GM's thread about nothing (36 Viewers)

Going to go 13-1 in St. Louis Pitt's football contest, good enough for a 17-way tie for 4th.
3 people went 14-0? How many people are in this thing? What does it pay out?
I'm joking, but....TWENTY people went 13-1, including me. I finished 5th. Why? Because the tie breaker is "TOTAL POINTS" for the MNF game. I picked 36. It landed on 39. Pretty damn neat. :hot: Pays pretty well. Not that I've ever seen a dime from it, but I've heard it's pretty nice.
I won the weekly prize once by forgetting about it and going accidentally on autopick.

Can someone explain this to me? Why is everyone deadly accurate every week?
There is no point spread.
Still..How many thousands of people are in this thing?
This is just SLB's contest, so it's not THAT massive. 62 people this year. I've gone 105-54-1 and am tied for 19th. The leader is 113-46-1. Hell, I don't think Cosjobs has turned in his picks once this year and he's 60th at 90-69-1. I would think a vacuum could break .500 in this.

I just checked and I went 13-1 this week also (missed on the Rams). I had 33 as my tiebreaker for MNF. 49ers almost hit that themselves.

(This wasn't SLB's pool. Just some FBG one.)

Not sure if I've mentioned this before but the 3rd string QB at USC (the Trojans not the Traitors) is a former student of mine. I have his little brother in class this year. We both just made a silent pact to hope that Wittek breaks a thumb or something.
Ryan Clanton of Bakersfield honored pre-game Sat. night for Senior night.

Thanks for the good wishes everyone. It's still technically "too early" to be telling, but I can't keep a secret to save my life and all signs (bloodwork 2x/week, ultrasound, etc.) point to everything being okay with this one.

I've set the o/u on themed onesies that we will receive from the Hoarders at Christmas at 47. Taking action now.

My second cousin's ex husband kidnapped their son earlier today and the assumption in the family is that he has left the country, very likely never to be seen again. My friend's dad has been fighting cancer since June, and recently has taken a huge turn for the worse. Guy has cancer every-*******-where. My friend is still convinced his dad is going to be ok. Utter denial. I hope he comes to terms with it soon or it's going to wreck him. Said friend also has quite the extensive history with hard drugs, has really cleaned up his life over the last few years, and I'm worried that his dad kicking off faster than he's ready for could send things in a bad direction. Don't really know how I can help - I don't want to say "look, your dad is as good as dead" but I want to do something. :kicksrock:
:( So sorry to hear GB.

GM, you'll notice I finished tied for last this week. However a GMTAN did win the week although EOMMAN doesn't post much anymore. :(

Bentley, you should consider refinancing. 4.625% is high these days.

K4, I'll let you know when my cigars arrive.

Thoprawishes Charv. Just got back from my Aunt's funeral who passed at 69 from liver cancer. Cancer is the suck. (cool note, she was the ticket office manager for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Kevin Colbert and Mike Tomlin show up at the viewing. I expect a drop in/quick out from them. They end up staying close to an hour. Pretty cool. Lynn Swann and Franco Harris among the other attendees. Look at me)

Congrats YSR. Will need your address (preferably SC) for onesies.

Also, not sure if you heard.

THE IRISH ARE #1.

My brother knows that kid's dad I guess.

First full week I've taken off of work since last June....

Monday starts with the stem for one of my shower fixtures breaking off. Hardware for the shower is probably 75 years old and pretty much not replaceable. Whole water wall needs to be gutted and new rigging for all of the fixtures will need to be put in there. In the meantime, I have a wrench attached to what's left of the stem to allow me to use my shower.

Tuesday starts with the flusher on my downstairs bathroom cracking.

Flusher is an easy fix, but what did I do to piss off the plumbing gods?

Woke up this morning with a stye in my left eye that has it completely swollen shut. Went ahead and went into the office.

Co-worker keeps asking me what I did to my eye. Everytime I would answer something different: "bar fight", "bee sting", "MMA training", "domestic dispute".

Just now walking past his desk, he is on the phone, but hits mute and says "Hey, what happen to your eye?" I pantomimed doing a shake weight in front of my face, then getting hit in the face with a fire hose. He laughed so hard he hung up on his customer and knocked his cup of water into his keyboard.

I think I'm going home. I can't do anything more satisfying than that today.

LCD class action

I heard about this on the radio a couple of weeks ago but thought it was only for Missouri. I think I have $150 coming. Thanks lawyerbirds!!!
Minnesota is on here! Why are we suing?Answer:

The lawsuits claim that the Defendants conspired to fix, raise, maintain or stabilize prices of TFT-LCD Flat Panels resulting in overcharges to consumers who bought TVs, monitors or notebook computers containing the Flat Panels. The Defendants deny Plaintiffs’ allegations or that indirect purchasers suffered any overcharge.

On July 11, 2012, the Court approved Settlements totaling over $538 Million with Defendants Chimei, Chunghwa, Epson, HannStar, Hitachi, Samsung and Sharp. There are three new Settlements totaling $543.5 Million with AU Optronics, LG Display and Toshiba. The Court granted preliminary approval for the new Settlements on July 31, 2012. The total amount of all 10 Settlements is $1,082,055,647.
