GM's thread about nothing (20 Viewers)

Going to post this in the crockpot thread as well, but will be making this for Thxgiving:

Crockpot Bacon Cheese Potatoes

Ingredients

[*]1/4 pound bacon, diced – I bake it first in the oven so that it is “done” and browned then I dice it and place in the crock pot.

[*]2 medium onions, thinly sliced

[*]4 medium potatoes, thinly sliced (or if you use a new potato or Yukon gold then halve)

[*]1/2 pound cheddar cheese, thinly sliced (shredded is fine)

[*]salt and pepper

[*]butter

[*]Green Onions (optional)

Instructions

[*]Line crockpot with foil, leaving enough to cover the potatoes when finished – this will help to not stick and to steam the potatoes – also to keep them from getting discolored or mushy.

[*]Layer half each of the bacon, onions and potatoes in the crockpot.

[*]Season to taste with salt and pepper and dot with (real) butter.

[*]Repeat layers of bacon, onions, potatoes and cheese. Dot with butter.

[*]Cover with remaining foil.

[*]Cover and cook on low for up to 6 hours (check at 4 hours – depending on your crock pot).

[*]Add cheese for the last 20 – 30 minutes and enjoy!

TigerFan needs to fire up the squares pool again. That was awesome.
I've thought about this...but it was a logistical nightmare...plus now you have to fill out tax forms with paypal...so it's a cluster

any of you guys got a kindle fire? reviews?
I got the original one last Christmas. Loved it, then had an iPad fall into my lap and my Kindle Fire starting collecting dust. But about a month ago, I dusted it off and I do purely reading on it. Try to stay away from apps and Netflix on it, just make it a stand alone reading device. I have insane OCD when trying to read, so I found early on when reading on it, I would go over to FB or Angry Birds or Netflix and not read. With all of that wiped off of it, it's a nice reading device. That said, for a complete tablet, I played with an iPad mini over the weekend and I think it is the perfect tablet right now (if it had Retina Display). The size was perfect, better than the iPad, and it runs more smoothly than the Kindle Fire. Now, I have not played with the new Kindle Fire HD, the new Nook or the other new Android tablets, but I really enjoyed the experience with the iPad Mini. Of course the price point makes it a completely different decision over the other tablets out there.

Love the Fire as a reader and also works okay for going online. Not great web experience, but plenty for catching up on email and GMTAN. Very hard to beat for the price and gmtanners have a pretty huge collective mobi collection, except for shuke who has morals.

So people are really into that zombie show, huh?
I don't get it. Of course I haven't gotten the appeal of most shows the last 20 years or so.
My parents are coming into town today for the first time since last September. At the time I was still with the now ex-gf, so this will be the first time ever that they've come out with it being just me (and my daughter). As some of you might remember, my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer this summer. She had a lumpectomy and just ended radiation last week. Things are looking good/hopeful that all the cancer is gone and she can live a normal life from here, but she's been using this trip as her motivation to get up everyday and go through all that. Every time she saw a doctor, she would ask if she was still going to be able to make the trip here for thanksgiving. So I'm trying to go big this thanksgiving and make it one she'll always remember. I've been slowly cleaning my apartment over the past 2 months, throwing out/giving away at least a third of the non-furniture stuff that was in my place (including >2/3 of my daughter's toys!), turning it into my home and my space. The metamorphosis of my back bedroom from storage unit into guest bedroom was finally completed late last night. I think everything is in place for their arrival mid/late afternoon including decorating their bedroom with pictures of me when I was little and some pictures of my daughter.I have a massive thanksgiving feast planned, which should be awesome since my mom still sees me as a little boy and is still surprised/impressed that I do laundry, etc. I'll be smoking 2 turkey breasts, gravy, mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole, apple and bacon stuffing, asparagus, butternut squash soup, along with pumpkin cheese cake, apple pie and strawberry rhubarb crisp. Oh and my mom is a big Patriots fan, so ending the day watching them beat up in the Jets should be the perfect nightcap to an awesome day
whole lotta awesomeness right there
:goodposting: Awesome GB!

