GM's thread about nothing (24 Viewers)

Going in for the big snip tomorrow. The boys are freshly shorn. I wasn't expecting them to stick to my leg every time I sat down.
I have no idea who you are still.
I told you on Sunday, I'm pretty sure he owns a sweet bus.
How do you remember anything from Sunday?
I don't remember anything unless I'm reminded of it first. Like this.
You can post your vid, by the way.
HOLY WILLIAM HENRY HARRISON!
That bathroom floor wasn't level.

Ooof, I don't know that I'm ready for a newborn. I've got it on easy street right now. My boys basically take care of themselves. My life...it's about to get turned upside on its head. Neat.Wife's grandfather died suddenly today. Well, as suddenly as one can go at the age of 92. One helluva a guy. WWII hero, owned his own cement business, raised 6 kids. Lucky to have met him. Every Xmas, he wrote a check for $25 to every single grandkid, their spouses and all his great grandkids. With 6 kids - all Italian Catholic - you can only imagine the amount of multiplying going forth. Lotta check writing for a 92 year old man. Planted a rose bush in his back yard for each of his granddaughters and would sing to them to help them grown/bloom. He had champion caliber roses in his back yard. To this day, he is the only human being I know who LOVED to receive my mother's home made fig preserves. Now that he's gone, I can only hope she gives them to me.
Thoprawishes to Mrs. GM.
:goodposting: I hope someday I'll remembered for being half as a good a man as he was.
Doubtful.
Obituary for Notorious T.R.E.He was bald and enjoyed producing "shot videos". The end.

A GB of mine got snipped last fall and had a lovely nurse do the shaving for him. She was very gentle, almost like it was a work of art for her, I hear. Good luck, you should be fine. He got snipped in the afternoon and then drank copious amounts of beer while sitting on a bag of frozen peas for our draft that night.

Either give me a youtube link or try and submit a video by signing up to tumblr. Stryker has tried the submission route twice and failed, but he might just be a dum-dum.
Hey, I resemble that remark <_<

Is 37 too old to take up smoking pot?
Hell no. My mother admitted to us that she tried it recently and likes it. A lot. She wants my sister to get her some 'joints'. Also, my dad took my mom to the ER this morning, kicking and screaming. She said she was fine and would ride out her cold with Nyquil and rest. She has a horrible bout of Pnemonia (not even going to attempt looking this one up but I know it starts with "ph" and that's it) and will be hospitalized for the next two days.

sorry to hear gb. Sounds like you are a better man for having known him. and feel free to have you mother send me that unclaimed jar of fig preserves. They're my favorite thing to spread over my Sunday morning biscuits (unlees she makes the kind with strawberry jello- she can keep those).
Done deal. She has a fig tree in her yard and is always sad when most of them rot off. She has a few neighbors that will pick them and she sends my boys up in the tree to pick them for her preserves, but there just isn't a huge demand for them. I'll be pleased to let her know there is another fig fan out there who would gladly take her preserves.

Appreciate all the kind words, good friends.

Wife is pretty beat up about it. She called her grandfather every weekend and the man was sharp as a tack up until this past weekend where she noted he seemed a little out of sorts. He's been in and out of the hospital recently and though they thought he was on the mend, yesterday he told the nurse he needed to use the bathroom. She gave him some privacy, she came back and he was gone. Probably best that Tre not only supervised Frosty's bathroom break on Sunday, but filmed it just in case. Going forward, I think implementing the buddy system for bathroom breaks is the only prudent thing to do for GMTAN. I call YSR and Krista. Shuke, you get Drifter. Anyhow, if you're going to exit this world (and chances are you will) leaving suddenly with all your mental faculties intact is certainly recommended. I didn't have a meaningful conversation with my grandfather for probably 2-3 years before he passed last year.

Of the 18 grandkids this guy had, Christina was the first to leave the state of Michigan for any significant length of time. One of her older cousins went to college in Chicago, but moved back to Michigan. Other than that, this is a family that stayed intact together in the Detroit area. They got together every week at least for family dinners and are about as tight as you can get. Christina's grandfather always admired her for blazing her own trail thousands of miles away. He loved to hear her talk about Oregon and its dramatic geographical dynamics. He would perk up when she'd talk about our camping trips, hikes and rafting adventures.

Last thing...he accurately predicted the sex of every great grandchild, including ours, who should touchdown in late July. It was pretty remarkable to witness as there were several little babies born in the last 4-5 years. I was convinced we were having a boy and thought for sure he would be wrong this time. Damned if he didn't come through correctly again. So yeah, wife is really beat up over it as she was so excited to introduce them. C'est la vie and fortunately, his spirit lives on and what a spirit it was.

Also, I know who Gadzooks looks like. Amirite?

Unfortunately, I see fewer and fewer of these types of people in our world. It's an unfortunate trend.T&P to Mrs. GM. :(

Had no idea fig preserves were so popular. My mother loves to make jams and preserves...one of her many hobbies. She'll get a kick out if if I tell her I have a bunch of iFriends around the country who would be interested in her homemade goodies. I think I sent Bostonfred a jar of marionberry jam once.

