I didn't plan on starting today, but after paying later in the morning, I figured out the clock was already ticking on my 3 months.

So I went to a birthday party for one of my really good friends. Apparently there was a table of single women that had somehow been warned that I might be a bit of a manwhore at times

Anyway, I managed to connect with one of the girls and I've got to say that I'm smitten at first sight/talk to. No clue if it'll go anywhere or not, but she gave me her number, so I'll reach out at some point. This chick is so ridiculously cute it had me off my game. She's probably 4'10" pd pure cuteness. Oh and apparently she's a 23 year old virgin just by typing this out, I know there is no way this ends well, but it's like an odd gravitational pull. I just can't avoid trying.

not so fast.a new study released today claims that having a daily diet soda may increase your chances of a heart attack or stroke by 44%

(Reuters) - Diet soda may benefit the waistline, but people who drink it every day may have a heightened risk of heart attack and stroke, according to a new U.S. study.

Although the researchers, whose work appeared in the Journal of General Internal Medicine, found that older adults who drank diet soda every day were 44 percent more likely to suffer a heart attack, their research did not prove that the sugar-free drinks alone were to blame.

There may be other things about diet-soda lovers that explain the connection, said lead researcher Hannah Gardener, of the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, and her team.

"What we saw was an association. These people may tend to have more unhealthy habits," she said.

She and her colleagues tried to account for that, noting that daily diet-soda drinkers did tend to be heavier and more often have heart risk factors such as high blood pressure, diabetes and unhealthy cholesterol levels.

Gardener and her team studied 2,564 New York City adults who were 69 years or older at the study's start. Over the next decade, 591 men and women had a heart attack, stroke or died of cardiovascular causes -- including 31 percent of the 163 people who drank a diet soda daily at the start of the study.

Overall, daily consumption of diet soda was linked to a 44-percent higher chance of heart attack or stroke, compared with 22 percent for people who rarely or never drank diet soda but had a heart attack or stroke.

Gardener said that if diet soda itself contributes to health risks, it's not clear how.

Some research in rats suggests that artificial sweeteners can end up boosting food intake and weight, but whether these results translate to humans is unknown.

Even the diet sodas with their 0 calories affect your body. If you're serious about losing weight cut out soda. I'd probably cut out most drinks, period. Even a lot of juices are chock full of so much HFCS it's best to avoid them.

There are a lot of great threads on diet/food around here (and lots of conflicting statements) but this thread seems to be one of the few where everyone is in agreement. Lots of sugar isn't good for you but hfcs is even worse

I keep forgetting to post this... I have had 7 cans of various flavors of four loko in my pantry for the last year+.

It doesn't look like I'm going to be drinking them any time soon - last time my buddies and I cracked some open, we all blacked out by 10pm.

I did this when I got into fitness/lifting 2 years ago. It's helped a ton. 80% of the time I drink only three things: water, skim milk, or coffee. Another 19% is booze. 1% would be the rare wicked craving I get for a Coke: a real full calorie and powered Coke.

Yes, these percentages are at least 95% accurate.

She probably has made coffee 2-3 times in the past year, and the last two now, she trashed the coffee maker.

First one back in January, she didn't put the basket in right and burned it out.

This morning she didn't put the lid on the coffee pot and now it won't make any coffee either.

WTF?

Yeah, I think the heartstopper was too much. But the other pizzas they showed looked awesome. Looks like they get them crusty-brown-slight-burnt on top, which I just love.ETA: When I was making my Singapore reservations, I almost had to have a 15-hour layover in Minneapolis. Should have taken it!
