BREAKING NEWS--KEVZILLA IN WALKING BOOT FOR FOUR WEEKS

Source: Austin Real Estatesman

kevzilla has been placed in a walking boot and given corticosteroids for an "ongoing Achilles problem". Sources indicate he will be out through Week 2.

[[[[[[[[[[ OUR VIEW ]]]]]]]]]]

This solidifies cosjobs' spot atop the Aging Austin Hippie board. Don't count kevzilla out, though--this guy will do anything to make the Fremont Street Holepocalypse, and reports being "inspired" by the example of future HOF'er St. Louis Bob's rehab from having a small piece of brain lodged in his skull.

Sorry for the clutter, but we run this thread on a "you'll know what we know" basis.

Peace,

K
Link is broken. What happened? Good luck GB

What's up JIMTAN?

Heyo to all I haven't seen in awhile. Hope all is well with you and yours.

Not much going on in the valley of hippies and liberal treehuggers. I started doing some volunteer work at the local library, which led to them asking me to do some grant writing for their fund raising foundation, which led to me getting involved in planning & prepping a hip hop festival in March/April 2013, to celebrate hip hop's 40th anniversary (how they figured out hip hop's birthday is beyond me and probably open to a whole lot of speculation). I'm not all into hip hop, but in conjunction with the festival they'll be having a graffiti spray-off, which I'm going to help organize. Now THAT I'm psyched for.

Also they got Afrika Bombaataa to come speak. He of hip hop legends and well known by the refrain SHAKE YOUR RUMPA!

Watching a punk band at a hipster bar in Brooklyn while the TV shows New Jack City. This might be the most 90s movie ever. Also, sound totally unnecessary.
At least hipster chicks are usually hot. Just don't let them speak. You remembered the duck tape, right? Tell them there's nothing more authentic than being a sex crime victim and you're both getting laid and obtained consent in one fell swoop. Godspeed. Report back in the morning.

Today is my dads 71st birthday. He's really low key and doesn't like big celebrations or anything like that so there were no plans to go out or anything. But, every Saturday he heads to the local American Legion at 4pm for a few beers so I figured I'd meet him there to at least buy him one for his birthday. After a half hour or so, my sister showed up. She starts grilling me about my plans for the night and finally texts me (I'm sitting 2 chairs from her) that she has a surprise for dad. Lo and behold, my brother walks in the bar. He hasn't been around in forever. He moved to Ohio a few years ago and decided to drive up for my old mans birthday. The smile on my dads face......damn the guy was flat out happy.

Long story short, my dad was ecstatic and showed some emotion I've never seen out of him. He made sure to tell everyone in the bar that his kids were there and introduced each of us, even though we already know everyone in that bar. We then went out to dinner and had an even better time. A few hundred dollars later, I think my dad was cool with a big night out rather than doing nothing.

Hey Shuke > thought of you today. Took my daughter to the 1p Reds game and was on the lookout to see if your son would be the kid that got to run on the field with Miguel Cairo, but I don't think it was him...

I'm getting drunk on alcoholic beverages
My old man had 3 brandy manhattans tonight, plus about 8 beers. 10 years ago that was nothing but tonight it kicked his ###. He can't drink like he used to and tapped out early. I know where I get it from.I've been drinking since 1600 and my wife just went to bed. I think I'll join ya Guster :banned:

I need to save one of your beer pounding vids. I have spoken of your prowess to people i know in real life. I am in awe.

Oh, Guster, how serious are you about the skee ball? I confirmed with my contact that she could get one. Just need to know you're still interested and a price range and she'll see if she can work with it. Shipping might be where you get boned, though.

Let's just say I turned down UBQB in good condition for $200 because it wasn't skee ballI'd pay >$500 for skee ball delivered, but I've seen it locally for about that or moreI want my daughter to be the skee ball world champion, so anything that would help is appreciated

I tried that at a party last weekend. Nearly drowned myself.

Sounds like the perfect career path for her to become a first ate carnival schill.Just for grins, I'd buy her $20 of tokens at Dave & Busters and tell her that they're all for skee ball. She if she can spend the whole twenty before you spend the 500

AngryWife was helping with the 100th birthday party for her great aunt today so I've been carting two unnapped small boys from house to house taking care of the required family visits that happen when we go to the old hometown. I understanf why some animals eat their young.

