GM's thread about nothing (10 Viewers)

Crazy here right now. The President (Daniel Ortega) is in town for a speech at 3 p.m., and the fireworks (literal fireworks) started at 5:30 a.m. At this point nearly 400 Russian-donated buses full of people have passed our house, all of them honking all the way down the street. I've never been in the midst of such absolute madness. Probably best just to hunker down in the house.

GM> as someone to whom I've sent links of R.E.M. albums, have you no commentary on their breakup? Most notably, the unibrowal correlation between Truck and Bill Berry?
At this point, I kind of feel like I do when a football player or baseball player gets to the end of the line and just continues to hang on and on and on. When they finally do retire, it's just not a surprise. My affinity for REM peaked in the late 80's and eroded in the late/mid 90s. When Monster came out, I didn't even buy it. That was a first for me. I had all their tapes and later all their CDs until then. But by then, I was listening to different stuff and just kind of ignored REM. I've enjoyed their recent efforts a little, but it just doesn't have the same impact on me as a 38 year old man than it did as a 14 year old kid.

Still a big fan. I wish them all well. But them breaking up is just not major news to me. Now, if Death Cab for Homos ever breaks up? There's going to be blood in the streets. :hot:

I'd try to convince my wife that I should go fishing with a bunch of guys I iknow if there's room for one more.
 GM, I think I have an idea for your warehouse...
:lmao:Buying bunk beds now. Also, Cos just called me. He wants to do this tomorrow. :lmao:I was just tossing out June 2012, but if there's legit interest, we should do it in July, not June. June can be a little wet here. But July? Well, July is just incredible. And there is fishing everywhere around here, so we don't have to hit Central Oregon. We can fish on the Columbia or really anywhere. Oregon is a very very very diverse state geographically. Portland is about an hour from some of the best coastlines in the country and about 45 minutes from Mt. Hood. The Columbia River offers up a Gorge that is just spectacular, offering up hikes and views like you wouldn't believe. For those who love wine, I can arrange a fabulous wine tour in the Willamette Valley. Beer tours here are very popular (I'm actually doing one today) and as the Beer Experts can attest, this state produces some of the very best beers out there. Golf? All over the place. Strip clubs? All nude, full bars, no eye-gouging on price. Want to shop for your lady because she just greenlighted a trip to hangout with internet strangers? No sales tax in Oregon...great place to buy her that piece of jewelry that you just know will keep you in great graces. My point is, there's no shortage of things to do, but if we're gonna do it, we should have some time to plan it out. Unlike our good buddy Scupper, I don't have accomodations for all, so we'll need to figure that out, though we could priceline some hotels downtown or consider renting a giant house.Options abound, my good iFriends.

had a root canal yesterday and the dentist gave me lortab in case I had any pain this weekend. I took one last night and it didn't seem to affect me (I was just laying in the bed watching tv), so I didn't think anything of taking one this morning when I got to work. I guess the reason I notice the effects now is because I'm up and moving around. It's a nice little buzz :thumbup:kinda wish I had more than 20. :(
Never hurts to ask for more when it runs out...

Golf, titty bars, and all the Ducks gear I can carry? Homer J would like to partake of GMTANhole12. But can we call it Duckhole? It has a nice ring to it.

This whole fishing trip was funny #### initially but I could actually swing it next week sometime. Looks like I'll be in the bay area Friday night so I could do it before or after. Love to fish and I just happen to have the week(s) off. Are you kidding me, fishing with cosjobs in our new :moneypants: ??? Let's do this, it would be hilarious. Also, MoP just called me and said he wants to go so that's a plus.
color me intrigued.I think -fish- is just upriver, he might could swim down, too.But we need a map to the secret walk-in five pound trout fishin hole.
I'm mostly a saltwater guy but I will fish trout occasionally. Been years since I flyfished though. I don't even have any fly gear anymore.
it takes gear? crap. Lets take a charter in to the saltwater, then.
Can sit in lawn chairs in my buddy's backyard, drink beer and catch and release trout from his pond. Most are 4-6 lbs but he has a couple over 10. Not very sporting, but the effort/reward ratio is great.
a successful life is one that consistently achieves good effort/reward ratios. I'd be very down to do this. Is there a lodge or hotel or motel nearby? Can I bring brong?
Hotels and bars nearby. I also have 2 extra bedrooms 6 days a week, although one is pink and has unicorns and princesses everywhere.
I'd feel right at home.

:lmao: yeah, I figured Cos would be all over it, right now!Agreed on July. I would prefer to at least have a chance at phenomenal weather, and there's no way in hell I would leave for a weekend during the hockey playoffs.Fishing, beer and wine tours sounds phenomenal, and as long as we are 10 months out we should all (or most) be able to swing it. Golf does sound appealing as well, but transporting golfclubs in this day and age on airlines is a royal pain in the butt. Much easier to transport fishing gear, or just renting/buying something once on site.It really shouldn't have to be a major cost undertaking either. I'm thinking $500 bucks tops on flights, and most likely less, no matter from where in the US you fly in from. Maybe $150/night for accommodations, most likely less, beer/liquor/alternate options, no more than $250/person. Maybe $100 for fishing gear/bait?I think a max of $1,300/person (for 3 nights), but most would be able to get by a lot cheaper than that.OH12 interest:TUpBrongCostommyboyCharvikGMJeepZooksMr+Mrs K4Ken?TREcommisholio-fish-FatMaxThornSamFrosty?HomerJThat's 19 people right there and I might have missed someone skimming the thread.Should we set up a OH12 forum for planning on a side board?

'i have a little experience renting huge houses in sunriver, i've rented these two houses several times the past few years: http://lodging4vacations.com/sunriver-lodge-home/ and http://lodging4vacations.com/sunriver-luxury-lodge/

i've also rented this one many moons ago, its cool because its actually two dwellings connected by a huge deck with hot tub http://www.village-properties.com/index.php?action=sunriver_vacation_rentals.showDetails&rowid=8

i have a huge family we need a place that will cover at least 14 people and we rent for a week every summer in sunriver. its a great place like GM said and there's lots of great golf, great fishing and all the fun you could ever want. Was there aug 20-28, rental cost was $4400 with taxes and everything included. If you had 20 people splitting you're talking peanuts for lodging. your biggest expense will be airfare and spending money and you'll blow a lot of money down there but you won't care one bit late july through late august is the time to go.

You misspelled Viking/Lion week.
If one of your friends who claims to be a huge MMA fan tells you he can't record TUF because he's currently watching X-Factor, do you openly mock him in public?
Yes. Air him out.I watch a lot of dumb stuff, but I never understood any of the singing competitions. They're horrible. My iPod is full of people who are compelling singers.
Sorry GPJ but :whoosh: :lmao:

I must say I had the distinct pleasure of hearing cosjobs on my voicemail today, what a treat that was. Gruff voice, accent, southern drawl...checking to see when and where we can go party and, as soon as possible! :lmao:

GBD, it was like getting a call from Jack Nicholson.

I just got a ticket to Seattle for next Saturday.

I will probably stay about a week- catch the Port Angeles ferry to Victoria for a day, drive down to Portland and harass GM, maybe do some fishing here and there. Rover's going to let me base camp in Port something. Should be fun.

Had my first ever cornhole today. Waved at TRE at the Gopher game. I was five sections away and in the upper deck while he was in the lower deck, but it still counts because we made eye contact.

Is Pilsner Urquell a good beer? I have season tickets and am taking my buddy to the game. I said don't bring ##### or you're not invited again.
