GM's thread about nothing (31 Viewers)

had a work happy hour last night followed up by beers with a buddy at my favorite local watering hole

got home to watch the NFL game and ended up passing out on the couch and waking up just as the game had ended

i crawled into bed and woke up way before my alarm, feeling more refreshed than i have in months

i'm working from home today and might take a nap this afternoon

today is shaping up to be a good one

Was pissed Mrs. SLB posted that pic of me making a goofy face on the face book so I just seduced her. Have to remember moments like this when its fun being me.

congratulations to Psy Kev's school for making the news because of a "massive fight"
Is this shtick? My wife works at the MKE school that had 30 kids arrested yesterday.
Damn. Is she alright?
Yeah, she's good. Luckily she's home with the kid until December. :thumbup:I guess it was pretty crazy. It's a middle/high school. They 30 arrested kids from 11-19 years old involved in a massive brawl....most of them girls. She talked to some of the staff last night and apparently the number released to the press might even be low.

Damn. What's up with the 7-12 graders in one school?

It was a stupid money saving making move made by the administration a few years ago. They closed down and merged one of the better middle schools in the district with one of the worst high schools. It's now 6-12 :loco:

Who was your teacher? Mrs. Ingalls-Wilder?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/City_Honors_Schoolseems to work pretty well there, but it is unusual I guess.
It would seem like it would work with gifted kids better than with "regular kids". How did you get in there?

On its way to making the Big Three a Big Four is Oklahoma Joe's, my personal favorite. My two favorite lunch plates in the city are the Okie Joe's Carolina sandwich (pulled pork topped with spicy cole slaw) with fries (seasoned with their rib rub), and the Okie Joe's Z-Man sandwich (brisket topped with a couple onion rings and melted provolone) with fries. It's not listed on the menu, but they have a limited supply of burnt ends each day.
Heard great things about Okie Joes so that was the only place I went to when I was in KC for a day. That sandwich was so good

Oh yeah, headed to KC for a long weekend / wedding if anybody is going to be around.
NASCAR is in town this weekend, so traffic on the west and northwest side of the metro feeding the Speedway (KCK where I-435 and I-70 intersect) will be a lot more crowded than usual. If you will be in the Lee's Summit/Blue Springs part of town, you won't notice a difference. If you seek KC BBQ... you could go to a different BBQ joint here every day for a month and every single one will be good, but some are better than others. FBG head honcho Joe Bryant will tell you the BBQ in town is Arthur Bryant's. It's delicious, the opposite of pretentious (food is wrapped in butcher paper on a tray instead of plated and served by a food runner), and their BBQ sauce has a little more kick than the classic KC-style molasses-based sauce. The other BBQ institutions are Gates (informal counter service, great ribs, and if you order the "Burnt Ends On Bun" be sure to order it using just those four words) and Jack Stack (sit-down restaurant with broader menu, great sliced meats). I'm watching the Cardinals tonight and going to the race tomorrow, but I might be available to cornhole for a Sunday night if-necessary Cards/Giants game. Have fun! Weather is crap today, but the forecast is high 60s/low 70s and sunny this weekend.
:thumbup:we have great BBQ here in St. Louis so that isn't on the list. I think we are staying at The Plaza? I don't know, Mrs. SLB took care of everything. Meeting up with friends that live there tonight, wedding Saturday night and leaving Sunday morning.

Have a good time! The Plaza is a logical place where a wedding party would reserve a block of rooms for out-of-town guests. The Plaza has good shopping and restaurants, with a bunch of places within and nearby suitable for hosting a wedding reception. If you secretly are cultured, the Nelson-Atkins art museum just east of the Plaza. And if Homer J Simpson is coming with you, an all-girls Catholic high school with tuition approaching $20K a year is less than a mile south.
I met Mrs. SLB in Catholic School. You've seen Mrs. SLB. Now imagine her wearing a white shirt and short plaid skirt.

I also bought a thatching blade for my mower last week
Who convinced you to do this?
when the hell did you turn into Al Borland, guy? Why are you second guessing every home project I mention on here. Are you the authority on all things house/yard related? If so, when the hell did that happen? I had to thatch my yards...I'm pretty sure I'm not the first guy to ever do that.
