GM's thread about nothing (36 Viewers)

Hypothetical question: To avoid being considered completely insane, what is the minimum amount of time that you need date a woman before you can propose to her?
For me it was 7 years but I wish I would have given it 10.
So 2 weeks=too soon?
My uncle proposed to my aunt on their second date. They've been married 35 years or so.
this is kind of the thing I'm thinking about. you hear about couples like this. It's been 13 days. I've seen her 10 times. If I asked her, she'd say yes.
Don't get me wrong - I'm an enormous proponent of the second marriage. It's great. But you might want to cool your jets just a little bit. Waiting a couple months isn't exactly dragging your feet.
Especially given that it was, what, two months ago that the paralegal was the love of your life who was worth throwing away career and everything else for? Your judgment might be just a little bit, what should we say, clouded?
hmmm...good point. time flies...that was 4 months ago.
for a self proclaimed misogynist, you sure do fall in love with a lot of women

This makes 2. I was never in love with knuckles. prior to the paralegal, there was 3 years of nobody in particular, and before that there was just my wife of 11 years, and we weren't in love for the last 6 of that.

If she'll agree now, pop the question.Another 20 dates may lead to a different answer.

Would you rather drive 100 miles each way 2 days in a row for an all day function both days or stay overnight and just drive there and back? The distances is right in that gray area. Any shorter and it's a no brainer to drive, any longer and it's a no brainer to stay.
Stay. Get drunk and find a piano bar.
:goodposting: Also, dress up like a cowboy.
Yes. This. And that conference was only 80 miles away.AngryWife called me at 6:15 this morning because "the boys really wanted to say good morning to you" and not at all because she knew I'd be drunkover.Felt like hell today but I survived. Overall it was a great time and I managed not to do/say anything that will get me called into HR.

I think I like this term drunkover. I hadn't heard it until this week, but I'm going to start using it.

I fully plan on waking up on Father's Day

My craptacular company BlackBerry won't record one.

City BBQ worth a visit, shuke? Headed back to Columbus in a few weeks and need some new places to grab grub.
Best BBQ I've had north of the Mason-Dixon line.
You gotta check out Eli's at Findley Market
Have you been to the actual Eli's down on Riverside? Damn good, but I thought the sandwich was way too small.
I'm sure it's already been asked and answered but for a non-local is the Skyline Chili in a can worth getting?

Not a fan of the canned. Way too soupy. You pretty much have to slow boil it for an hour to burn off some of the water.

I mostly just lurk here, and I might be confusing your misadventures with Gadzooks, but here's my :2cents: I. For most people 6 months.7. For GM Tanners, just long enough to make sure she isn't in the witness relocation program.€. And also make sure the statute of limitations for prosecuting any home invasion/cleanings is past.
I like this guy.

So Mrs. SLB left around noon today for a baby shower out of town and won't be back until Sunday. Tomorrow I have a golf tournament, that I've paid a foursome, with my GB/client. Oh except the Boyscouts decided it would be a great weekend for a camp out. Apparently they don't realize Sunday is Father's Day and people may have plans and/or other children. Good thing it is going to be 90+ degrees too.
I know I sound like a giant **** here but camping just isn't my thing anymore. I used to LOVE camping. Like in my 20's. Heck, I even have a camping kit I put together, pretty nice one too, for those spur of the moment trips. However the last time I went "camping" which was about 7 years ago I guess, everybody put their tents up and I got a motel room down the road for me & Mrs. SLB. Oh and me and Dyl aka Mr. Chef, went to water the garden and flowers at 7:15 this morning and he says "WOW! IT'S REALLY HOT!" and it was. I just put 4 Macanudo's & some vodka in the car, you know, just in case... :bye:

For the record, I never thought of doing anything this crazy with the 22 YO. But hey, go with your instincts and if it's meant to be it's meant to be. Just make sure and save at least 2 tables at the reception for GMTAN members and their wives. Unrelated to this, 22 YO (now 23 YO) wants to come over this afternoon to "visit and catch up".
