GM's thread about nothing (30 Viewers)

Lunch with the grandmother today. Apparently this will be the last one. We were going to let Cracker Barrell do all the work ($50 to feed 6), but we ended up with 9 coming and ended up cooking instead, although I didn't bother frying turkeys this year.

Happy Turkey Day GMTAN.

 
Not sure if I mentioned this before, but the week before I banged the virgin I hooked up with a 43 year old chick...guess which one decided to start bringing the crazy!

43 was at the bar last night and we exchanged some texts about a possible late-night rendezvous. All was well until I was hanging out at bar #2 after-hours and was dealing with some drama. So I wasn't really paying attention to my phone...and the 4 dozen texts this nutcase was sending me. So after I beat the #### out of my former boss (yes, barfight!) I got home and finally checked my phone and saw the extraordinary levels of bat####tery that had flown my way.

Here was my response. Screencap.

Sounds delicious. What is Shrimp Mirliton?Since we weren't planning to be stuck in Memphis, we had to do some last-minute shopping yesterday for today's meal. We have fixin's to make several different kind of mimosas, including regular orange, cranberry, mango, strawberry and at least one other I'm forgetting.

I think we got some sort of food, too.

For those of you watching the Macy's Parade, I've got a few friends that will be marching in this group right around 11:20 ET. Not your traditional Macy's Thxgiving Parade act...should be pretty interesting.

They started 2 years ago marching as a joke in a parade after the Saints won the NFC Championship game. Now they're a full fledged deal that raises a bunch of money for charity and are a blast to watch. Hopefully they represent :thumbup:

They're about to be on.. supposedly they got moved to the end because they exceeded expectations in practice.. about to be on right now.. tons of folks at the parade giving then props on twitter

Got up early to work so also cooked some chili to have for lunch. Nothing like dicing up some jalapenos and habanero peppers to discover where you might have some cracked skin or a hang nail. My fingers are on fire.

Turkey is brining. Will be starting that later (We're a Thanksgiving DINNER crowd)

 
I may have overbrined 1 of my turkey breasts. 3/4 cups salt to 1 gallon water x 3 is a bit too much. I may try another one and cut the salt by half. Everything else including other seasoned turkey was exceptional. I am also drinking a lot more as this thread has inspired me to do so.

ETA: Nickelback is an abomination

Did Thanksgiving with my daughter last night and today she's with her mother.

I'm sitting on my couch watching football, just had some leftovers, well on my way to being drunk.

I couldn't possibly eat another thing. Pretty sure I'm over my carb allotment for the day (dressing and potato salad). I'm terribly uncomfortable right now.

 
WTF!!! I thought this was supposed to be a barn burner. I left GB on my bench. Still waiting to go to my in laws so I can start getting hammered. :wall:

 
things i'm currently contemplating:

should i move my recliner directly in front of the tv and put my couch off to the side?

because really, but chair is so much more comfortable



how do people in the best albums/best songs threads find new music?

i like a lot of the things they post, but have no clue how to find out about "cool" new music beyond things like Paste

i'm trying to contribute here damnit

what should i get for my 5 year old daughter for christmas?

she doesn't really need anything. when i ask her what she wants, her only reply is a football, a brown football. She currently has 6 footballs already, three of which are brown.

my parents are asking for gift ideas for me and my daughter so they can finish christmas shopping.

when i talked to them earlier today, i may have guaranteed them a list by the end of the day.

i've been drinking for the last 5 hours, this should be fun

I did a whole load of ABT's this summer, and scooping the seeds out, the juice was squirting on my forehead. I was sweating a bit, but after about an hour of scooping, I felt like my forehead was melting off.