Good news alert:

The U-10 Pink Panthers girls soccer team destroyed the Tornadoes last night 7-1 to advance to the semi-finals in the playoffs. I chalk this up to coaching.

Wait, you're having another baby? You are crazy!P.S. I having another one in 3 weeks.PS2. what is this thread all about? Seems popular?
Oh, I'm crazy alright, but that was probably established long before I ever had a child. I was just amazed that my seamans still worked at this age and after this long partying like Diet Homer Simpson Light. This is number 2 for you? You know the sex? Congrats, GB!I'll admit, I'm a little unsure how this new baby will alter my life. I've gotten quite comfortable and set in my routines and love being a dad to my boys at their respective ages (and have ever since the divorce). Even before that, they were starting to be a lot of fun. But the newborn stage and the toddler stage are less than ideal and having them 19 months apart was incredibly difficult. I won't be doing that again, knock on wood. That said, I know exactly what I'm getting into now and unlike the first go-round, we won't have the luxury of sitting at home taking care of a baby. This little girl is going to be on the go. There will be no nursery room, no stenciling goofy animals on the walls, no uncertainty on what to do or where to go. This little gal is going to be tethered to me in a Baby Bjorn (yeah, that's right) while I coach, hike, golf, bowl, bet on horses and do yard work. And when I'm too exhausted to take care of her correctly, I can cajole her other brothers with candy and money to do my job for me. And thankfully, they are pretty excited about the little one making her grand entrance. They've already fought each other over which one will be her favorite brother.Plus, this time I have a wife who doesn't make me want to yank my hair out and go nuclear...yet. There was so much resentment and hostility pent up between me and the ex that it totally affected the experience of raising two young kids. I am too chatty today. Need to get back to work.

Yeah, you had already confirmed the crazy by getting married again. You had a chance, man... you were living the dream!

we are having a boy... he is going to hate us in a few years when he realizes how much pink "stuff" we forced him to use/wear.

P.S. 5 year olds can change diapers, right?

I had a dream about GM last night. It was all really bizarre and some of the details are lost on me, but we were on some kind of ship. GM had his boys with him. I saw him from afar and knew exactly who he was and I was excited to introduce myself to him. He knew (I am guessing because of this thread) that I was going to be on the ship, but he seemed to be some sort of de facto group leader for his kids and their friends (field trip maybe?) so he wasn't exactly trying to track me down.

So I eventually make my way over to meet him and right as I get near him, there is a scuffle on deck between us. GM came charging into the fray because he sensed that his kids were in danger, and without meaning to, he shoved me backwards with this horribly wild look in his eyes. I reel backwards, completely shocked and frankly a little shaken. Everyone eventually calms down and we are all ushered toward a stairwell to go about our business. I'm next to GM on the stairs and I look at him with tears in my eyes and he realizes it's me and what he's done. He's super apologetic and that's that.

But the reason I mention the dream is that I have always thought GM was a great dad - from the stories he's told about camping and the time he spends with the boys, to how accepting he is of his gay son. So to read that he is nervous about being a father again, and to a little girl this time... well, it's just not right. When I woke from the dream and reviewed it in my head, it was not at all surprising that he was willing to do anything to protect his boys.

There was also another part of the dream where shuke switched out GM's loaf of bread for his. I guess we were all given rations of some kind? Anyway, GM had been issued sausage bread and shuke had been given regular bread. I watched him switch the loaves, then stuff the entire loaf of sausage bread in his mouth to hide the evidence.

I would think so. I used to let mine drive when I had too many pops.Remember that guy in Shawshank Redemption who got out of prison, tried to return to society and fit in, couldn't and hanged himself? Freedom sounds so good until you get out there and realize not everybody can be Disco Stu or Gadzooks. When faced with absolute freedom, I don't do very well. Drugs I have no business doing get purchased, woman I have no business dating get dated and my diet consists of all the sort of foods my doctor has told me to stop eating for life. Were I not in the prison of marriage, I would probably be out of a job, homeless and eventually dead. I need a governor pedal, my friend. Only I need a sweet, nice one that will let me hit 75-80MPH and not a vindictive, harsh one that shuts my car off when I hit 55 MPH.

Wife's grandfather died suddenly today.

Similar to Phil Mickelson?

So, Kellen has his RPAC performance tonight (I'm not sure what that stands for, but he's been staying after school once a week for about 4 months working on this play/musical/performance that debuts tonight) and he has to play some sort of prisoner or something. He was to comb through his clothes to find some sort of pants that would make him look like a prisoner. We told him some ripped jeans might work, but he was defiant and said he knew exactly what he'd wear. He came downstairs in a pair of too-tight fitting jorts. He could not look any gayer if we strapped Richard Simmons shorts on him and put him atop a float in a San Francisco parade with a bikers cap. Can't wait to sit through this thing tonight.Meanwhile, straight son continues to grow his hair out for Locks of Love. He swears he's committed to it and so far, I believe him. Couple ofshotsphotos from Sunday's game....Looks a little like Luke Skywalker in the original Star Wars here. Youngest kid on the team by 2 years. :prouddad:

we are having a boy... he is going to hate us in a few years when he realizes how much pink "stuff" we forced him to use/wear.

P.S. 5 year olds can change diapers, right?