Had a cough yesterday morning due to allergies (I hope  ) and was heading out to the bar to watch Dallas-Cleveland pushed pro football back three decades, when I decided I needed to take some medicine. I didn't have any adult cough medicine in the house, only the kids cough medicine for when my kids are over.

The max amount suggested was 2 teaspoons for kids "up to 96 pounds". I figured I'm twice that kids' weight so I took 4 teaspoons and headed out the door. Didn't cough at all during the day. :banned: :banned: :banned:

:goodposting:Also great for netflix/amazon prime watching. I like the smallish size because I read a lot, but apparently many prefer the larger ipad and it's ilk.

Tonight we're playing a game with our 2.5 year old where we have her dog toy on a blanket, and we're tossing him up in the air. Out of nowhere, unprompted, she says "We have a great family." How ####### great is that? She's also pretty advanced, linguistically. My wife and I look at each other, amazed, and she just keeps rolling right along with throwing the dog up in the air. She'll also completely melt down, and an hour later, apologize to us unprompted. Kids are pretty awesome. They can also be a massive pain in the #### and they guarantee you're going to get laid about 82% less than you normally would, but it's so worth it. I think. I'm pretty sure.COWHERD! :towelwave:
Yeah, my 4 month old hates me and I can't hold her for longer than 5 minutes before she breaks down in a trail of tears. Course, she probably strenuously objects to my attempts to cannibalize her hands and post the pics on the internet.

hey degenerates, alex smith is out tonight. Bears +6 is free money tonight
I already bet money this week on a failed, 1st round QB turned vagrant, journeyman backup. The Bryon Leftwich experience was horrendous to watch with money on the line. No way in hell I'm backing Jason Campbell tonight, I don't care how many points I get.

I think this bet is more about the Bears defense vs a guy named Colin Kaepernick.

I can't express enough how m,uch cancer sucks. Wife just called, her dad passed after 5 months of being diagnosed with brain cancer.

I might be going off the grid for a while, or not, all depends on what's happening over the next couple of days.

maybe you should bet on the 49ers then? Line got a whole lot better for you today if you like the kid and hate Jason Campbell.Tough to see many points from either side so getting 6 did look pretty awesome.

Sorry Charv. I enjoyed meeting this man years ago in Bloomington. Pretty cool seeing his picture with Bobby Knight and the Hoosier Hoops teams. Give my best to your wife and I hope you can make it up to Portland another time, good friend. :(

Oh, I did. I'm on SFO -190 and -3.5. Might add more if it drops again.

 I'm taking the points. Glll.
Pretty excited to see what Harbaugh has in store for Colin tonight. That kid was something else at Nevada. 4 year starter who just shattered the league with his arm and feet. Sharp kid, too. Exactly the kind of player Harbaugh can coach up.Jason Campbell makes me puke.

I don't think a nook can read .mobi files. The main file format for nook is .epub I think. If you're looking for certain books I can try and assist though.

Can this Campbell character throw to Marshall for 150/1 or 90/2? I'm debating even watching
Am I the only one who watched him play against Houston? He was atrocious.
He was playing not to lose...which was sad because they were already losing. Hopefully, after a full week of getting to run the 1st string O, he'll take the governor off. I'd rather see him throw a few picks downfield than throw 4 yard passes when it is 3 and 10.

I will settle for him making it past the line of scrimmage. Last week he checked down to a 1 or 2 yard loss several times.

I have awarded myself the Red Badge of Self-Restraint today.

My 'today in history' is about the first Harry Potter movie being released. I put up some 'then vs now' pics of the cast including this one hot-as-balls Emma Watson. The one incredibly obnoxious, thinly veiled homo kid in my class says "Ewww...ugly hair cut...she looks like a boy!".

Devil on my shoulder: 'Don't you like boys? You little fruitbat.'

Angel on my shoulder: 'Remember your career!!!!'
This kid is slowly becoming my least favorite student. He's taking on the role of the ditzy girl that thinks people think she's cute when she's stupid. Today we're talking about the soccer player Pele. This kid asks "Isn't there a candy bar named Pele?"

campbell wasn't good enough to hold on to the starting job for the raiders.
They were 4-2 with him until he broke his collarbone last year. Then they panicked and made a dumb trade for Carson Palmer midseason.Career: 74 TDs/50 INTs isn't terrible.
