USPS Priority mail gets it there in 2-3 days and it fairly reasonable.Go in at night and use the self service.

That would mean post office I assume? So, before 6pm or so. Do they pickup? ( haven't used snail mail in years...)

It'll probably cost more, but since I'm not paying that should still be allowed right? Maybe I can bump the gift cost slightly that way (getting porn imported from New Guinea isn't cheap with the current Exchange rate.)

Most post offices now leave their lobbies open 24 hours and most of those lobbies have a self service machine that weighs and prints shipping labels for you packages. The machines take credit cards and maybe (?) cash.The later you go the less likely you will have to wait.

I think I may have partially torn my achilles today. I can still walk though but it hurts like hell and I have a big knot and swelling. Other than going to the dr, ice or heat?

 
Fireplace question: If there is a crack on the floor of the fireplace (concrete) but none on the walls or anywhere else, is this a huge problem? I know you aren't supposed to have any on the fireplace walls because they expand and could lead to a fire hazard.

The metal firebox is intact, looks fine. Should I rush out tomorrow and get some fireplace mortar or is this not a huge issue? TIA.

Is the house on a slab? Only pressing problem I could possibly see if there were a room beneath it. Also seems like a pretty easy fix- get a tube of instant concrete at home depot and when it dries smear charcoal on it to blend it in.

Anyone in here have luck with a long distance marriage?I have the opportunity to apply to a job 3 hours away - the first job opportunity about which I've been excited in 2+ years. Two updates:1.) Found out that the hiring manager/director of the department is a former high school classmate of mine. We played sports together and I'm pretty sure she has a good memory of me.2.) My older sister has also applied for this job. Just found this out today. She's pretty miserable in her current job, as it provides NO gratification whatsoever.So, at this point, I'm considering backing off from applying, given that I have an "in" with the hiring manager, I would be 3 hours from my husband, and getting this job may be something that my sister really needs.<-- Perplexed

Backing out for your husband is one thing. That's a really tough decision.Backing out for your sister is a little weirder. If for some reason it was down to you two for the job, I could definitely see that. There's got to be a ton of people applying for a job like that. What makes you think they'll hire her if you back out? Are you more qualified than her? If so, there's bound to be someone else in the running more qualified, and it's going to suck doubly when neither of you get it.

I'm more qualified for the position, but she's miserable in her job. At this point in time, it would be ideal if I had a job (I do not currently, so, financially speaking) but it's not a must-have. The job is with our high school, which is a private school (not look-at-me, just to say that hiring is direct and not through school district). I called her earlier to talk about it and I think we are both okay with the sister aspect. I just need to clear up the husband aspect and all will be well. I just have a weird gut thing making it hard for me to apply for a job like this (i.e. away from him4-5 days/week).

Hmmm, kinda bull####-y to me. If you back out it doesn't mean your sister would get the job, so it doesn't make any sense to me. You back out and someone else gets it, so how does that help anyone? And why anyway wouldn't it be best for the best person for the job to win? Could be you, could be her, could be someone else. And more importantly, is she the crazy Christian you-are-inappropriate-during-football-games person? If so, then try to get the job to crush every last fiber of her being anyway.**Might not be the answer for everyone.

I've been in an apparently dry household since 3:45. I was told we were just coming over here to watch the SEC championship. Somehow that turned into getting some pizza and staying for the UFC. I've been watching Clemson in the kitchen and trying to find booze in their cabinets. :kicksrock:

I've been in an apparently dry household since 3:45. I was told we were just coming over here to watch the SEC championship. Somehow that turned into getting some pizza and staying for the UFC. I've been watching Clemson in the kitchen and trying to find booze in their cabinets. :kicksrock:

I'm going to struggle with this. :( I got a really good giftee (not that there are bad ones), but am just lost on how to be shticky with this.
 
I have a team of experts work on my secret santa recipient's gift(s).

I will spare no expense determine the best item(s) for $25-50 dollars.

I'm going to be in Arizona from Dec 28 to Jan 6. Any ideas what I should do aside from watch my wife's GB get married on Dec 30?

 
So we're joking around about pics and nothing actually had been shared and then... :shock: Let's just say that Frosty's wife is VERY beautiful. Seriously.

'zooks, you might wish to adjust your goals in terms of FBG wives. Although it's close in terms of alcohol consumption, I think Frosty might die earlier than SLB.

(You might wish to take a look at SLB2's wife, too. Gorgeous, and likely to be widowed.)
