Best places to buy ties are stores like Marshall's, TJ Maxx, Burlington, etc. Ties are ridiculously overpriced. You can get higher-end labels at those stores for a fraction of the regular price.

I cross the border into New Mexico to buy my ties. And my cactus.

Moving sucks, but at least its an excuse to clean out the drawers. Found some rubbers that expired in 2008. Found some fake marijuana (Black Spice?) in a pair of old gloves. Forgot I had a long, Burberry (sp) coat that I inherited. Not sure what the hell to do with that. Got rid of about 20 ties. Don't worry Shuke, I won't offer any of them to you, Big Slacks. Done being nice to you. Found two Niel Diamond records. Odd since I haven't owned a record player since I was 7.

I sure have a lot of books I've never even come close to reading. Hope those do well at garage sales.

I'm just a huge fan. I'd love to have them, but I don't have a record player so they'd be lost on me other than the nights when I slept with them under my pillow. Depending on their condition, you might could get a few bucks for each of them at a vintage record store. But if you're just going to lump them in with garage sale stuff, I'll definitely take them.

Calling all GMTAN Thoprawishers -My niece was diagnosed with a grade 3 brain tumor. Mid 30's, 2 daughters, now looking at brain surgery and 5 weeks of radiation. From what I'm reading, prognosis is not all that great for this type of tumor.Retroactive good vibes to all those in here that I was too lazy/self-absorbed to post at the time. Oh, and #### cancer!

We were stuck in traffic for a while so I got to know her quite well since she's quite the chatterbox. She's keeping a journal of where she goes, who she meets, etc. Seems like a fun girl so I offered her to come back to our place for dinner. She says her name is Leanne but I call her "The Stray." Miss was all "WTF?!" at first but she's cool with it now that she knows the whole story. She's currently in my shower and will be doing her laundry here. We're outside having drinks and then we'll all be having dinner once she's cleaned up.

I had to man the phone banks again tonight to pimp our upcoming bond issue. Only like 6 or 7 of us showed up. About 1/4 of the way through my call list I said something like "9 out of 10 times I call a number there is no answer." One of the volunteer coordinators says "That's probably because we're on our second trip on the list. We're calling the people that didn't answer last week.". That's when I made my first trip to the fridge (our call center is in the guest house of a woman that works in the district). Since this whole thing can't be seen as school business we can pretty much do what we want. Apparently some of the parents who are helping with this decided that putting beer in the fridge would be a good idea...and they were right. I made 56 phone calls. 41 were no answer or wrong numbers. 2 were "NO". 5 were "undecided". And 8 were "yes". I also made a good part of a 12 pack of Corona Light my #####.

Holy crap. We needed 55% to get it approved. On election day we were barely at 54%. Last I heard we lost by 11 votes. They just finished counting the provisional ballots.We passed by 6 freaking votes. Looks like someone is getting a new office chair.

Well yeah, I kind of figured it was coming. I tipped my wife off with what I was pretty sure was going to happen and we decided to just play it out so we could get the actual invite, because nobody really likes a "I think we were hanging out with swingers but we don't really know because we ditched them before they could confirm it" story.