As soon as she gets home from the party, I'm hitting the town bar to "log in and get a little work done." I may never come back.

I'm impressed that you can spend a few hundred dollars at a legion.

Found in the e-cig thread:

For the people who've been at this for a while, what's your go-to cartomizer and atomizer these days? I like the Boge 3.0's in my tanks, but I find them to be very inconsistent.
Still use Bloog MaxxFusion cartos at work on my 808s and either 2.5 or 3.0 Cisco 306s exclusively on my Kicked REO Grand.
This hobby seems complicated.
:lmao: I'm pretty sure that entire thread is a bunch of guys trying to one up each other with fictional posts.

I'm waiting on a 200-page document that I need to review when it arrives, ETA 2 a.m. I don't anticipate getting to sleep tonight. I also didn't get to go to sleep last night for the same work matter. This is the third time in three weeks I've pulled multiple all-nighters.

But this is not just to kvetch about no sleep and way too much work; this is to mention that at least five times today our CEO thanked me profusely...no, not for my hard work and my important insights, but for recommending a good pizza place last night when he decided we should get some delivery. Seriously, the guy won't shut up about the ####### pizza.

Currently winning the horrible job sweepstakes. I'm going to need summaries of the daily summaries.
what pizza place?
Garibaldi's. It's not even good pizza!

wait, you work? I imagine your life as just waiting around in airports, walking around with marching bands as your personal soundtrack, and taking over small central american countries one piece at a time.please don't kill this dream for me.
Damn, I love this.

What happened with the Amamzons?
As near as I can tell the hiring manager went on vacation and things are stalled.
 Drifter has since updated me more. Maybe I'll come out there for an interview--we'll see. In the meantime my company is giving me a huge retention package. More on that as I Kripple.

So, I'm kind of proud of myself this week. Sorry in advance for this. It's been a particularly horrible three weeks.

First, one of our business units had a huge acquisition (for them) that my tiny group was in charge of, and a few days before closing a major environmental issue arose. After two all-nighters, we closed the deal on August 1, only one day later than the ridiculous and unreasonable schedule our business guys expected.

After closing that in the morning, I thought I'd get a break, but then that afternoon learned that we were going to try to do a debt offering, originally targeted at $300 million (but rose to $1 billion) in one week. Seriously no way to express how impossible that seems to be, also especially given that one day before pricing that deal we were announcing our earnings and filing our quarterly report, for which my group is also responsible.

Somehow my little team got it done (with two more all-nighters last week) and priced a $1 billion dollar debt deal on August 8 at 6-1/8%. Unbelievable and awesome.

Now, I get to stuff that is completely public at this point, so I'm not pulling a Woz (sorry GB), but I have to be careful still. Wednesday August 8 we priced a $1 billion deal to close on August 17. On Monday, August 13, my boss learned that we had re-forecasted internally to an extent that it put our deal at peril because of this. Basically, we could try to close but the right thing to do was tell our underwriters of the change in circumstance. This is Monday afternoon.

By Wednesday we had gathered all facts and decided to pull the deal and relaunch based on new circumstances. To be clear, this was way more likely than not going to kill the entire offering and potentially put the whole company--and about 40,000 employees--at risk. But still it was the right thing to do and we did it. In one day, we pulled a $1 billion offering and replaced it with a $750 million deal, which turned out to be at a much higher interest rate (7%). I worked about 72 hours straight. But we got it done, and the deal was launched. It appears that no one--not our lawyers, not our underwriters (JPMorgan and others) have ever experienced something like this. Here's a not fun article about it discussing rarity, but the difference in ours was that no outside intervening force occurred, AND we managed to relaunch successfully.

All in all, the worst week I've ever had at a job. We're now scheduled to close Tues/Wed, so I'd appreciate thoprawishes to hope it happens. Pretty proud, in any case, that the company did what was right and also that my tiny, tiny team accomplished this (along with my boss).

ETA: Also, I'm really good at ordering pizza!!!!!!11111oneoneone

I went to the Dollar Tree today and bought a squeaky dog-toy to use as "pay attention" signal for my students.
