GM's thread about nothing (16 Viewers)

Back to school night tonight. Was thinking about staying home and having my kids carry around my old Gateway Laptop so I could Skype with them, but the battery life is down to 45 seconds. So I guess I'll go.
:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Then you ask your kid to bring you closer to the teacher and act like you are looking down her dress.
:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: That would be a hilarious scene for something...save this one.

What does X sing? Anything I'd know? Are they kind of like Zebra?

If I were to download a Pixies album, which would you recommend?

Stu - Digging the DBT tunes. Much better listening than the other CD I burned.
X - an old punk rock band from LA.
maybe?Pixies - Doolittle is more accessible than Surfer Rosa. I'd start there. I pretty much missed the boat on these guys though. Same with Sonic Youth.

DBT -

Pixies - Surfer Rosa
Tanner confirmed? What about X? I remember reading about them in Rolling Stone in the late 80's...something about Whiskey a go-go or some such?
Tanner can go into much more depth than I can, but their first two albums; Los Angeles and WIld Gift are both very highly regarded and ube rinfluential on the LA music scene in the early 80sI am partial to More Fun in the New World, with The New World and Must Not Think Bad Thoughts being the highlights IMO

This, I like!

But what about The Minutemen, Flesh Eaters, DOA,Big Boys and the Black Flag?

Will the last American band to get played on the radio please bring the flag?

Please bring the flag!

Huh. Guess I had been confusing X with XTC, who I hate. Dummy.

Also often confused with King's XX >>>>>>>>> (XTC + King's X)^Infinity

Well Doolittle is considered by most fans as their best but you can't go wrong with Surfer Rosa. And there are teaties on the album cover. With X it's a little harder. "Los Angeles" is their first album and more "punkish". "Wild Gift" is along the same lines. When they get to "Ain't Love Grand" they've moved on to more accessible stuff. Think roots-rock with some country and punk thrown in.

Well ####. I wore something similar to these all week at a furniture install. Mine were all plastic or whatever though and I was wearing shorts. Even though they are in pretty good shape they are considered my grass cutting shoes. Please don't tell me my wife is right......

Betting most here will hate this...

Pretty sure Doolittle and Surfer Rosa are two of the best albums ever made
Was able to find Doolittle with ease...struggling to get a Surfer Rosa link I like.Love getting some new music into the ears.
Do you have Spotify yet?
Yeah. meh.
 I think it's great. Instant access to millions of songs, whole albums, etc.
That's great, but I don't really listen to music at work and at home, I have a crappy laptop and am too cheap to really upgrade anything I have. But my car stereo? It kicks total butt. So I still download stuff to CDs and throw it into my mega-awesome 6-disc changer. :BOOYAH:Spotify doesn't help me there. Where it DID come in handy was learning that all the people who were raving about LCD Soundsytem were full of crap and on bad drugs. Pure awful.

Stop with the music talk!!!!
im currently bolting to railroad ties together in an effort to make some sort of table. im also painting a ram skull white.
You I think I'd like to hang out with. Not for very long, but just enough to get a taste.
:lmao: "I'd like to cornhole with you...but from across the room."
I'm really intrigued by him and think he's probably very talented and probably has a great sense of humor...but I don't mesh very well with the creative types for some reason. I want them to like me, but they never ever do.

I was daydraeming all day long about stopping in at Fudruckers and killing a 1/2 pound burger with all the free pickles and pepperoncinis I could ever want, sucking it down with an ice cold rolling rock.

But NOOOOOOOO.....wife is making tacos and we have to eat BEFORE the back to school night. :kicksrock:
