GM's thread about nothing (30 Viewers)

Presentation went fine - no Xanax. The keys were two part - first, shortly before I went up our MIT MBA intern asked me what I was presenting on so I got to do a quicky dry run and talk though some of the points in a conversational way. The second was that this year they gave us portable mikes so I didn't have to be glued to the podium. This helped immensely as I could use up my nervous energy walking around the stage. Got feedback later that I looked very natural and must be accustomed to talked in front of groups :thumbup:Bob - I would like to see some pictures with some of your nearly killed yourself presents.
Do you fart a lot when you're nervous?
No, but sometimes it makes me want to take a crap

Since I'm breaking my lurker habits in GMTAN today..Stu/Bogart > This Saturday is the annual blondes vs brunettes flag football tournament. Roughly 100+ 20 something year old girls playing a flag football game for charity at the Cotton Bowl. The game itself is awful, but the after party and particularly the after-after party are pretty fantastic. :thumbup:I have a full day of drinking planned but hopefully can remain coherent enough to do a shot video or several.
I may be up for this.
Let me know. I have a magic football draft at a bar up in Denton around noon. Will be drunkenly taking the DART down to Fair Park around 5. The primary after party will be somewhere around that area I think. Last year there was tons of free beer, hopefully that will be the same. I've heard a rumor that awful Randy Rogers band all the girls get their panties wet for will be performing, not sure if that's true. The after-after party last year was at someone's fancy house on the M Streets. It was about 80% hot drunken blonde girls. :wub:And this would potentially be our 5th drunken cornhole. Not that I take creepy meticulous notes or anything. :stalker:

Oh yeah. :doh:This sounds like a good time. :banned:Unrelated: My gf is out of town this weekend.

Did I mention that the rubes at the Ozarks hospital put the neck brace on backwards? I was wondering why thing sucked even worse than I imagined it would. I was also wondering WTF desgined the thing to have ties that would rub up against my skin and cut the hell out of me shoulders. The doc took one look at me when he walked in the room :lmao: and asked what hospital I went to.

:lmao:
"Jerry Reed Memorial, why?"
lol Bunch of dickmittens.

I've been really trying to eat well over the last six months or so, partially to lose the spare tire but mostly just to be healthy. I've been a bit disappointed that the spare tire hasn't really gone down at all, but I got some good feedback today. Got the results of my bloodwork back from the naturopath, and my cholestrol is at 170, HDL's at 50, which he tells me is pretty decent. I was over 200 a couple years ago. I celebrated with a bowl of quinoa for lunch after crossfit, but got all that healthy stuff out of the way and I'm enjoying a mixed drink while I waste time on the internet.

Is there anything appealing or even bearable about visiting Pensacola, Florida? Invited to a wedding there Sept. 2 and haven't been able to decide whether to go.

I'm going to see Pearl Jam there on Sept. 23. let me know if there's anything good there.

From Lonely Planet: Known as the Emerald Coast, the area from Pensacola to Panama City Beach has also earned the nickname ‘Redneck Riviera’ for its proximity to the southern states whose residents flock here.Pass.

LA? Meh.
Huh?
Lower Alabama.
Ah. Yeah, looks too Southerny.
KrisaI am there right now. Yes - its pretty "southerny." Apparently it isn't called the Redneck Riveria for no reason. It could be because we are right beside the "Flora-Bama" Bar that takes quite a bit of pride in its biker reputation. We have a couple of kids and are on our 2nd trip down here, bu this time its a #### fest. Lots of redneck music and lots of cussing around kids. I have wanted to suckerpunch about 20 POSs. I will say our first trip was much better so it may have to do with our location. It is comparable to Myrtle Beach with the cheap. crappy "seafood" places and cheap places to stay. We will be back, just staying at a higher class place. Outside of that - yes, its a redneck mother####er.

Kev, we're going to Vegas. I'll look more like a freak than usual and I guess I'll have to drink out of one of those giant glasses with a straw like Tanner but I'll make it work. Of course there could be a Vegas miracle. I have a follow up appointment with the doc the day before we leave. They picked the date. :fingerscrossed:
:excited: :excited: :excited: Heal, you SOB. Heal like the wind!!!1!!

We're gonna party like Randy Travis.

Wow, real-time feedback on the place! That's awesome! Not so awesome to hear it's not so great. I guess we'll skip the wedding and go somewhere else for a couple of days. To be clear, "Southerny" might be OK if I didn't live in Memphis and deal with it all the time. If we were still in Chicago it might be a fun novelty. Sorry your trip isn't going as well as expected. :(

why not just go to Seattle? Weather is great during August, and you and Mrs. Krista can do some high-level cornholing.

Mr. krista suggested Portland, but we can't leave until Saturday afternoon and have to come back by Tuesday morning, so the 6+ hours it will take us to get there (no nonstop from Memphis) just doesn't make it worth it. :(

We caught 4 really nice steelheads, but only got to keep 2 of them. We'll grill them up tonight.
I really want to do this. I'm ashamed to admit I'm almost 40 and I don't know how to clean a fish.
Our guide cleaned them for us. :bag: I watched him....I think I could do it if pressed. Maybe. If I could learn how to hold the fish like it wasn't radioactive.Grilled up all the fish tonight. FIL used one recipe and I used another. Fanfreakingtastic. So fresh, so good. Tasted more like salmon than trout, but just incredible tasting. We have more left over for some caeser (sp?) salads tomorrow.
Steelhead is definitely very salmon like. It's my favorite fish since moving here. Very tasty. Cedar or alder planked with olive oil, lemon and dill...
I have a friend (guy I do shots with at the bar) on Madeline Island on Lake Superior that makes grilling planks. It sounds like when I head up there this weekend he's going to hook me up with some wood chunks that are leftover from his plank making process for me to use with my big green egg. I am so pumped for this as right now I'm buying wood at hardware stores. It just doesn't seem right. Hoping to come home with half a truckload of smoking wood. :pickle:
Uh, don't they have trees there? Not sure what is native up there, but people use alder or maple here.

The Redneck Riviera is fun. I'm pretty sure the Kristas would both hate it.

I don't know... maybe I'm not allowed to say that. Sincerely not meant to be a dig though. Just doesn't seem like their thing.
