GM's thread about nothing (39 Viewers)

I'm going into semi-retirement from the boards for a month for a massive arbitration that starts tomorrow. I just wanted to let you know that to to the best of my knowledge my absence is not due to me being killed or kidnapped by a stalker. If I don't come back in 5 weeks, trigger the FBG Buddy alarm.
trouble, gb. we had Big Papi logged as your buddy. he died some time ago. you're a free agent as far as i know.contact Pickles for a renewal application.
Did what now?

Our local minor league baseball team has an outfielder named Kyle Gaedele. At a game earlier this year I was joking that his great-uncle or grandfather was Eddie Gaedel, the midget that Bill Veeck sent to the plate back in the 50s. I knew the spellings were different but it amused me to BS about it.

Then I saw thisin the Sunday paper.

Guy's a good bit taller than his great-uncle was

I haven't been in this thread for a week, and I've been avoiding it because there's no way I have time to catch up. So, I'm just going to pretend that week didn't happen, unless there's something I missed that I just need to know about.

That's pretty cool.

Most of you know my mom is very ill and still grieving over the loss of my stepdad. Taking care of her has been an exercise in frustration control and patience. The highlight of her life right now is when my kids come over for the weekend. This weekend went well, but the strangest thing happened Sunday. My 3 year old daughter came up to my mom and says, "Grandma, you are going to heaven because you are floating." The room got strange, and I inserted a quick joke to move things along, but it has kind of creeped me out all day today. Felt like our own Sixth Sense moment.
Whoah....Good luck MotherBogart

This weekend, my 3 year old asked if granny had a butt hole
Does she?
I told him yes - a dusty one.

So, I'm kind of proud of myself this week. Sorry in advance for this. It's been a particularly horrible three weeks.

First, one of our business units had a huge acquisition (for them) that my tiny group was in charge of, and a few days before closing a major environmental issue arose. After two all-nighters, we closed the deal on August 1, only one day later than the ridiculous and unreasonable schedule our business guys expected.

After closing that in the morning, I thought I'd get a break, but then that afternoon learned that we were going to try to do a debt offering, originally targeted at $300 million (but rose to $1 billion) in one week. Seriously no way to express how impossible that seems to be, also especially given that one day before pricing that deal we were announcing our earnings and filing our quarterly report, for which my group is also responsible.

Somehow my little team got it done (with two more all-nighters last week) and priced a $1 billion dollar debt deal on August 8 at 6-1/8%. Unbelievable and awesome.

Now, I get to stuff that is completely public at this point, so I'm not pulling a Woz (sorry GB), but I have to be careful still. Wednesday August 8 we priced a $1 billion deal to close on August 17. On Monday, August 13, my boss learned that we had re-forecasted internally to an extent that it put our deal at peril because of this. Basically, we could try to close but the right thing to do was tell our underwriters of the change in circumstance. This is Monday afternoon.

By Wednesday we had gathered all facts and decided to pull the deal and relaunch based on new circumstances. To be clear, this was way more likely than not going to kill the entire offering and potentially put the whole company--and about 40,000 employees--at risk. But still it was the right thing to do and we did it. In one day, we pulled a $1 billion offering and replaced it with a $750 million deal, which turned out to be at a much higher interest rate (7%). I worked about 72 hours straight. But we got it done, and the deal was launched. It appears that no one--not our lawyers, not our underwriters (JPMorgan and others) have ever experienced something like this. Here's a not fun article about it discussing rarity, but the difference in ours was that no outside intervening force occurred, AND we managed to relaunch successfully.

All in all, the worst week I've ever had at a job. We're now scheduled to close Tues/Wed, so I'd appreciate thoprawishes to hope it happens. Pretty proud, in any case, that the company did what was right and also that my tiny, tiny team accomplished this (along with my boss).

ETA: Also, I'm really good at ordering pizza!!!!!!11111oneoneone
This is like a foreign language to me.Congrats?
:lmao: By the time I roll around to reading this board nowadays, my brain is pretty fried and I've had a few drinks. I couldn't even get through the second paragraph.

Sorry to hear, Krista?

Just got an unsolicited UPS package from my mortgage company (Citi) setting me up with a lower fixed interest rate.Should I be wary and suspicious of the big conglomerate bank wanting less money from me?
What's your current rate? They have to figure anyone with half a brain is shopping for refi rates right now.

None of these is too "2011" to play.

Thanks, all. I did get a shout-out (along with a lawyer who works for me) from the CEO in our emergency investors' meeting last Thursday evening--we were the only people mentioned by name. So that's something, or really nothing.
Was the shout-out, "hey k4 that was some awesome pizza you ordered the other night"?

Good to drink: four ice cubes, juice a lemon, throw in a couple shots of vodka and 10ish blueberries. Next round I'm muddling everything with some mint the wife grows in the backyard.

Why do I even bother to go into other threads? The Breaking Bad thread is like listening to a bunch of 4th graders guess the answers to Two Minute Mysteries stories.

Why is nobody paying attention to me?
I like you, even though you don't like me just because of the state I live in

About a week ago, I had a sinus infection and while I was at the doctor's I decided to take him through all that ails me.

As a result, I came out of the appointment with a script for the sinus infection, a diagnosis of a deviated septum and some Flonase to see if that would help me breath through my nose better, a referral to a podiatrist for my rather flat feet and meds to try to help with ADHD.

I went to the podiatrist yesterday and have been walking around the past day in mocked up orthotics. My legs hurt a little just because it's making me walk df fervently and probably use little parts of muscles I'm not used to.

My insurance company made my doctor prove that I needed the drugs for ADHD, so it took a while for the script to get filled

I'm about to pop my first legal amphetamine. Should be interesting to see what this does for me...

It's FBG keeping me from getting a GD suite on Sunday.
good post.
so confused.what are you guys doing?
There are probably too many of us to expect our GB's hookup at Caesar's to come through again this year, so we were looking elsewhere. I was planning to reserve a spot at Legasse's to take in the games all day Sunday. I got back to her too late, so we're SOL.

Rude, when's your draft in Vegas? That a Saturday thing? Friday? For some reason I can't recall the timing of things last year.
I'm drafting Thursday this year. Not sure what the plan is on Friday yet. Should be free all day Saturday. Sunday I think we are watching the games at the Palazzo sports book.
Is this a good spot for games? I'll be VEGASING for CFB opener.
I don't know, but I assume that it is pretty good. Some other FBG rented a private box in there so we reserved a spot. It's not cheap but I think it includes all food, drinks, plus private tvs and stuff.
How much? How many in a box?
this is the only info on it I got:
We are planning on having a Sunday Viewing Party at Lagasses Stadium. $133 gets you a Private Luxury Box for 30, both morning and afternoon games, food, booze, 3 flat screens, Pool table, games and all the crazyness you can stand.
so, $133/person * 30 is like 4 grand.
Sonofa#####. It's FBG keeping me from getting a GD suite on Sunday.
So are you limited to 3 games (1 on each flat screen)? If so, that doesn't seem to appealing, right?
We won't be going that route for Sunday, no. We might drop by Fri or Sat just because JTG sports wood for Emeril and a few people want to check the place out, but I don't think that's in the cards for a day full of games.

no offense, but keep your kid away from me.
