GM's thread about nothing (49 Viewers)

I think Larry McTannersconch of Brixton would like The Artist. He hasn't really adapted to talkies either.
I also watched "Midnight in Paris" last night. That was pretty bad too. The worst part was all the anachronisms during the 1920s sequences. I should know, right?
I hated that movie. But I think we already covered this. I seem to remember IB getting up in my grill for saying I hated it.

More on Fartbarf (this is the music thread, right?):

Their Manifesto:

1. Set public expectations low, but keep internal standards high.

2. Attempt only to please yourself – if others choose like it, so be it.

3. Avoid all trends. Nothing good ever comes from following them.

4. Create what others cannot easily duplicate (and probably would’t want to anyway).

5. Everything fun mustn’t always be Fartbarf, but everything Fartbarf must always be fun.

More:

...Robotic, and somewhat unpredictable malfunctions create their live sound, as the very foundation is built on vintage synthesizers which notoriously drift out of tune depending on humidity, heat, age, how long they’ve been turned on, etc. The conceptual oxymoron in turn, becomes the futuristic primate.

Typical expectations at a live showing are a mess of tangled patch cables covering the stage, draping from one synthesizer to the next, an assault of sounds hitting frequencies and decibels sometimes only dogs can hear, grotesque Neanderthal masks, and bright orange NASA jumpsuits :lmao: :lmao:

It was bad. Lemme ask you something that might sound stupid. Was all of the time-travel #### just in Wilson's head? Were we supposed to take it seriously?

I'm going to go watch the new Mission Impossible movie in a little bit. The wife wanted to watch a movie, and I figured I wouldn't hate this one.

Anybody seen it?

Never saw it myself. I just think I got up in your grill for having an opinion on absolutely everything. How was your breakfast this morning?

I still don't get this. Oh if you're kidding around, ok, I can sometimes get intense about movies and books. But everything? You see me posting in the political threads? You see me posting in any threads except Skyrim (and I am doing a PhD in Skyrim Studies)? I might drop a wiseass remark in a random thread now and then for kicks, but that's it. A ton of stuff swims past me in here without comment.

So stop painting me with the timoscochet brush, ok MOP?

;)

I'm not stalking you from thread to thread, GB. You just seem to be very vocal on how you feel about everything mentioned here in the GMTAN. And yes, I am just busting your balls. All in good fun. I ain't gonna punch you in the face or anything.

You can if you want to, chief.

Thanks, sport ;) But honestly, I don't want to.

I haven't really used the email account linked to this login since I was given a vacation several years ago.

My inbox is jammed full of forrestmail from 2006 :excited:

Guster> Sorry about your mancave being invaded. I would not want certain people reading certain threads of mine right now.

I'm pretty sure I tipped 100% for my beers last night. The married me, while a good tipper, would not have done this.

Thanks GB Bogart. I use this place as a bit of therapy at times, so it's sort of like someone looking into my journal. Nothing I can do to stop it since this is a public forum, but I think it says a good deal that they would go looking. I've got a happy hour tonight with my friend that is going to have to leave the country. I volunteered to be her DD tonight, so it should be interesting to hear her take on it all.

If you see a blonde standing up out of a bubble bath, stop before she gets out of the tub.

He left me two fives and three singles. I took one five back and left the rest as a tip. The way his smile lit up I think I will be getting hooked up here on the reg.
Is your third drink almost always free in NY bars (when seated at the bar)? That's how I remember it being when I lived there.

Well crap.

I don't know if this will help or hurt with the Guster crazyexes, but I wanted to say :excited: :thanks: and :tebow: for stepping up in the Great Secret Santa Debacle of 2011. Received this package in the mail today. No wonder GBGuster had to send it twice because it was returned the first time for insufficient postage! :lmao:

The contents are going to ensure that the krista4 house and cars will be clean and fresh for a good long time. Have to say this is much more awesome for me than special brownies! :excited:

Our friend Guster is the bee's knees, as people of Tanner's age like to say.
You realize that's just all free crap he gets from work, right?
Haters gonna hate :kicksrock: And some of that stuff was actually purchased, but ultimately it was more of a "it's the thought that counts" move
Shuke usually leaves those rude, insensitive and socially ignorant statements to Pickles.

Midnight in Paris was a trifle and was only a huge hit because it was the first Allen movie in 20 years that did not outright suck and most people want to like Woody. Tree of Life was overblown, self-importance full of overt metaphors, meaningful to no one who is already familiar with the word metaphor.

I enjoyed more than any other of the MI films. Its what you expect, but done a bit better than you expected. See it in IMAX or XD if you have that option.

Thank you. I'm getting piled-on in the Oscars thread for saying "Tree of Life" sucked.

Darn. I should have just sent SLB a giant block of foam.

Sooo...ummm...a friend of mine may be having a bit of an issue lately.

This friend, we'll call him Guy Incogneto, has inexplicably gone from sexual dynamo to two-pump chump. It's an absolute mystery.

Last night with a supercute 23 year old spinner ended in about two minutes. The apologies lasted longer than the lovin. Or so I was told...by Guy.

Anyway, please advice! I know you dorks had to have gone through this before. This situation cannot be allowed to continue.
