GM's thread about nothing (15 Viewers)

Phillip Rivers is a turd rancher.
Buddy in my 24 team dynasty (rivers owner) asked me during preseason: "would you take locker and three firsts for rivers?""in a heartbeat. Did you get that offer?""no, I'm going to send it. But I wanted to make sure it was fair"Me: "uh, not even close".

Baseball fans: My sister and brother were at AT&T for game 1 of NLCS. They got to be part of the group that gets to hold that gigantic American flag out on the field before the game.

I admit I haven't watched much NFL this year. What the #### is going on with these skin-tight see through pants?

My uncle burnt his face, his bed, his sheets and his floors in his bedroom last night. He did this while smoking pot, while also wearing his oxygen. He had a spark warning apparently, but kept smoking until the fireball ignited.
I hope this doesn't dissuade you from losing your weed virginity next month.
Thanks to UniAlias for taking care of this last Saturday during Neil Young and Crazy Horse at ACL. Best part was in the middle of passing around between UniAlias, his GF and myself, an older man turned around and said, "Is this a safety meeting?". When we said yes, he followed up with, "Well, I'm a safety inspector." UniAlias gladly shared and the guy was beyond grateful.Later that night, back at the townhouse, had my first cigar, a Cuban. So I guess I can mark that off my list as well.

Our little boy is growing up!

Sanded and primed my whole kitchen last night. Used an oil based primer that has been in the garage for years. I'm a little dizzy from the fumes. Getting all set to paint it this funky orange color my wife really likes. Want to be done by the time she gets back.

This morning she tells me the funky orange paint we bought this summer has primer in it. So I didn't really even need to prime with an oil based primer that's been sitting in the garage for years, gearing up to make me dizzy.

FML.

If it already has primer in it, its probably latex, meaning you will need to strip it again.

Can you explain that to me like I'm GM?

the latex paint won't stick to the oil primer and thus you will have to strip off the oil primer before using the latex paint or go get oil based paint.

The past two nights, I've tuned my computer to youtube and searched "thunderstorms". They have 8-10 hours of nothing but rain and thunder. I haven't slept so well in all my life. Outstanding.

Are you serious? I'm going to go jump off a bridge. I'm literally about to puke.

I am about to cry. I'm not joking. I spent all day/night on this.

I just read that you can paint latex on top of an oil based primer. True or false?http://homeguides.sfgate.com/using-latex-paint-over-oil-primer-26303.html

The latex paint should stick to the sanded oil primer without problems.

Latex over oil should be ok, Oil over latex doesn't workhttp://www.ehow.com/how_6715397_using-paint-over-oil-primer.htmlCHeck the primer can - it will tell you if Latex is suitable.

The kitchen used to have 1970's wallpaper. My ex-wife tried to remove all the wall paper, but she just butchered the walls in the process, ripping chunks out of the dry wall. She just painted over it in light blue and then filled in the butchered spots with a light white giving it a cloud type effect. :mellow:I have filled in all the butchered areas with mud, sanded it and then used an oil based primer because that's what they told me to use since it would help with sealing. I was told to let it dry for 24 hours and then paint with latex paint. I hope that's right because I'm going to lose my mind if I have to do this again. I suck at house projects. I'm a terrible painter. But I'm trying to get this done for my wife and make it look nice and learning that I'm doing it wrong is giving me an ulcer.

Check the can. It will tell you if Latex is fine. Most Kilz type stuff is fine.

That's what I used. Thank you. I went from panic attack to my usual state of unease.

Yes, I had it backwards, you should be fine. BTW, I hate to friggin' paint..

We had some lead abatement done and the contractor was terrible. He just put laminate over our walls and did a bad job at that. Because of space the laminate takes up, none of our outlet covers would fit. I have to put spacers in all of our outlets.

Is Drano/Liquid Plumber bad for pipes and drains? PlumberGuy said to stay away from harsh chemicals and try bleach instead. Anyone have experience?

I almost always end up taking apart the trap and snaking the damn things regardless of the chemicals I try.

Lol... Pretty sure all my friends in the northeast instantly hit Facebook to post about the earthquake they just had
