Looks like I'll probably be visiting Callyfornya this summer. Tanner > is Rosedale anywhere near you?
Rosedale is part of Bakersfield.
Cool, cause I'll be 2-1/2 hours away in Lakewood
That's a little too close. I'm just saying.
I figured it was far enough that I wouldn't feel obligated to cornhole. It does seem to be a little too close to Compton though :gang1:
We could meet halfway. How's Claim Jumper in Santa Clarita sound? We could invite the BSRs.
Whatever happened to them? I never see 'em post anymore.

BTW, there are two ways to read the bolded. I'm going to go with the one that implies the word "can" at the end of the sentence.

Like literally at your office???
Yes. It was one of our employees who was apparently shot to death by her husband (could be ex--unclear at this moment) as she came into work this morning just before 7, and then he killed himself. The scene is literally outside the window of one of my friends and fellow lawyers. I've stayed away but he and others said it was very gruesome. A lot of people have gone home, there are grief counselors everywhere, and the TV crews are still here as it's yet to be completely cleaned up. They haven't released the names yet but, based on what information I have, I don't think I knew the woman who worked here. Sending out throprawishes to the families.
Jesus Christ.
wow :(that's horrible
Yes it is. Jesus. :(

Not to continue to be a downer, but I'm a little shaken up. Just glad I don't come to the office very early. What I hear now from someone who witnessed it is that the guy showed up and was waving the gun around in the parking lot while yelling at the woman. Many people had to run to take cover and several called 911. One of my friends was on the phone with 911 when the man shot the woman and, after she was apparently dead, he laid on top of her and shot himself. Lots of people witnessed it and also were in the potential line of fire. Just glad it wasn't worse, but an awful lot of traumatized people here.

We are located in East Memphis, which is a tree-lined, very suburban-feeling and normally quiet part of Memphis.

ETA: She's finally been identified and I didn't know her.

Ugh. Well we're all glad you don't go into work early as well.

two of my coworkers came to work late one day when we were neck deep in a project and needed their help before a big deadline. They told us that they'd seen a shoe fall a couple feet in front of them while they were walking in to work, and a couple seconds later, a guy. He'd jumped from a tall building and they saw the whole thing. They then informed us that they were going out for the rest of the day and getting ####faced. Nobody said a word.

Just saying, maybe its time to clock out.

I have a meeting today from 5-6 p.m. After that, I'll likely take your advice.

Sorry, K4. Glad you're ok.

Some of the Tacoma Rainiers (M's AAA club) make regular visits to the children's ward of the local hospital...my friend just texted me a photo of three of the players making a surprise visit to his daughter.
Careful, you're going to upset Marvin with this baseball talk

I drive along the Mississippi River on the way to work every day, mostly north-southish. There are a couple of high bridges that go east-west over the river. One day I was headed to work southbound and northbound traffic was backed up for miles. I saw some dude just laying there on the northbound side blocking traffic. Apparently he jumped off the high bridge and landed on the road.

The body looked suprisingly normal for falling a couple of hundred feet onto a road I thought. I was going by at about 40mph though, not like I got a great look at it.

The moral of the story is I wish I would have known about the free bar trip for the day for these events.

recycling year-old stories again?
You've been out for over a year? Where was I?(sorry if I'm not at the forefront of hockey news, Mr. Cherry)

Those green dudes still around? Greatest shtick in the history of sports spectators.
