I've done this before. Fittingly on Halloween. Some chick insisted that I go to a Halloween party with her. I figured she might show up even though I told her not to. Sure enough, she pulls up and rings the doorbell about a dozen times while I'm holed up upstairs cowering in the dark. Does she leave immediately? Oh no. She waits me out like a fugitive. This goes on for maybe an hour and a half, and I'm trying to do normal stuff like put clothes in the dryer. You never know the price of freedom until an unbalanced stalker is camped outside trying to listen for the faintest heartbeat.

My boring update is I have no update. After incorporating all the good advice here and elsewhere, I had the whole thing pretty well mapped out in my head and ready to talk to the boss today since he had told me to think about the issue for 48 hours, which were up today. He popped my office around 3 and asked if I had anything that we needed to catch up on, at which point I reminded him that I owed him some thoughts and asked if he had thought more about it. His reply, "Oh yes, I have, but I need some time to crystallize them. I'll find you." Thanks for imbuing me with that sense of urgency, bub.

So no idea now when all of this is going to shake out. :kicksrock:

It went just like I thought it would. The 3 year old had no clue, and I didn't expect her to, but it was important that she was there. The 7 year old knew what divorce meant ("it means seperation") which I was a bit shocked by, but shouldn't be. He really didn't seemed all that concerned, he just wanted to get back to his DVD show. When I told him I would see him often (scouts, baseball, etc) and every other weekend we would go and visit Grandma and Grandpa for the whole weekend, he really liked that idea.The wife and I both stressed that we both loved him very much and that we just didn't want to be married anymore, so I was going to live somewhere else, just like other family that still loves him very much. My son really made it easy on everyone and was super cool. I know the emotions come later when reality sinks in.

I could tell my wife really wanted some kind of Lifetime Movie scene where everyone breaks down and there is tons of drama, and when that didn't happen, I could tell she was disappointed. She spent the next hour outside on the phone while I watched Rangers/Cards and rocked my daughter to sleep.

I move out on Friday.

Little kids are easy. My 8 and 6 yr olds were great with it though the 8 yr old held back for a few weeks. When the 6 yr old asked every question imaginable (who decided this, what did you guys do that was bad, will Santa come to both houses?) I think it eased both their minds. 17 yr old has been the hardest though he was part of the big fight so I'm sure thats a bigger part of it. He still barely speaks to his father. 8 yr old avoids him a bit too. 6 year old (which is the kid ex never really bonded with) is the one that calls his dad every night, calls him after school to see if he wants to go for an ice cream, tells him every detail of life. I'm loving the new dynamic. The kid you didn't really get along with? Yeah, he's the only one that LIKES you!Life has never been better. Wishing you the same. :hifive:
