat wicking clothes. your feet/knees will appreciate the socks.. and your thighs/nipples  will thank you for the sweat wicking socks/shirts/undershorts.

is there a "favorite random bs story/line buried in a thread?" thread?

Ham's tale of nearly being attacked by a bear in Yosemite, the day after falling 10 feet and smashing his head on a rock leaving him unconscious for 45 minutes, in the "girl eaten by bear" thread qualifies.

"Meet The Teacher" was last night at my son's school. He is going into the second grade. One of my favorite nights of the year. All the young, hot teachers getting at their absolute best to welcome the new batch of young minds they are going to mold. I have said it many times, my teachers did not look like this at all. My son has had a 9, an 8.5 and an 8 so far as teachers. I always make a point to go see his kindergarten teacher (the 9) because she always gives me a big hug every time I see her.

Besides the teachers, it's just awesome to walk the halls. The parents run the full gambit. You get the super hot early 20s moms in their huge SUVs and perfect bodies, faces and hair. Dads show up late from the office, or even better via Skype on a tablet from the road. You also get the moms from the one trailer park near the school who is clearly on her way to working dancing the third shift. They are so proud of their kids, and their new tramp stamps. You also have the mom who does not speak English, so she doesn't know the ironic comedy that her "All I Want For Christmas Is You" tshirt in August is causing.

Again, simply one of my favorite nights of the year.
 Every year we have a 'welcome back' breakfast for everyone that works in our district. This is one of the only times I get to see all of the women that teach at our K-5 schools. We have some serious talent in our district. As far as moms go...the parent/teacher conferences we hold in Sept are pretty special. A lot of sluttily dressed moms. Granted they are a little older since their kids are in middle school but still hot (especially for a 40+ dude like me).

One of my other favorite things is when I teach summer school. Summer school includes kids as young as 1st grade. We're all required to supervise the parking lot at the end of the day when the parents come to pick up the kids. Dozens of hot, young moms in their smallest summer outfits hopping in and out of their SUVs. It's magical.

I'm not creative enough to make this #### up. It is the ultimate badge of honor for this family.A real big triple LOOK AT ME:1. I'm super interested and involved in everything my kid is doing2. I'm too important and too busy with generic businessman travel to actually show up at the school3. And with my tons of cash, I can buy niffy toys to show off the first two points

Does FBG have an 'iPad Thread'? Or does anybody here know anything about iPads?Question: How do I delete multiple emails at once? Currently, I have to hit 'edit' and then select each email one at a time. Very time consuming and annoying.Google took me to a video of a guy who downloaded an app called "Deletemail" by something called "Cydia", but I have no idea how to install that on an iPad.Help?

I have one sibling - a little sister. She's driving 100 MPH towards a brick wall. When she started this journey, she was going 45MPH and the wall was 100 miles away. Now it's in sight and if she doesn't tap the brakes now, the aftermath is going to be ghastly. Today, tomorrow or the next day, there will be a "Come To Jesus" meeting with her, absent her husband. It's not going to be a pleasant experience for any of us, but I think it's time to act. We're at prognosis negative here. Not for her health or anything like that. But she's making horrible, awful, stupid, ludicrous, asanine, destructive decisions that are negatively impacting not only her life, but the life of her kids and today - my kids. The wall is going to destroy her soon. She's completely out of control. This is going to be ugly. An intervention seems to come with a guidance counselor; we don't have that. But we might need one. Anybody go through this? PMs appreciated for anyone with experience. I'm down to that....I don't know what else to do.
I have experience with this and while I'll be light on specifics, if that is the way you feel about her that is what is most likely going to happen to her. Leave no stone unturned when you try to get her help and don't listen to her resistance to your attempt to help her and when you wonder if your pushing to hard, or even enabling her, try to think of the other option for he - which will be her death; I wish I did.

My wife's 10 year HS reunion is this weekend. I've only met one person and she doesn't keep in touch with many more. Will it be as awkward as I think it's going to be? It there typically a "corner" for husbands that don't know anyone and just want to drink and talk sports or something?

My wife's 10 year HS reunion is this weekend. I've only met one person and she doesn't keep in touch with many more. Will it be as awkward as I think it's going to be? It there typically a "corner" for husbands that don't know anyone and just want to drink, touch wangs and talk sports or something?
good luck to you chief.
:lmao: Wait, zooks is going to be there?

well lets not beat around the bus...lets get to the point, huh?
Is "bus" a new Canadian euphemism?

I think it's called the bar.
Hmmm you may be on to something

I need to move to Keller. None of the teachers at my son's school are hot. Though I kinda have a thing for the principle. With a few exceptions, the moms aren't great either. Mostly house fraus. Doable percentage can't be more than 10.

Today is my annual work group (~1,000 people?) outing at the local third rate amusement park. Unlimited free beer and wine, Tournaments for wiffleball, volleyball, basketball, cornhole, plus poker and unlimited access to the amusement park + large pool. It's a pretty nice thing for the group to do, but goal for this year is to redeem myself from my performance last year. Apparently I thought it would be a wise idea to pound beers all day long in the hot sun without eating or drinking any water. I ended up spilling half a beer all over a girl I was trying to chat with who it turns out has a vote on if/when I get my next promotion :smooth:First beer gets poured around 10:30! :banned:
You still work for the same company?

I wish!

shamwow = Frank the TankI was thinking we could get started on those thank you notes tonight, Sweetheart.

If any of you guys in here like money, I recommend betting the Saints this weekend. I could post a real long writeup as to why I like them, but no one would read it anyway. g'luck
Give me a synopsis. Was thinking about playing Saints 1st half big. due to the fact that the Saints played last friday andTexans played Monday. Plus the Saints 1st team offense played horrible last week. Whenever this happens, Brees is a madman the next week

Should we car pool, or would you rather we just meet up at the bar? I'll be wearing white pants and a dragon shirt. Can't wait to meet your MRS. and her friends.
