GM's thread about nothing (38 Viewers)

The Redneck Riviera is fun. I'm pretty sure the Kristas would both hate it.I don't know... maybe I'm not allowed to say that. Sincerely not meant to be a dig though. Just doesn't seem like their thing.
No worries. Might be fun if you're in the mood for it. We just need to get away from rednecks a little too much for that.

Is there anything appealing or even bearable about visiting Pensacola, Florida? Invited to a wedding there Sept. 2 and haven't been able to decide whether to go.
Beaches are actually pretty good there....if there's no hurricane. Oh and the TF family might be near

I'm going to see Pearl Jam there on Sept. 23. let me know if there's anything good there.
From Lonely Planet: Known as the Emerald Coast, the area from Pensacola to Panama City Beach has also earned the nickname ‘Redneck Riviera’ for its proximity to the southern states whose residents flock here.Pass.
While this is true....the beaches are some of the best in the country. Wonderful juxtaposition of the haves and have nots.

We caught 4 really nice steelheads, but only got to keep 2 of them. We'll grill them up tonight.
I really want to do this. I'm ashamed to admit I'm almost 40 and I don't know how to clean a fish.
Our guide cleaned them for us. :bag: I watched him....I think I could do it if pressed. Maybe. If I could learn how to hold the fish like it wasn't radioactive.Grilled up all the fish tonight. FIL used one recipe and I used another. Fanfreakingtastic. So fresh, so good. Tasted more like salmon than trout, but just incredible tasting. We have more left over for some caeser (sp?) salads tomorrow.
Steelhead is definitely very salmon like. It's my favorite fish since moving here. Very tasty. Cedar or alder planked with olive oil, lemon and dill...
I have a friend (guy I do shots with at the bar) on Madeline Island on Lake Superior that makes grilling planks. It sounds like when I head up there this weekend he's going to hook me up with some wood chunks that are leftover from his plank making process for me to use with my big green egg. I am so pumped for this as right now I'm buying wood at hardware stores. It just doesn't seem right. Hoping to come home with half a truckload of smoking wood. :pickle:
Uh, don't they have trees there? Not sure what is native up there, but people use alder or maple here.
There are trees everywhere, but I require special trees. Thanks for the smarm, though!

My son left the garage fridge door open, and all of the beer is warm. Ground him until he's 18?
My 7 year old daughter came outside while I was watering the grass yesterday and shut the door for the first time ever, locking us out. Fortunately one of the windows wasn't locked, so I removed the screen, pushed the window up, and chucked her through it.She came within about two inches of running out the front door and slamming it shut behind her again as I was putting the screen back in....She'll be hitting the streets in 2025.

Not sure I've achieved smarm before!PS, Jax and I just went and saw Batman. I couldn't help but imagine you were the actor playing Bain. I think it actually added to the movie.

LA? Meh.
Huh?
Lower Alabama.
Ah. Yeah, looks too Southerny.
KrisaI am there right now. Yes - its pretty "southerny." Apparently it isn't called the Redneck Riveria for no reason. It could be because we are right beside the "Flora-Bama" Bar that takes quite a bit of pride in its biker reputation. We have a couple of kids and are on our 2nd trip down here, bu this time its a #### fest. Lots of redneck music and lots of cussing around kids. I have wanted to suckerpunch about 20 POSs. I will say our first trip was much better so it may have to do with our location. It is comparable to Myrtle Beach with the cheap. crappy "seafood" places and cheap places to stay. We will be back, just staying at a higher class place. Outside of that - yes, its a redneck mother####er.
the world's ditch diggers need vacations, too.

It may be the 21st. I know it's that weekend. I just remember that DJ Jazzy Jeff is playing the same day. Foo Fighters are the 22nd.

I lurk in the PJ thread occasionally. Saw them in Vancouver last September. I had plans to go to Stockholm/Copenhagen/Oslo this summer, but a trial got in the way, so Pensacola is it for this year.

At a friend's house someplace around there. I really don't know a whole lot about this whole trip. Someone else put it together--I'm just going.

For the record, I tried to get a beer from the same area as all the contributors, but fell a few short. I cheated on MN and went with Hennepin even though it's not made in MN. Oh, and i included everclear for YSR in Tennessee
I was wondering about the Everclear. :lmao: You did a fine job, you're a gentleman and a scholar. Thanks again.

If that's a coconut, then :lmao: , especially with the diving pin.
Better, it's a WWII Russian infantry helmet. Pretty cool actually.Forgot one too, this was in one of the boxes. :lmao:

Just got back from Lowes where I bought 30 lamps and shades.

I only really needed 24, but this gives me some flexibility

Day2 post-surgery. Yes I've honestly watched five hours of golf coverage and kept my eyes open.

I'm in an adjustable knee brace that right now is set to zero degrees. No weight bearing. Walking with crutches.

One percocet every 4-6 hours during the day. Two right before bed.

They also have me taking 800 mg Advil twice a day also.

Looking forward to some meaningless football tonight.

Does anyone play in a magic football league that includes both ifriends and brick & mortar friends? Is the initial interaction between the two weird? Cosjobs wants to know.

Took 100 mg of Modalert (Provigil, essentially) today and here are my thoughts:

Definitely felt "different". Similar to speed without the physical aspects of speed. No jitters or tapping feet or any of that but your brain definitely feels kind of on edge. This may decrease with more regular use.

I found that in conversation, I was definitely quicker and had better recall. I was also quicker to see solutions to problems - felt more creative in general. Reading was a chore and took a lot of heavy concentration. I felt like my thoughts were flowing a little too quickly to really digest what I was reading. It seems that if you need to sit down and really dive deeply into something, it might not be the right thing, but if you are faced with a dynamic interaction with someone or something that requires a high level of creative problem solving it definitely enhances your natural skills in those areas. It's not something I'd want to take every day but would take it occasionally depending on what kind of work I was going to be doing that day.

It sounds like it makes you ADD

My cases generally end up getting paid by a bunch of different insurance companies. This particular one got paid by one carrier...I just got one check for $9.8 million delivered to my office. Biggest check I've ever seen.
Contingency?

It was pretty good for Spring Break my sophomore year of college. So I'm guessing no.

Good luck brother. I've took more pain pills, mostly Percocet, in a week than I possibly could have ever imagined. (I wish Finless was here :( ) Be careful, it will make you (at least is did me) see, think & feel some freaky ####. Good luck, get well soon.ETAI haven't taken anything in over 24 hours. I can deal with the pain. #### it.
