GM's thread about nothing (21 Viewers)

So it's looking like about 90% sure that I'm going to be moving to East Hampton for the summer. Gonna be meeting about 7 bar owners/managers in the next 3 days. Living for free in a kickass house and making :boatloads: tending bar. :pickle:
I've got a really good old friend there. Might need to make a road trip.

Can't sleep so hopefully this vodka will help. I played softball tonight and our 2B had a liner hit to him that he dove for. The ball was hit so hard it hit off his wrist straight to his forehead. It hit his head so hard that it ricocheted all the way over to the SS who caught it on a fly. His wrist is broken and almost 3 hours later, they're waiting for the vomiting to stop before they run a CT scan. Scary moment that makes me appreciate never playing infield. He never lost consciousness and has been in good spirits so it shouldn't be anything debilitating. But damn. It's the 5th major injury I've seen in 3 years on the infield due to people not having enough time to react. They're not going to change the bats anytime soon, so it's time to start thinking about converting to outseam, old guy leagues, or just hanging 'em up next year.
In college intramurals, I was running from first to second on a grounder hit to short...the shortstop flipped it to the 2nd baseman who quickly went to turn the double play without looking and threw it full force into my forehead (no helmets and we weren't allowed to slide)....they tell me that the ball flew in the air into left field and that I just stumbled around and landed somewhere b/w 2nd and 3rd. Went to the hospital and it was just a mild concussion, but I was nervous for a while
Great way to break up a double play.Did the runner behind you at least get to second base?

might have made it to third base if TF would have been knocked out.

Yeesh. I almost always run way to the right in a situation like that. Often the guy throwing the ball has no idea where he's throwing.Update on my GB - Broken septum and orbit in his face...and his wrist took the brunt of it. :scared:Edit - and our SS caught the ball on the fly and tagged 2nd for the double play to get out of the inning.

Leaving in a bit to go to my wife's cousin's graduation. Yes that is a beating. However..

She is graduating from college. She was on the dance team. She was in a sorority. We are invited to some celebration after graduation with individuals from these groups. :excited:

You including shot videos with your resume?

Bob Marley died on this day in 1981. In tribute I'm playing his #### while my kids do group work. I don't give one tiny rat's ### if they like it or not.

I pitch. I get worried when the big guy who doesn't know how to aim his shots comes up. I have quick reflexes but I'm in my 40s and they aren't as quick as they used to be.

I think you mean "Lady in Red."

I applied for a job about a month back. I provided both my phone number and email address for contact info.

I haven't heard anything yet. This isn't that unusual for this type of job, but I am starting to wonder if I'll be offered an interview.

There's also a slight complication: I don't own a cellphone (hate them) and the answering machine for my home phone is stuck in Spanish mode. I've tried everything but can't get it back to English. I'm slightly worried that their human resources monkey called, got confused by the Spanish, and hung up without leaving a message.

However, I'm Facebook Friends with one of the people doing the hiring (not from HR - the actual department I'd work in).

Is it bad form to send a FB message asking about when they're scheduling interviews?

I'm leaning toward not saying anything...

No cell phone? Answering machine?Maybe you can give them your pager number or tel them to email you at your AOL address.

I think a telegram would work well.

Pony Express must have run into ***** trouble

I don't understand why people have cellphones. The only reason I can see needing one is if you break down on the highway or get held up by ruffians.

Yah, I guess being able to answer a potential job offer from where ever you are is pretty inconvenient.

Why can't you wait until you get home?
Because all of the other applicants with cell phones have beat you to the punch.
So they'll get their interview first? Don't I want to bat cleanup?

who needs phones or even speech for that matter? I can communicate just fine with body language and hand gestures.

Hello. Not usually up at this time, but crazy ### dream woke me up. For all the dream analysis folks:

Bartolo Colon is pitching to me in my driveway and I'm down 1-2 in the count. I strike out on a nice change up. He then tells me MLB needs to stop having games in venues like this. It is the end of the 6th inning and I go to make chocolate milk (yeah...no idea here). I mix the powder into about a quart of milk and most of the milk evaporates and leaves little chocolate blobs like mud puddles. I ask Colon if it's okay that I go to get more milk real quick before the top of the 7th. He says sure because he is going to go get drug tested real quick. He then tells me most pitchers he has met are total jackholes. Fin.

Seriously...WTF?
Your body was telling you to wake up because you had to poop.
This.And you need a colonoscopy.
I did go drop a deuce about 15 minutes later.
WA. LA.

YES!

Like I said before my "Today in History" is the day Bob Marley died.

So I talk about Marley for a minute or two, including how he died of cancer. Then a girl raises her hand.

Girl 1: I thought he got shot or something.

Me: Well yeah but that was years before he died. Although he did shoot the sheriff. But he didn't....(pause to see who can finish the line)

Girl 2: But he didn't kill the officer!

Me: :lmao:

To the GMTANers who were in on sending me the care package, thank you very very much. I'm pretty sure SLB was the ringleader. You guys are too kind.

Reading the note made me cry like a baby.

Thank you, that was extremely thoughtful.

:) :)

Side note to my last post.....

The package was dropped off in the early evening. I didn't think anything of it because we get Inkjet and Toner Cartridges delivered a few days a week.

So I went to bed not opening it. A little while later my wife came in the bedroom and asked what a GMTAN was. Then she said, with tears in her eyes that I had to read it, I was so surprised and touched that I started bawling.

So thoughtful....

Thank you, you guys are what make this place so good.
