GM's thread about nothing (26 Viewers)

Last night, the Trailblazers handed out post cards and pens to all fans who entered the arena. On one side was a dedication of thanks to our Military Servicemen and Women and on the back it was blank, save for an address to some sort of Military headquarters in Maryland. We were encouraged to write a note of thanks to our soldiers, which I thought was a marvelous idea and was really happy to see so many heads down at the stadium, writing notes and dropping them off for delivery. I took some time with mine and tought about what I wanted to say and began to scribble in my horrendous chicken scratch. I started off by thanking them for their service and said I was at the Blazers game and it was because of the hard work and dedication of partriots like them that a man like me can enjoy freedom and blah blah blah. At the end, I included my email address and said if anybody who reads this is a Blazers fan and will write back to me, I have a pair of tickets to give away to a game later this season. 90% of me thinks this post card will get lost in the suffle and nobody will ever send me an email. But 10% of me really hopes one of our troops reads this, contacts me and gets to enjoy a game in Portland. I wonder if anything will ever come of this. I sure hope so.
Did anyone else think you were going to start a miltary only forrest mail?Props GM. My brother has been overseas for 3 tours, and he always mentions how happy all of his guys are to read any sort of handwritten notes, even from strangers. There are a lot of enlisted guys who really don't have a lot going for them back home...so it really does mean a lot. If anyone reading this gets a chance to do anything even remotely similar...please do so.

ETA: #### it...this country is headed to hell in a handbasket

You guys hear that HBO acquired the rights to the A Song of Ice and Fire series?
I've seen this thread for years and I have no clue what it means. Guess I could open it. Or somebody could tell me what it means.

FWIW, my wife read the first two books about a year back and told me they were good. I gave the old  thinking wizards, dungeons and dragons, etc....But, after hearing a few more positive reviews I decided to give the books a try.I read the first one in about a week and I'm almost done with the second about another week later. These are not small books either, but I think they're definite page turners. Sure there is some fantasy involved, but a lot of it is more politics, betrayals, treachery....it's good stuff. I'll probably queue up the television series after I'm done with the series, but from what HBO has done in the past, I'm cautiously optimistic that the shows will be done very well also.

Series of fantasy/D&D type books. The first book in the series "Game of Thrones" was turned into a series on HBO. I actually watched the first season and, despite not digging fantasy stuff at all, I actually enjoyed it. A lot more backstabbing/political intrigue than hocus-pocus. In fact they really don't get into any Merlin type crap until the last episode of the season. Oh, and there are usually some boobies every episode.

:lmao: Two shay. But seriously, have you seen them drive??

Camping with the Boy Scouts at happening Osceola National Forest this weekend. Best thing about this forest is that it’s got trees. Yeah.

Oh and I normally laugh when the forecasters down here warn about a “cold front” but the forecast for Saturday night is 27 and a hard inland freeze.

I guess the joke’s on me.

Wow, YSR's married to Romo and looks like Brady's sister. SLB looks like Dilfer. I've always found an odd resemblence between GM and Boomer Esiason. Any other QB connections to the GMTAN.And kudos to GM for even trying to spell Youkilis correctly. Only off by one letter
