Went chasing rock fish again yesterday after getting skunked a couple of weeks ago. We originally supposed to go today, but weather reports were calling for 30 mph winds and temps in the 30s. I love being on the Bay, but not THAT much. Called the charter captain and he was more than happy to move us up a day (temps near 60 and light winds). 15 minutes after we got lines in the water, we caught the fish in
My link. 40" & 25 lbs. We thought we would limit out by 8:30. Come 1 p.m., she was still the only fish in the boat. We were all beat, so we called it a day. Captain & Mate started reeling the lines in and a fish hit the very last one.
My link. This one was "only" 21" and maybe 6 lbs, which most think is the perfect size.
We had them fileted. The big one made filets at least an inch thick. So I think I'm gonna cube that meat in 1" squares, roll them in some Zatarains Fish Fry breading, and deep fry them. The thinner portions, I'll cut in sandwich size pieces and fry them. We split the meat evenly and I have a one gallon freezer bag full of Chesapeake goodness.
